Our first stop was Pulau Redang, a remote island just south of the more popular Perhentian Islands. Redang is the largest of several marine park islands that are protected and regulated in the Terengganu state. We were invited to stay at the secluded Wisana Village , the only resort on the island which is owned, operated, and run by local island villagers who are mostly family members. Wisana Village is located in the south-east corner of Redang Island. To arrive from western Malaysia you must take a speedboat that has very limited service. Merang jetty has boats that depart for Redang Island at , , and The gorgeous one piece I am wearing was designed by my friend Natasha who is the creative force behind swimwear line Mer Culture. The elevated fit and well-placed design makes me feel sexy and confident, something I usually struggle with when I am exposing so much skin. The cut is incredibly flattering, and slightly cheeky, which enhances my curves in all the right ways. This particular design was inspired by one of my favorite places, Morocco. Each collection from Mer Culture is inspired by an exotic land and its unique crafts, like the Moroccan Zillij tiles from the Grand Mosque Hassan II in Casablanca which influenced the pattern of this swimsuit. We were treated to impossibly clear seafoam and turquoise water, silky soft white sand, and more sea turtle encounters than we can count. The clarity made the ocean seem reflective, we could even see our shadows floating underneath us. We went free ping around a shipwreck that had sunk during WWII and has since transformed into a psychedelic underwater haven for fish. The reef in the area is vibrant and full of aquatic life thanks to the strictly regulated protection of the area. We were amazed to see massive clams, neon coral, bright pink sea slugs, tons of angel fish, parrot fish, and curious clownfish that got bravely close to us. I love how their faces always look a little bit grumpy. This obviously curbs their natural instinct to hunt and provide for themselves and is irresponsible wildlife interaction. The turtles here were three times the size that we had seen elsewhere on the island. They were completely used to humans and would swim right up to our faces searching for food. Our private snorkeling trip the second day ended at Kerangga Island sandbar, which is actually almost entirely made of white coral. It was very painful to walk on, but an incredibly beautiful spot far away from civilization. We enjoyed a few leisurely moments soaking up the pure white seabed and translucent aqua waters before heading back to Wisana Village. We spotted at least three sea turtles every time we swam at the Wisana Village private Teluk Kalong Kechil beach. The white-powder sand and crystal clear waters make it easy to have a great vantage underwater and watch these majestic creatures as they gracefully sway through the ocean waters, snack on the seabed, and float upwards for quick gasps of air. Wisana Village offers guests the chance to stay in rustic wooden beach chalets with balconies equipped with modern amenities and luxurious bedding that are snugly situated right on the edge of the water, each with an incredible sea view. We could literally walk out or door and be in the warm sea water in less than 30 seconds. Behind the chalets is a lush jungle that provides shade in the afternoon, and the occasional monkey climbing down to say Hello. We rose with the sun to the sound of waves crashing just outside our doors and birds singing their morning songs high above us in the palm trees. The perfect way to start the day in this serene tropical oasis. The decor at the Malay resort is beachy bohemian with an open-air restaurant that serves buffet-style meals with local dishes and a cozy lounge area complete with colorful bean bags, floor mats, and panoramic views of the Kerangga Island sandbar. This was the perfect idyllic place to relax watch the sunrise in the morning and the full moon rise in the evening. The resort was at full capacity during our stay but it still felt tranquil and due to a small number of available rooms. Make sure to book in advance if you want to experience this paradise yourself and note that Wisana Village operates from March to October and is closed during monsoon season. Wisana Village was truly paradise found. Where have you experienced a charming beach getaway? All opinions and photos are my own. Please read the Miss Filatelista disclosure policy for more information. I have been to Malaysia three times before now but had no clue this was out there, I have missed out. Redang Island hotels & places to stay

We went on a 4D3N stay. It was our 1st time in Redang Island and we had the most amazing time there. The room was huge and the toilet was so clean. Our room was facing the beautiful blue sea. The staffs were helpful. However, the only problem was the food. As it was nearing monsoon season, the hotel did not stock up their food supply. It was hard to find food since we were on an island. Overall it was a wonderful stay though. The hotel is located exactly the other end from the famous landmark more more tea inn. It might sound far but walking from one end to the other is just about half an hour. Staff services wise is very good, they are taking the initiative to contact with you first and reply to all your enquiries. Basically most of the expenses are included ie ferry services from Terengganu to Redang and transfer to hotel, accommodation, breakfast, lunch, tea time, dinner and snorkeling twice per day at 9. You will have to rent snorkeling equipment once throughout your stay which includes mask and life jacket, items are to be kept in the room until you finished using during the stay. We rented a semi-detached Seaview bungalow. The staircases to the room requires some walking and some said not suitable for elders which is true. Young people will have no problem for it. The room comes with attic floor inside the room itself which is special. Two relaxing chairs are outside the room for you to enjoy the view. Room made of wood but expect lots of funny or weird sounds heard from roof on and off, we expect is some stick branches fell on the roof or squirrels crawling around. No housekeeping is provided, basic towels and blanket with 4 pillows are available but do not expect things with new or fresh smell. No TV but with aircond and a wall fan. Aircond temperature is not adjustable. Toilet door couldn't be locked at all. Toilet bowl after flushing will flow out additional flows which will cause stink smell. Referred to the man and he said no one is interested to work in the island for repair works during the island close in monsoon season. Thus upkeep is at its poorest. Friends warned us to keep valuable things safely and unseen due to some theft issues previously however we are glad to have not facing any issues on this. Food will be repeated every 2 days ie Sunday will be same as Tuesday. Not much food selection bur they offer good drinks like orange, sirup, coffee and t. We were picked up from the jetty and driven to the accommodation for I think RM10 each. The room was clean with a comfortable bed although the pillow was too large. The bathroom was clean with a warm shower with good water pressure. The rooms are situated on the side of a hill so be prepared to climb some steps! There is a restaurant attached which serves a basic menu as well as drinks good fruit shakes. There are one or two restaurants nearby and one shop with very basic provisions a min walk away. This was the quiet part of Redang with not much going on, however, this means that the beach is almost entirely your own. The guesthouse can arrange for snorkelling tours. There is a resort 5 mins down the road which has it's own beach and serves a variety of food and alcohol drinks the only place in this part and is the only place to accept cards. Note that the island does not have any ATMs. The other, busier side of the island, is a half hour walk through the jungle not a difficult walk where there are a number of cafes and restaurants. Would recommend staying in this part of Redang. I would recommend this chalet for Muslim families who are not interested in karokea-ing, loud noises or partying. Our room, Ocean front master room is good for a family with up to 4 kids. First time in Laguna after so many visits to Redang island and I have to say it is the best option. From the location, to the rooms and foods, all are the best! Will be my first choice from now onward. It is the last hotel available on my date to Redang. RM20 to rent the snorkelling gear only 1 time payment only -shuttle service to the nearest beach Long beach , walking around 15 mins - extra bed request with no charges -the snorkelling trip provided by hotel is great as the hotel guests is lesser. I can see big ferry from 5 stars hotel came to the snorkelling site late and went back early due to hundreds of guest boarding. Might look for other hotel if i am not going Redang again during public holiday. I really really love this resort, definitely will recommend to my family and friends. The package included food was so nice and tasty! Get room facing the pool, but too bad pool is not open to public maybe got maintenance issue. The only thing I'm not satisfied is wifi. Since there's not TV channel provided the resort supposed give us wifi as everyone knows mobile signal have issue in the island. Overall is good! What's the average price of a hotel in Redang Island?
