A LEGAL high being lined up to replace mephedrone is even more powerful than the dangerous party drug, we can reveal today. Star Dust Extreme is already being churned out by a Scots factory, with users claiming it is more potent than mephedrone - nicknamed meow meow or bubbles - which has been linked to 25 deaths. Robert Gorton is behind production of the white powder, which is marketed as bath salts but snorted like cocaine by users. The year-old is a director of Herbal Essence, who make the substance from a unit in an industrial estate in Ayrshire. Gorton set up the f irm, who distribute throughout the UK, less than a year ago. He claims to have clients as far afield as Romania. Its packaging claims 'invigorating bath salts' give a 'euphoric feeling' - even though the powder is unscented. We tracked Gorton down at the Brewery Bar in Catrine, Ayrshire, where he was enjoying an afternoon drinking session. He claimed his product is a toiletry which is being abused by clubbers - even though it's available on websites which specialise in selling legal highs. Gorton also claimed his bank have told him they no longer want him as a customer because of controversy surrounding his firm. But he refused to reveal which chemicals he used to make the drug in case rivals tried to reproduce it. He said: 'I'm a responsible businessman who's being unfairly treated at the moment. You print the ingredients in the paper and people will start trying to manufacture it for themselves. Despite Gorton's claims that Star Dust wasn't a legal high, we obtained a letter written by a Herbal Essence market i ng employee which described the firm as 'major players in the legal highs industry'.
