Location is unbeatable! The room and bathroom are spacious, lots of green space inside the resort. And the restaurant is over the water with such amazing views to compensate for the average food they offer. Comfortable stay at one of the best beach on Zanzibar. Nothing wrong with accomodation. Very clean. The staff and especially the breakfast staff very rude. Breakfast self is a disaster. Never enough food. Always had to wait for food to be stocked up. If it was not for the bread and porridge I wouldnt know how i would have survived. No kettle in rooms or even cups to make coffee. Location is great everything else is awful. Breakfast is like prison slops. Rooms are not cleaned properly and big infested. It has a good location but the cleaness in the room really needs an improvement as our toilet wasn t cleaned properly they were hair on the toilet wall and the cleaness in the room not as perfect. Pros - Great location - Cheap - Some friendly staff Cons - Swimming pool had far too many chemicals in, smelt like bleach and made our hair green. Manager did not accept fault. WiFi was not working for several days. I had to ask for a towel before I could shower it took 30 min to bring me one and had to go to the reception twice. Such a disappointment. Shower is terrible water pressure very low. Ants around the room especially bathroom. Bad lighting in bathroom. There were tiny like bed bugs in the bed sheets. Wifi barely worked always had to resend pass word. Breakfast was terrible. Such a shame. Location is great everything else dissatisfied. Terrible breakfast. Bad rooms. Look for better accomodation. Perfect location on the beach. Staff very professional. Between Mama Mia restaurant and Z rooftop bar. Istanbul and Colo beach party very close. Hotel is well located but many disappointments. The room is connected to other room with a locked door that has cracks in it, one may see the other room, no intimacy or soundproofing. Outside door also has cracks One staff entered our room without knocking while we were in bed, bad. Staff laughed at our covid-mask on many occasions. Food is poor, we recommend z-hotel restaurant or secret garden bandolina restaurant. Hotel missed electricity and we had to sleep with diesel genset noise. Bed is too small for someone above 6feet, my feet were resting on the wood frame. Mattress is used and sheet too small. It has a low price but any vacations should aim for a better stay. Service could be better. Maybe they got to lazy over the years. Pros: Aircon was very important as well as the mini refrigerator. Staff was friendly. Room was cleaned every day, this was great to have a freshly cleaned room smell. Beach area in front of Amaan was the nicest swimming spot. Snorkeled there as well which was nice. The pool was always super clean and we enjoyed the pool area a lot. Pool was not so busy, which could be due to us visiting just before the off season starts. Cons: Restaurant food is okay, but not spectacular. There is not a huge variaty, which is not that bad, but ita not what Im used to for a buffet. Fruit is very tasteless at the breakfast buffet, not sure why this was. General comment: In my view, if I can choose a resort again, then I would consider Amaan again. Good location. Supporting staff. Many thanks to the girl who picked up the IB4 number. Very bad wifi and breakfast. Milkshake expensive and tasteless, half a glass of ice. Service was extremely slow wait up to 2 hours for your food and the breakfast staff were not friendly or helpful. I saw a cockroach at the breakfast buffet - running along the edge of the food containers. Put me off for the rest of the vacation. We were quite disappointed with the stuff at Amaan Nungwi Beach. They all were not service-minded, from the reception to the restaurant. The cleaning ladies even forgot to lock our room after finishing their work and we found it open late in the evening when we came back. Everything was great. Staff, location, breakfast etc. Just wifi is not working in the rooms. For the amount I am paying per night, I was unimpressed with the room I was given. Shower was not working at check in time but the staff fixed it promptly. I stayed for 5 nights and I grew to appreciate it the room the longer I stayed and it stopped bothering me. Breakfast buffet was horrible. On a single morning I had soggy sausages , hard baked beans in weird tasting tomato sauce, egg shells in my omelette and my toast that was in the toaster came out white. Security is good. Nice room in a good location near beautiful beach, restaurants, bars and village. Great value for money only let down is the food service. Breakfast is buffet style with sometimes random selection of mince meat, spring rolls or noodle stir fry Staff are friendly but bar service can be really slow and cocktails are not the best! We had an amazing time in Zanzibar and bungalows contributed to this! The location on the beach is only accessible during low tide. The manage was not helpful. Beds were way to hard to sleep on. Waiters barman and cleaners were friendly but managers were not. Firstly, do yourself a favor and book a sea view room! The views do not disappoint and the balcony is absolutely great for sunset! Hotel is generally nice, with a good pool, restaurant with tasty food and in front of a nice stretch of beach. I would recommend! We stayed here 4 nights after our safari, 3 nights were included with our Safari tour and we had reserved the extra 1 night ahead of time to give ourselves extra time at the beach. The room was dark like a dungeon, there was no hot water, and worst of all there was a disgusting rancid sewer stench in our whole block of rooms. Stay anywhere else but here! Loved the place and the atmosphere in this place. Its located in the main beach area in Zanzibar. Super facilities and friendly staff. Ideal place to relax after a Safari. First impression is an outdoor disorganised reception, busy with people either coming or going. Rooms are extremely basic, no tv, coffee facilities, only a sheet and throw for bedding on hard mattress. This was a four day stay, and in-spite of the above, the pool area is nice, if you can wrestle your way to a chair, which is always occupied by towels left by their owners in reserving them for days on end. You soon learn to smart up and put your own towel out early morning. The breakfast is plenty and the staff great. The happy hour cocktails were a nice addition to the pool and even though pool closes at 6, we were never chased away untill we were done. All in all, an ok budget stay. WiFi is terrible! No reception in room, people huddle in the public areas where dowmlaods may be possible. Water daily in room and great aircon a def plus. Very poor service. A lot of stupid rules for example if you want go to your room after breakfast with cup of coffe you cant! If you want to have guest in your room you need to pay USD! Definetely not recommend this hotel. Waste of your time. I stayed at Amaan over the Xmas week. The staff were friendly and helpful. The meals in the restaurant is OK, but breakfast is a bit boring and limited, but I would still go back there. Barack restaurant is amazing with their fresh seafood. Overall had an awesome week in Zanzibar. This hotel was good value and in a good spot in terms of density. Kendwa Beach was a little more our speed. Still, good establishment. Everything was great and cool, except for the citizens on the beach, who were selling drugs. Good value for money. They dont really have their own beach, but the public one is really close, and is good. Nice pool area, and beautiful view from the breakfest area and restaurant. The name is misleading. There is nothing Bungalowesque at this old hotel. Our ocean view room was old and depressing. We are in Africa, and we wanted to get the African experience. It was nice cozy place, they had great classy music playing, and the food was fantastic. The owner is a great guy Who treated us for two free coconuts. That is the difference between being an owner or your establishmen, and a pushover manager. Very good hotel near the best Beach! Rooms big enough, air-conditioned, everything was working. Breakfast on choice from 11 positions on the menu. Room was cleaned well when asked. The beach is just 2 minutes walking and the view from breakfast is just amazing. Would really recommend it. I had a sea view room and it was amazing. My friends complained about the water pressure in their rooms and that was the biggest downer. This needs to be improved. Other than that it was a great stay. Nice hotel with plenty of bungalows so you can choose where you want to stay if by the pool or have sea or garden view. We stayed in back garden view apartment house where was quiet to get a good sleep : The 'hotel' is quite large. Pool is nice clean sunbeds with pods are free. The hotel has no direct beach but nice large beach is 2min walk from the pool. Little dissapointment is the breakfest as is choice of 11 'menus' where 6 of them is eggs and 5 is pancake. We end up to rotate 2 of them The way we were treated, can only be described as disgusting. Upon arrival, we were refused to check in to our room - which we had paid for over a month in advance. Amman Bungalows simply told us to send Agoda an e-mail and to fix the problem ourselves. Wi-fi was of course not working so we were left with the option of making expensive phone calls to Norway desperately trying to get help and advice from family and friends. We were basically treated like stray dogs. When we contacted Agoda they fixed the problem for us immediately. Amaan Bungalows did nothing to help us out. An almost perfect holiday. My only gripe is that I had booked a seafacing room with twin beds as we were two brothers travelling. Instead we had a standard double bed and a 2nd small bed squeezed in alongside, which meant there was no room to move around. Also no cupboard space so we lived out of suitcases for a week. Apart from that, a great holiday. Thank you Amaan! Breakfast was a good choice of food and fresh fruits, very friendly staff. The location is the best and makes up for any issues at the hotel! The rooms are pretty basic however they are kept clean and the tidy so a thumbs up to the housekeeping crew. The wifi was not available in our room so we were forced to hang out with the masses in the reception area and restaurant when it would have been nice to chill in our room. The wifi was very slow and not having it in room was an issue when you have a young child in bed. We would still go back, but mainly based on the location and price alone. The beach is gorgeous! Incredible white sand and electric blue water. There are loads of bars and restaurants around. Amaan provides deck chairs, but only by the pool and not enough for all guests. It seemed that often the staff were doing catch up on everything. Worst of all, upon check in we were told that the sea view room we booked was not available and the ONLY room in the hotel was a poolside room. It took 3 days of constant arguing with staff and managers until they finally reimbursed us the difference in price. This took a lot of our time and caused a lot of stress and lost time. Overall, I would not stay there again. Had a great time. Shame no internet in the rooms and poor internet elsewhere. If you are by the pool suggest you use the sunset wifi as the pw is not easily available so fewer people are using it. We ended up with a double despite asking for a twin, but it was sorted out very quickly with an additional bed. Go for a seaview room! For lunch, ordered mixed veg pizza and it came with cabbage, carrots and celery! Not really what I had expected, but fed back to the staff that it was not really Italian. Waited almost an hour for lunch, but when asked by the manager and pointed this out, we had exceptional service from then on. Shame it had to be taken to the manager to get something done. When checking out, asked for an early breakfast and it was no problem. Superb location, lovely sea even when it rains. Food at main resto not special and limited canteen type where all rush. Waiting Service bad as we always got our orders wrong. Very much enjoyed our stay at the Amaan Bungalows. Only thing lacking is the Internet in the rooms. Otherwise perfect. Thank you! Locals are very friendly. Great location, right on the beach in Nungwi. Please do not visit in May as it is rainy season and FLY season. The pool view rooms have been refurbished and the sea view have NOT. Sea view are old but more expensive which does not make any sense to me. The staff are helpful enough, the reception staff were good, especially Youssef. The food is nice in the hotel but expensive compared to local standards. If you walk out on to the beach there are two restaurants within a 5 min walk of the hotel. They are half the price and the food is lovely.
