The village is safe and accessible by a 2 minute walk and located within walking distance is the Fish market where all the fisherman bring their catch of the day. Several natural depressions which fill up with the tides also serve a sanctuaries to the endangered Green Turtle species as they have their breeding grounds on the beaches of Nungwi Traditional village craft activities such as hair weaving and application of attractive henna tattoos and traditional Arabic designs on hands and legs can be tried out. Local communal transport is available, for a fun ride to and from town and the locals are very friendly. The ride may take hours as there are many stops and pickups n the way to town as its 65km away Deep sea fishing diving and scuba diving excursion sites are within a 3km radius of the hotel beach. Great resort. Decent enough food but nothing special. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are spacious and everything is very clean. It was a very nice place. U made it special. Located literally on the beautiful beach of Nungwi.. The staff of this resort is what makes it so special. They are ever so helpful and friendly. Whilst the hotel layout is great it could do with a face lift as the bathrooms are ugly and so unpractical. No shower door. Unbelievable beach. Gorgeous water. Great food. An amazing immersive experience deep in the heart of Nungwi Zanzibar. The staff was amazing and so kind. Great hotel great staff friendly nice atmosphere. But the downer were stray cats. Stray cats prawling around for food during meal times. Cats just roaming in full view. Skinny cats just walking around. The Double Tree in Nungwi unfortunately did not impress me, probably because I was on a business trip during a peak tourist season February The roads are not that great, and the access road to the facility is quite bumpy. The hotel has great views though, and facilities appeared to be in a great shape. Lots of restaurants and a wide variety of options for food and drinks. Be warned though that stuff can be quite pricy. Service was not particularly impressive. The internet connection was decent, despite the facility having a lot of guests on that particular day. The Nungwi beach looked untidy, and with lots of sea weed deposits. The resort is excellently situated. Maybe not 4 star quality by other standards but definitely one of the better resorts on the island. Staff are friendly too. The first and the most was staff. People were very friendly and tried to help with any request. Guys on reception performed every our request changed the room, provided with additional cover, prolonged our stay and included free lunch because we missed one on arrival. The location is good as well. The meal was variable and tasty. The room was cleaned every day and towels were replaced too. The great thing was no insects in the room. There are some things to improve. The facilities are not very new and require some improvement. The staff was fixing all we requested but that would be great to have all working by default. Good for the price, and for families with kids. Needs some maintenance work on the facilities, everything a bit old. The best is the friendliness of the staff. A nice resort but a nightmare to reach unfortunately. Firstly, most of the staff and mainly Ana were brilliant to us. Really helped us when she could. We stayed here for 3 nights All inclusive. The food for the AI is not great unfortunately. The buffet in main restaurant regularly let us down. There is a nice beach and some really nice bars located close to the resort which are really nice. The resort also has security which makes a nice touch to keep street vendors away. Overall the value for money was only ok. Pity the roads leading to the hotel are so bad we probably will not go back again. I urge you not to use the main hotel taxi either Ask one of the receptionists for a cheaper one and they will help. Great resort, especially after the heat and filth of Stonetown. A relief! The rooms are lovely with local style carved furniture and bottled water replenished everyday. You cannot drink the tap water here. Air conditioning and the ceiling fan are great. Nice pool with swim up bar, but limited cocktails. Nice private beach area and the pool is relaxing too. Everything is kept in good condition and the staff are friendly and responsive. There are feral cats that will join you for dinner, they are friendly and you can pet them but be very careful. I work with feral cats at home and still managed to get bitten by getting too close to an injured area on one. Guest rep Anatolia was five stars and took excellent care of me and was pleasent in general. A diamond in the rough. The food is a little ho hum in the buffet, but better than you would find in town and much more convenient. Hopefully they will continue to improve in this area. Overall I had a great stay here and would be happy to come back. But unlike the Stonetown one, this Double Tree is a resort not a hotel. You are welcomed with an ice-cold hand towel and a refreshing berry drink and a homemade chocolate-chip cook-ii made right here while you go about with signing in! Than although us been late because the plane was delayed with take-off they keep the restaurant open for us to enjoy a buffet lunch! This was the start to Insidious-lii Delicious Meals everyday which included Wines of your choice! They have a very innovative way of making things easy and recognizable to their waiters they call it the Colour-Band system:- See attached photo! Some Meals are served inside the restaurant and some Outside and when seated outside a Live-Band is in attendance!! Absolute-lii awesome!!! The Chef,Kitchen staff and Waiters go out of their way to prepare everyday in a very Meticulous way, the foods are Exquisite and Insidious-lii Delicious not to Mention the Deserts! This Whole experience here is just like been on a Cruise-Ship! Every night the rooms are Sprayed with Mosquito Repellent, the Air-cons work Supa good as the Humidity Levels are of the Highest we have ever experienced in the world with our travels. But despite Hakuna Matata philosophy and Jambo greetings some of the staff has to be more friendly and client oriented. There was too much 'no towels, no room available, no wi-fi, no drinks' for all-inclusive package. Food also should be better in Hilton hotel. We visited on an All Inclusive basis, which includes a selection of unlimited drinks and three buffet meals every day. The food was delicious, and they varied the theme of the selection every night African, Mediterranean, seafood, etc. At night they also usually cook something unusual out on the beach in addition to the buffet, like octopus tentacles or goat meat that you can also try. They have a wide local fruit selection every day, and you can start each morning with fresh coconut water straight from a coconut from one of the resorts trees! All Inclusive includes some great local beers and a selection of cocktails, the quality of which varies from day to day depending on who makes them. The cocktail of the day at the pool bar is always a winner. The rooms all have air-conditioning which is a life saver and they are spacious and comfortable with great views. There are two power points right between the beds we had a twin room so you can keep your phone charging next to you while you sleep, which is awesome. The staff are very friendly, and will even phone your shuttle for you at reception if it is not on time. If you venture off into the main beach, they quite persistently hassle you to go on tours with them which is not advised, rather go on excursions with someone who has been recommended to you by friends you trust or by the hotel. We found that the best strategy to dealing with them is to tell them that you are leaving to go back home later that day. I would like to congratulate and thank the staff at Double Tree by Hilton, Nungwi, Zanzibar for the most amazing holiday of a lifetime!!!! We were in awe of the variety of food we had. They really catered for all cultures, tastes and spoilt kids. Our rooms were amazing, with the most heavenly bed to rest our weary bones on at night. The pool bar staff were the most friendliest, always smiling, kind and accommodating to a million requests a minute! We totally recommend the Safari Blue Tour!!!! Give yourselves a pat on the back!!! Quite a nice location for a getaway on the beach. Great location - hidden away from the main city. Food and room service is really good too. It is neither more nor less than what it purports to be. There is nothing culturally around the place and it all gets a bit artificial. You know what you get and in this light, I have no criticism of the place. Spent our honeymoon here.
