The only fault we had was that there was an English couple and a German couple that had to have 3 sunbeds for 2 people. We did speak with the poolside manager but nothing was done and there were people looking for sunbeds. Nice hotel, small and limited snorkel reef, low hygienic standards In a nutshell: The Steigenberger Coraya Beach is a nice hotel with excellent service. The snorkel reff did not meet our expectations and we had problems with our stomach so that we wanted to cancel our holidays. Hotel: The hotel is very nice with beautiful flower arrangements and the rooms and houses are arranged like a small village with nooks and crannies. There is a viewing tower to have a watch over the area and to see wonderful sunsets over the dessert. Next to the hotel is an active construction site Sep for another hotel. It was not that loud, but you could see and hear people working there. Rooms: The rooms are very well staffed with TV and hair dryer. You might need more electric sockets then available, so be prepared. You can get an iron board on request. In opposite to some reviews rooms and buildings are nicely renovated and you see people working on the maintenance every day. Beach: The beach goes around the bay wich is shared with another three hotels. Half of the beach belongs to Coraya Bay hotel. The sand is a little darker containing stones and corals, so you need bathing shoes. Unfortunately not to be recommended for beach lovers. There is a concrete way around the bay that is nice for taking walks in the evening or running in the morning. Pool: Pools and pool bar are nice. Unfortunately they do not have enough pads for every sun bed. We could not figure out if we were to late or spent too few tips on the pool boy, but we just had pads once in 10 days. This is not appropriate for a five star hotel. Reef: The reef has a border line you are not allowed to cross. So you can not snorkel above the reef. Anyway depending on the tide it might be to flat to get over. So you can only watch the reef edge from the side. It is not that big and the bay is shared with four hotels, so it becomes quite busy under water like on a main station. Fish and choral density is not that high. For those who have snorkel experiences it may be disappointing. Service: The service is excellent. This includes everyone in any position. The staff is talking english or german and of course arabic. They really care for your well-beeing and are open for small talks. They are always in a positive authentic mood. Food: The food tasted really great. No matter if in the a la carte restaurant or at the buffet. Unfortunately we became simultaneously sick after four days. Additionally I got fever. We met many other guests that suffered the same, so that noone was sure what to eat for dinner. We only ate and drank at the hotel, brushed our teeth with mineral water and respected 'peel it, cook it or forget it'. Doctor: Due to the illness we took a visit at the hotel clinic. Findings was bacterial infection. I got two injections with antibiotics and a 40 minutes therapy with electrolytes. He did not ask about prior diseases or other medication that might interfere with his drugs. When we talked about canceling hour holidays he did everything to convince us for staying. Additionally the written diagnosis was travelling diarrhea. No mentioning about the infection or measured fever. This seems to be a political decision to prevent legal actions against the hotel. When paying via credit card, the doctor recalculates the price in Egyptian pounds with a fixed rate of 21 to 1. Its even higher than the price he is actually charging. The hotel has good food, a selection of restaurants, entertainment, wonderful views, great staff and coral reef to snorkel around. Not considered a family hotel over 16 only but great to relax and be pampered. We stayed here for a week in February , it is such a beautiful place, perfect in every way. The rooms were lovely, the food was brilliant with so much choice, plenty of space around the 3 pools and also on the private beach. Everything is easily accessible in short walking distances, which I found very comfortable. Landscaping is beautiful. Kitchen amazing. Evening entertainment is classy and stylish.
