Very modern, clean hotel, large rooms within a penthouse floor. Some with balconies with views of Colombo suburbs and some with beach views. Great friendly staff, and breakfast was very delicious. Some Sri Lankan specialities, and more western regulars. Interior designs were beautiful, friendly nice staff and breakfast was delicious. It is beautifully kept and pristine and the staff and breakfast is great. Also very far from Airport and main Colombo city. This is the place to stay If you want to feel like home, decoration is great, bedroom and living room are clean and well maintained. Staff were nice. When we stayed there for almost 8 days there was maintenance happening both in the same floor as us and as well as upstairs. The owners should have advised us that this was happening before we booked. Also the owners should have advised the people from upstairs that there were guests downstairs and make them aware with the maintenance hammering upstairs was annoying as It started at 7. We alerted the owners but nothing was done about it! Also the Owners are always around so no proper privacy. I would stay elsewhere next time. Overall the stay was satisfactory apart from the disturbance and lack of privacy. During your recent stay at the Penthouse Above sea where you stayed sharing a room with two other men, roof repair work was urgently needed due to water leakage from the roof top terrace during heavy rainfall. It was not pre-planned work to inform you in advance. The work was completed within the shortest possible time ensuring minimum disturbance to the guests. The owners work full time and are always available to attend to guest needs with great respect for the privacy of guests. We are fully aware of our responsibilities and obligations for our guests and the community. As responsible hoteliers, we do not allow our guests to entertain young underage local boys in their rooms and ensure our premises is not used by any guest for illegal activities and drug abuse. I am pleased to hear that you would stay elsewhere next time as the Penthouse Above Sea is not suitable for your purpose. Great staff. Breakfast was delicious. So glad we stayed here. We are surprised to hear your comment that you experienced difficulty connecting to our high speed internet service as you never mentioned about it to us during your two day stay with us. We have ultra-high speed Wi-Fi through Fibre Optic backbone connectivity throughout our property with several access points providing uninterrupted Wi-Fi connectivity in all our public areas, guest rooms and even balconies and furthest ends of the terraces. The only thing that I can think of is that you probably connected to an access point such as our office or a terrace far away from your room. It is unfortunate that you choose to mention it in a review but never mentioned it during your stay as we would have been able to assist you instantly. We decided to do something different on our visit to Sri Lanka and stay in an apartment rather than a hotel and what a good decision that was. We were welcomed at 1am in the morning by the hosts Ranjith and Chitra to welcome us and their hospitality continued throughout the week. The property is located next to the train station for a cheap convenient 20 minute train journey to Colombo Fort. There is a plethora of local restaurants for cheap eats and a supermarket at the bottom of the building. Although the apartments does not have sea views, these can be captured from the balconies of the penthouse living area where you can watch the sun set and watch life go by. The breakfast was simple but devine, If you had any specific needs, I am sure you would be accommodated. Cleanliness was superb and the staff so polite and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay. The Superior rooms booked by us were very small. They had all the necessary amenities but there was no space to do anything. There is no staff to help you with your luggage. The property is a little difficult to find. But the view from the terrace is superb. You can enjoy the sunset and swim in the amazing swimming pool. Highly recommened for couple, less so for family with children. A very new property located centrally in Colombo. Furnishing is fabulous and tastefully designed. We loved it but it was a little bit away from activities in Colombo and no shopping around. We were travelling from Bentota to Colombo using the state bus. It was easy to find, and the ambience strikes as excellent from the word go. The room was very comfortable. We had a 'shared' bathroom, which was removed from our bedroom, but was dedicated to us. The breakfast spread was adequate and tasty. The staff was very courteous and helped us throughout our stay. We had a brilliant stay at the Penthouse. Chitra and Ranjit looked after every small need of ours. It is very seldom that one sees such level of personal care put into looking after guests. The staff is exceptionally well trained and polite! An amazing place with fabulous views over Colombo. We spent hours on the balcony watching the world go by from the irratic traffic, children at school, locals commuting to and from work via the train station just next door. Nothing is too much trouble for Chitra and her amazing staff. Great breakfast. The apartment has shared common areas and is at the top of a residential block. Tuk Tuks are cheap and plentiful to explore the surrounding areas. Although the property has a shared rooftop pool I would not recommend this property for British tourists looking for poolside relaxation All in all a perfect stay for us, thank you Chitra.
