We had seen this hotel and initially planned just to visit it during our stay but thankfully we decided to splash out and book a room here and we were so glad we did. You only need one night here to fully appreciate it and it is so much fun. There are lovely gardens to walk around, a revolving coffee car at the top and the ship plays a chime every morning 20 minutes There are lovely gardens to walk around, a revolving coffee car at the top and the ship plays a chime every morning 20 minutes before sunrise so you can get up and watch the magnificent sunrise in the sculpture park. There is a small supermarket in the hotel and bakery and there is stove in your room so we had a very enjoyable home cooked spagetti dinner to save on our budget. Some reviews mention that it is hard to get to the Suncruise without your own transport, we managed fine. We arrived from Samcheok via the seaside train booked by tourist info booth in Samcheok , took a taxi to the Suncruise from the train station W4, and then took the bus which goes from the car park in front of the Suncruise to Gangneung Express and Intercity bus stations 40 mins W2, for our onward bus to Daegu. This hotel is just fantastic, we loved every second of the novelty of being in a ship on land, we booked a garden view room which had no balcony, but it was at the very front of the ship with a magnificent sea, garden and sunrise view. It is expensive but well worth the price if you enjoy novelty hotels like we do. The service that the hotel provided was more than awesome! We missed our lunch and the hotel allowed to have coffee after the breakfast time was over. This kindness and service deserve the best mark. I will definitely stay with this listening every time I'm in Sokcho and I will definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends. Thank you for having us and making our tr Thank you for having us and making our trip remarkable. Pros: - The location is very nice. Not too far of a taxi ride from the station and close to the beach. Cons: - The fridge wasn't that cold. They did call the store They did call the store for us to see if they still had ice. But I expected full service from a 5-star hotel. It was not a full ocean view but could still see it if from one angle in the room or when you went out to the balcony. A representative called the next day but said nothing was found. Overall: The hotel itself is big, new, and clean. The staff is friendly, but also slightly awkward perhaps due to lack of experience. Lastly, I expected better service from a 5-star hotel. This place has the best hospitality to include free drinks water, coke, sprite, water bottle, etc Tooth brush and everything else in the room are all free. The slippers are disposable, not those cheap reusable leather slippers. The towels are American size large s The towels are American size large shower towel. If you ask anything extra, they are all free and included. I highly recommend this place to people that want a large space, view, and great hospitality. I say this because I went to Yeosu and paid pretty much the same cost for a place called the Hidden Bay, and I felt like I downgraded big time I am very impressed witg Phoenix Park Ski resort. The hotel provides us all necessary kitchenware to prepare meals. Plus, There is a supermarket in the resort area. The ondul condo is very clean and warm, you have to bring your own bathroom amenity suc The ondul condo is very clean and warm, you have to bring your own bathroom amenity such as toothbrush, shampoo, liquid soap etc. I left my bag and thought I lost it in the toilet at another building. I rushed to the condo and asked Ms Kim to help find the bag, she accompanied me back to the building , communicated with the staff, looked into the cctv with me and finally found the maid who help kept my bag with all my money and passport inside. She was so sweet and very much impressed me with her hospitality. I will definitely visit Korea and stay at the resort again. Manager was friendly with good English, and breakfast buffet had a decent selection. The kids loved the 1 minute walk to the beach, and all the bathrooms had been nicely renovated. Overall, good for the p Overall, good for the price. My family and I vacationed here during our summer vacation. It was 'Golden Week' in Korea so we ended up paying double the regular rate. So that's why I rated the value for money a 3 star. It is beautiful and very nice. Everything is modern and even the entrance is very grand. Our room had partial view, but it was perfect. We saw the harbor and the sea-green water. We had two beds in the room and each were large definitely not single beds. The room and bathroom were very clean, as well. The water in the hotel is hot when first turned on. That was a surprise. If you don't plan to go out, you can go upstairs to the rooftop and have some drinks. The food menu wasn't vast, but the beer was unlimited. When you go out to the large terrace and look below, you can see the coral and sea-green water. I actually didn't know that mainland Korea had that color sea. If you want to leave the hotel, you need a car. Nothing is close by walking. I was there to ski and was surprised that the hotel was not within walking distance to the ski place like what the website claims to be. Nonetheless, there is a shuttle bringing us to and fro the ski house albeit a little inconvenient. The hotel is comparable to international 5 stars hotel. Staff were attentive, helpful and initiated. Though most of them could not The housekeeping staff provided impeccable service as well. The chambermaids were all smiles and polite whenever we saw them along the corridors. What pleasantly surprised us was, the hotel has a pillow bank with 9 different types of pillows for guests to choose from. And these pillows are complimentary, at two per room. If I am not going there to ski, i will definitely stay in High 1 Grand Hotel again. Location was good, between sea and Seoraksan. For a family with children the two playgrounds across the street were great. The bed was very hard as mentioned before. The room was actually quite wi The room was actually quite with dark curtains, but the water pipes of rooms around us were a bit noisy. The owner was nice and spoke good English. I feel fantastic casino, but near area is drab city. I am make recommend that you are stay resort without go around. Beautiful hotel overlooking Gyeongpo lake and at the back is Gyeongpo beach. We got upgraded to 10th floor with beautiful lake view. The international buffet dinner was very nice with good varieties. The dessert was excellent. Distance by taxi to other attraction places just within 15 to 20 minutes. Highly recommended to stay in this hotel. This is one This is one of the best hotels we had stayed so far. I've been to this hotel twice. I chose it because it is a 5-star hotel for the price of a 3 or 4 star hotel. While it certainly isn't the most luxurious hotel around, it is quite clean and the room are spacious and convenient. The view is not great on any The view is not great on any side of the hotel, which is one major downside. Also, the TV screens are rather small. I have not tried the food, room service, or the business center, so I can't comment on those. But the hotel is very close to the beach, which is another main reason I chose it. Very new, clean hotel. A bit far from the city but if you don't mind 10 minutes drive it ia great. Nice room, nice breakfast, nice service. All the staffs try their best to provide the best service and help to us. Hotel is near the central of city and food market. Also is a minute walk from the bus terminal and KTX Gangneung station. Will stay here again when I come Gangneung next time. The hotel was well decorated to create a festive mood for Christmas. The rooms were clean with a beautiful view that overlooked the garden. The beds were very comfortable. It snowed heavily during our stay there and we had a great time taking photos and playing with the snow. They even had a small animal farm which delighted my kids. We especially want to thank IRENE LEE at the recep who went out of her way to book transport for us to go Yongpyong Ski Resort and other places, there was great follow-up to ensure our requests were carried through. Thank you, Kensington Flora. Took a taxi from Gangneung KTX station to the hotel, which took 5min and cost us won only. We booked a standard double room, and I immediately loved the room when I saw it - it was very tastefully but minimally decorated and felt very cosy. It was pretty spacious for 2pax, and they'd provided Aveda toiletries, which I was quite impressed by. Breakfast was equally s Breakfast was equally simple but impressive. Don't really have any complaints about it, would love to come back again! A clean and modern hotel. Friendly and nice staff, that speak English. Price was a bit high, but I think this is because of the Winter Olympics - normally I would expect the price to be quite reasonable. Conveniently located for visiting the Gangneung Olympic Park. Stayed 3 nights at this hotel. You will have to walk up a small slope to reach the hotel from the bus stop and you will pass by a few night clubs along the way. So, it was also still managable. There is a huge range of TV channels to choose from. The bed is very comfy, the staff are also very helpful and friendly. However, I think that it is not necessary to book for the sea view, as I believe all the sea view will be blocked by a building in front as mine was blocked even though I stayed at quite a high floor. If you look straight, you will see the building, but left and right, you are still able to see the sea view. Overall, I had a great stay in this hotel. As the hotel staff speaks very limited English, it took us a lot of time to get the free shuttle bus timetable between Yongpyong resort and Hoenggye bus station close to AM hotel. The bus departs from Yongpyong resort Blisshill, 1st Floor, bus parking lot at 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17, The bus departs from Hoenggye a The bus departs from Hoenggye a post office, abt 10 min walking from AM hotel at 5. Our stay wiuld have been great if not for the bathroom. Thought this hotel was part of High1 on the other side of the mountain and not in Kangwon Land Casino, turned out I was wrong and it is right next to the Casino. Anyway, it all turned out great. There are a few signs saying High1 Convention Hote So I was very confused during check in. But the available photos confirmed it and a few visible signs confirmed it. The food around the area is really good, but you must order what the restaurant is good at. World Fusion is good at buffets so eat that and do not order from the menu. Orien is great Japanese food, so dont order the chinese It is very easy to get to the ski area, it is just a few stops away. In general a bus comes by every 30 min. Ask concierge for the schedule. Or just take a taxi, it is very near and cheap; about krw. I didn't realize it when I booked the hostel for my friend and I, but the place has only been open for a month. We stayed in the 8-bed dorm room that was separate from the rest of the guesthouse, and it was also wonderfully clean. I appreciat I appreciated the individual bunk spaces that came complete with an individual light and outlet for charging electronics. There were also blinds for each bunk to provide privacy and to shut out the main light. The staff are incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised that the man working the reception desk spoke English. Additionally, the location of the guesthouse is very convenient -- right across from the main bus terminal and a 5 minute walk from the beach. The bus stop to all parts of the city including Seoraksan national park is just outside the guesthouse too. Our stay was excellent. Room next to slopes, so we had a great view all the time. Felt the build quality and hotel furnishings are all high quality, befitting of a 4-star hotel. Service staff could speak English, although not very well. We only have one minor issue. Our stay here was only marred by one incident - when we came back to our room after snowboard, we foun Our stay here was only marred by one incident - when we came back to our room after snowboard, we found our door wide open. We believe this was an honest mistake by the cleaning staff. And we made sure nothing was missing. We had already brought up to the management and they had apologized profusely for it. Just wanted to state the reviews as it is. This issue didn't impact my 5 star review of the hotel. This resort is a GEM if you're skiing in High 1. Shuttle bus ride takes only 3min, starts fr am and runs every half hr in the morning and every hour after noon till 11pm. In my opinion, there's no point paying a premium to stay within the High 1 Resort itself coz you have to take shuttle bus to your ski start point anyway. Best part of this hotel is the ski shop lo Best part of this hotel is the ski shop located on its 1st level. We enagaged a ski instructor through them and paid , won for 2 pax for 2 hours of lesson. Though the instructor knows limited English, we picked up just fine, since most skills can be demonstrated through universal actions. Thank God for this huge savings as the High 1 ski resort charges exhorbitant price for ski lessons almost 4x more!! Rental of the gear was also at a steep discount vs High 1. All in all, thanks to the ski shop, we saved a lot for our 3 days of ski. We chose indol type of room. It was warm and cosy, with a small kitchenette. Amenities within are basic but sufficient. There is a Convenience store Iocated in B1 which we got our breakfast and supper from. As per most of the reviewers feedback, indeed, the hotel and ski shop staff do not speak English. Whenever we need to communicate with them, we will tap on the wifi at the lobby and use google translate to show them our message in Korean. And tadah! Everything is resolved! You just have to be more creative, it's not a big issue to us at all! The hotel is clean. Our room had a stove, refrigerator, and rice cooker, so we could have prepared meals if we wanted to. There is a large convenience store located on the bottom floor. They also have a coin laundry on that level. We ate at the breakfast buffet restaurant. They had a wide variety of choices- both Korean and Western. We walked to Waterpia next to the ho We walked to Waterpia next to the hotel. Guests get a discount. We would stay here again. The place is spacious and clean, just as advertised. Location is perfect as it is very near a lot of convenience stores there is one below the hotel, but the choices are quite limited , a bus terminal, and the Sokcho beach. The host I met, Jina unnie is super friendly, gave information about travelling in Gangneung. And breakfast prepared by her was super great! Like the environment where the guests have breakfast together and morning talk. Would like to come back for a longer stay in future. Location not too far from the traditional market. Noted that Agoda did not indicate the check i Noted that Agoda did not indicate the check in and check out time which is supposed to be 4pm and 11am respectively. Strictly for sleep. However the capsules were very cozy. Just a curtain that gives u privacy. Though the curtain is only opaque halfway up. Bathrooms were small but clean. The staff gives sandwiches and fish cakes for free for breakfast. Also the location is fantastic. If not just get up and check out the communal window. It was a really 5 star stay in Marine guesthouse. The staff are helpful and nice, the room was clean and tidy, 1 min from the harbor, quite but convenient area. It is your best choice in Sokcho. The location is convenient to catch a bus to Mt Seorak 30mins. Host kindly provided maps and information on attractions, food and bus services to all guests checking in. Facilities are very good, with a cosy breakfast room, books for reading, and there is a toilet for each room 4 pax. Only con is there was a mosquito in my room for 2 out of 3 nights. However, this is not a big issue and can be resolved easily by the host. The moment we reached the hotel, we have been welcomed by the owner who is very friendly. We quite surprised that the owner memorized our booking name. The dorm is very clean and comfortable. Great place for a stopover in Sokcho! We stayed for one week and felt very much like home. The place was very quiet as in very few guests when we stayed We went hiking for a few days and left our luggage behind at no cost. The hosts are very nice and helpful, breakfast is the best we had since travelling in Asia for the And Mr. Egg is a very fun and funky place Creatively decorated, spacious, chill out spaces, large breakfast area, fridge, free washing machine, maps, water dispenser cold and hot , etc Basically everything anyone could need including 'vagabonds' like us. It even comes with a convenience store around the corner same building and its own church lovely music on Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended! The hotel is named wrongly and there was no one at the hotel counter for almost 1. I had to go to nearby hotel desk and ask for help who finally came and help me. The booking was not getting accepted but was given room finally. Though there is nearby Soraksan Tourism office and Police Station as well Fire Station, but finding the place was difficult. I term it again my language problem, But overall I would recommend its facilities like kitchen and comfortable spend time at this hotel for family. The owner is extremely helpful and very nice. There is free pick up from bus or train station and they can provide you with a lot of information about sights and public transportation. Although their English is a limited we could communicate easily. He showed me around the area and gave me some useful tips! The dorm I slept in was very nice. Breakfast is included. One of the best places I have been in 11 month travelling Asia! They are really helpful, the owner speaks korean and her son who was there for a weekend english. Even before talking to him, was easy to communicate everything we needed with the owner lady, she is really nice. Its about 2. The lady boss and her husband provide excellent services. They are very helpful and friendly. They helped me to order seafood at the restaurant. They gave me ideas for places to visit and provide us with directions. The room is super clean and the bed is very comfortable. The shower water is hot and strong. The air con is strong, cold and silent during hot summer. We slept very well. Simple and declicious breakfast provided. Kitchen is neat and clean. My daughter and I have had a great, memorable time in Sokcho due to warm hospitality of this guesthouse. Thank you to Judith and Mr Lee. Anyone who come to Sokcho should stay at this guest house. It is located near the fisheries market and abai village. It is best location to travel around Sokcho. The bus stop is just near the guest house and is convenient. We will definitely come back to stay at this guesthouse. Highly recommend to anyone who come to Sokcho. So far the best guesthouse I have stayed. They are the best. You couldnt get more central than this hotel. The rooms have remote control lights, elec toilets, desktop computer, huuugggee TV and everything else you can think of. The rooms are large and clean. For such a cheap price this place is amazing! We stayed in some 4 and 5 star hotels in Korea that didnt have all the things this place had. The room had a bit of a love v The room had a bit of a love vibe to it with coloured lights and funky wallpaper but it didnt feel sleezy like some of the love hotels we stayed in. The host, Mr Kim, was very very helpful but couldn't speak too much english, but enough to help us out with everything. Made a last minute decision to stay in Donghae for a night. This was the first place we found. Great decision. Loved hanging out at the bar in the evening and taking in the chill surfer vibes. Then waking up to fresh beach air on the patio the next morning was tops. I came to the office very late at 11 p. The room was neat and tidy. Most of all, I really want you to have dinner party. I can meet many good people with the host! I loved it so much that I spent two nights! The place needed some repairs, especially in the main lobby floor. All the tiles were loose and wobbled when walked on. The mattress is not the best. However location is fantastic and clean! I arrived to find the hostel shut and locked up. It is an annexe of the Seongrim Guest House next door and with the help of another english speaking lodge operator I was able to get a bed at the guest house. Communication was not easy as this place is not set up for foreign tourists. The facilities are ok and the location near Seoraksan national park very good. Very valuable. Although there a bunk bed in the room, the size of the room is really big enough which is out of our expectation. Moreover, the view of our room is wonderful. Though my Korean is very poor and the staff is not good at English, he used 'Translate' to tried his best to understand our needs and provide help. He is very nice and helpful. We came here at the time of super peak season in Korea. Anyway, we booked here just 5 hours we came. This was so great for its price and seasonality. I highly recommend this place for just everyone. This is really the guesthouse type- it has a very homey atmosphere. We traveled as a family, including a 3-year-old boy. The host was really nice to us. He was very approachable and mild-mannered. We got a good deal because we visited during low season winter. There are bunch of motels along the beaches area which is very popular in warm seasons. As it is located 'out of the way' from downtown, one has to expect to walk a certain distance after dropping off the nearest bus stop. We were told by google map that several buses you can take e. Commuting took us around 0. You can access to the famous Tofu Village easily in 15 mins walk. There are some food places near the colourful bridge next to Kyungpo beach. We enjoyed our stay overall. Excellent competitively priced hotel. We plan to go back on our next visit to Chuncheon. The boss and staff spoke minimal English but they were extremely helpful and friendly. The boss always tries his best to communicate with us in English. They helped us with our laundry washing, drying and even folding them and refused any payment for their service. The hotel room is clean and spacious. The only downside of the hotel is its WiFi which cannot connect t The only downside of the hotel is its WiFi which cannot connect to foreign devices properly. Funny thing is that it's only mobile phones that has connection problem, but it works fine on laptops. Overall it was a pleasant experience staying there! The place was very clean and comfortable. The host of the guesthouse was very friendly, although her English was not that good, she will try her best to provide assistance, even invite me to have dinner with her family. This place was wonderful! The room was well appointed, with TV, computer, wi-fi, fridge, stove, kettle, rice cooker and a microwave and washing machine upstairs. The bed was comfortable, the decor was tasteful, and the best thing was how wonderfully helpful and friendly the staff was! He helped me find an exchange bank even drove me there himself! It's a little far out of Sokcho proper, and doesn't have beach views, but it's super accessible to the beach, and a short walk from the bus stop. It is a little bit off the main road, but exactly where it looks like it is on the map, so I had no problem finding it at all. I was here during the week, so the town was super quiet and deserted, but I get the feeling that it's probably a lot more lively on weekends when the weather is nice. Check in doesn't start until 4 pm which is amazingly late. They market themselves as a party hostel so those usually aren't the cleanest. Although there wasn't any particular problem with mold or smells, I was there for 3 nights and they never once cleaned the room or bathroom. There was a lot of paper and plastic trash around the room that me and some other guests cle There was a lot of paper and plastic trash around the room that me and some other guests cleaned up. There was also a pile of wet towels just sitting in the bathroom and little packets of body wash and shampoo everywhere. Would have been better had they just had a big shampoo container attached to the wall in the shower. The location was a bit far from the central but located at beach, if you are a beach lover you would like it. The staffs helped me a lot when I stayed there which was really nice. The room was clean and tidy, more than just a guesthouse. Good location for the remote stay and to have a rest out of a busy life. Not easy to access with public transportation. Private car is mandatory to travel to and from this hotel This hotel is not running restaurant, but near the entrance is found a good one. Good to take a walk around and to rest. But peak days need more staff. We enjoyed this hotel very much. It was a modern updated hotel that was clean and comfortable. No bath tub and little to no drawer space, but it did not feel too small. The breakfast buffet was amazing! We would have liked to try their dinner but they were closed for Chuseok. Surprisingly, the staff speaks very little English. The hotel is located in the middle of a fa Although the hotel is a little bit old, it still very clean and neat. It not so far away from the center of the city, only taking maybe won to go to the downtown by taxi. The view around the hotel is really good. They got lake and hill to see which u just need to open the curtain. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was located one road back from the beach and has a bridge that connects the parking lot to the beach. We drove here and liked the fact that there was an Emart and many Korean resteraunts only a 15 minute drive away. The food at the hotel was very expensive so we did not eat any meals at the hotel. The indoor jjimjilbang was nice The indoor jjimjilbang was nice but would have been better if there was a coed area. We were told we would have a bathtub but did not, we did however have a very nice indoor balcony area that was gat for relaxing at night and for seeing the sunrise. When we asked to have a room with a tub they took us to another room which had one but the room itself smelled really bad of cigarettes and did not have a balcony so we went back to the first room they gave us. Overall a good stay but pretty expensive. In the future I would probably look for a bnb or Pension that is directly on the beach. The hotel is about minutes from High-1 ski resort. The staff was very helpful and when we checked in we were supposed to have a room that slept 4 adults. However, there was only 1 western bed and a floor pad. We asked if we could move to another room with 2 beds and instead they gave us 2 different rooms and did not charge for an additional room. It was a nice ge It was a nice gesture and made our stay more enjoyable. There was a nice jimjilbang and sauna which was great after a long day of skiing. Also, the restaurant had an all you can eat Korean BBQ that was only won but you had to cook your own food. There was also a bar for evening drinks and breakfast buffet in the morning. The rooms were clean, large and comfortable. The stay was pleasant, the room was nice and clean - very comfy. This hotel was a great choice. It is a bit out of town but close to several attractions. Hotel is a bit outdated and bathroom could have been cleaner. We stayed in the deluxe room and it was perfect for our family. Very roomy with dining room table, small kitchenette, couch, tv and separate bedroom. We only went once because of the price but the kids had a lot of fun. For those going for pokemon go, there is a pokespot right in the middle of the courtyard and we could play from our room. It's take 3mins walking distance from resort to ski entrance. A supermarket and few restaurant in the tower. Room is clean with stable heat Room is clean with stable heater. Can't complain one of best stays in Korea. I stayed at a standard room the cheapest with no view but the bed was extremely comfortable and rest room was very clean. I saw staff cleaning the hotel facilities all the time. Superb facilities I loved the Mar Therapy offed by the Spa. Overall great value. We stayed in the hotel portion of the resort for a 3 day weekend, mainly to hike in Seoraksan. The room had 2 queens beds, large enough for my husband and I and our 3 kids, and a balcony with a fantastic view of the golf course and the mountains. The entire resort looks very new. The good: there are restaurants and a convenience store on site. It was very close to It was very close to the park and not to far from the beach at Sokcho and the beds were super comfy! We got a great deal for the room. The could-be-better: this resort caters to Koreans, which is fine. There is not very much information in English, the staff is not overly helpful, the layout is confusing we went to one building to check in but were told to go to another building, but then tried to exchange money at the counter where we tried to check in - there was even a sign with the day's exchange rate, but were told to go to the first building we were at , don't know if we had to arrange for or pay extra for housekeeping but our room was not made up even though the cleaning staff was working our floor, the one restaurant we went to Viento was pricey but the food was good, the fridge kept our beverages barely above room temperature. Bottom line, I would stay there again if I got the same deal, but it's a bit far from other restaurants and civilization, so I may stay closer to Sokcho.
