I like that analogy. What many people don't seem to realize is that metabolically, there is very little difference between HFCS and sugar as in the white refined beet or cane sugar that everybody is familiar with. Sugar is sucrose, a disaccharide, consisting of a molecule of glucose and a molecule of fructose joined together. So the amount of fructose in HFCS is only a slight amount more than in sugar. With such a small difference, it is doubtful that there is any significant difference in either the taste or the health effects.
