Anyone got any idea how much food and drink is? Not been before. Been to Andora before and beers were about 5euro. Heard that french resorts are euro?! We were there in summer so out-of-season prices might apply, but nothing was too excessive. Couple of euros for an icecream, I think 10 euros for a pub meal with a pint. Lunch in the mountain restaurants is very expensive as Shifter states, though there is loads of places to choose from. We tended to drink in the hotel bar where they had a reasonable happy hour and then take advantage of the free wine with the evening meal. The couple of times we went out beer was stupidly expensive — though can remember the exact prices. Skiing is superb though which makes up for the high prices. Just got fed up with being ripped off and not getting value for money. We normally pick resorts on the French Italian border, so you can ski both sides and eat in the Italian side much better value for money. If you would like an inexpensive lunch, but not on the mountain, Tignes le lac, Spar I think has an excellent take out, always a couple of hot options, even has a few tall bar tables in the entrance to nosh at. The prices above are about right…. Personally I love Tignes though, the ski area is great and I like the atmosphere. The Spar shop is awesome for lunch times. Just off the piste and cheap, I think last year I got a baguette and a can of coke for 5 euro. Free wifi too. Also, taking the steps just to the left of the Spar takes you to an ok restaurant, can get a pizza and a pint for about 15 euro. There are some cheapish places to eat in Val, though choose wisely, some of them are quite expensive, 50 euro for a burger!!! Which bit of Tignes? Le Coffee bar the best Vin Chaud.
