In this short-ski trip of three days we decided to go to this resort on our last day, as the weather forecasts showed even some sun on that day. Waking up early and opening the curtains we saw the weatherman did not have made their best prediction of the season. We made it a very fast breakfast, got our skiing material and went to the bus station at the Giggijoch station as fast as possible. From this point it takes approximately 40 minutes by bus to get to the ski lifts of Obergurgl-Hochgurgl. He turns on a small light by focusing on the center of the stone through his magnifying glasses. Checking accurately all inclusions and qualities, every single stone is a treasure. A collector of minerals can tell you heaps of stories about his exhibits. Over the last decades, Walter has carried hundreds of stones from Gurgler Kamm ridge down to the valley floor. The mountain of all mountains Exposed, steep, dangerous: Granatenkogel peak reveals its treasures only to experienced alpinists. His backpack was full of slate, mica, granite and muscovite. Maybe this is one of the reasons why he is in such a good physical shape although he is already 74 years old. There is a high danger of falling and therefore the area is only suitable for very experienced alpinists. Walter Riml wants to show me a very outstanding place.
