Top Hotels With Bar - Canillo. All Cities. Hotel Roc Meler. Canillo 0. Excellent 42 Reviews. Breakfast Included. Great staff, great hotel. You will want a car ideally and spaces directly outside are limited but think there's paid parking or just up the hill. We stayed to try out grandvalira ski area, which has a lot of mileage but needs decent snow coverage and runs are shorter than the classic alpine resorts - enjoyable nevertheless. Anyway as family with two 15 year old boys we booked two rooms at good rates for 4 nights. Breakfasts good and plentiful but bean to cup machine can't really make espresso to speak of. Bar had table football, pool, plus other games so good for a drink and some fun. Didn't try food there in the evening. Rooms very comfortable, quiet. Shower works fine but don't expect a torrent. Front desk staff lovely Alex from memory but all the others as well. Recommend without hesitation. I practically melted down running easy on treadmill even with the small desk fan and my own portable gym fan. Cooling may be difficult as it's buried deep in the building but ideally a portable Aircon or really strong fan. It's clear nobody uses it as a result since the water wasn't refilled for two days. And not related to the hotel, we found it easier to drive to the long telecabine in encamp to get into the middle of the skiing area, we almost got stuck trying to navigate the tricky lift combo to get back to the Canillo telecabine. Anyway thanks to roc meller team for a lovely stay. Excellent 11 Reviews. Soldeu 0. Outstanding 43 Reviews. Everything is the best in this hotel. The minute you enter to the hotel, everything is taken care for you. The Best service check in! The best food! The best stuff service, very kind and friendly. Best recommended hotel in Andorra! Hotel Bonavida. Very Good 6 Reviews. Serras Andorra. Canillo 5. Outstanding 40 Reviews. The hotel was excellent, cosy, warm, spacious rooms, staff excellent and very efficient shuttle bus to the slopes in El Tarter. However the best thing for us was really excellent vegan food in the restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their food from what I could tell. We were delighted with four courses every evening in the Crystal Ski package deal. Would recommend highly. Excellent 41 Reviews. Park Piolets is by far the best hotel I ever been. It was the 7th time this year and the experience surpasses itself every year. The buffet is large, various and delicious. The spa is great. You can book a massage if you want. There is wifi in the whole hotel. The bar is very cosy. The rooms are pretty big and has a big bathroom with a bath and shower and quality local products. There's a television, a refrigerator and a beatiful view! The services are amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I don't remember a lot, but I will nevera forget the names of the staff. I'm sorry, You didn't had a name card. I hope to see you next year! Hotel Llop Gris. El Tarter 0. Very Good 24 Reviews. A lovely warm welcome by the staff at the hotel Our room is ok, it has a hairdryer, hand soap, shampoo, shower gel, cottton wool buds and cotton wool pads, tissues, tv, tea and coffee making facilities and a kettle. Heated Ski lockers are on lower floor of the hotel, they were included in our price held 2 x boots and skis The room was warm, and worked well. We had a small balcony There is a gym with a few bits of equipments, a spa, a sauna, jacuzzi and a pool. I think the pool is probably about 10 metres long. And interesting and definitely worth knowing is that in the side of the pool below the waterline are two windows- these windows are seen through a local bar -Nemos! Dinner in the evening was waiter served, choices of 3 items-starter, main and pudding. Aspen bar in Soldeu Good prices for beer and Guinness, nice atmosphere NEMOS This is just around the corner from Llop Gris hotel Happy hour Tuesday to Sunday You can see the pool from llop gris hotel Good fun Great atmosphere Toulouse airport Water fountain if you have a refillable bottle is opposite gate 33 down by the toilet entrance. Hotel Nordic. Excellent 39 Reviews. Very Good 2 Reviews. Stayed in a pleasant modern 1 bedroom apt operated by Pierre et Vacances booked through Crystal Ski. Disappointed to find reception didn't open until 3pm and rooms unavailable until 5pm having been dropped off at bus stop down the road by Crystal transfer coach from Toulouse. However we got into apt soon after 3pm. Reception staff v helpful. Hard to find our ski store room in basement car park and way out. This was also unheated and v wet. Should have hired a locker near lift as hard work with 2 young children walking uphill to gondola or chair lift carrying skis and crossing busy road. We asked for twin beds and got them. Heating good with lots of adjustable radiators for drying gear. No plug for kitchen sink or bath and not available. Toaster caused a power cut but easy to right in fuse box and reception provided a brand new toaster. Well equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery and good utensils. Big fridge freezer. Microwave and electric oven and 3 induction rings. Dishwasher and washing machine. Small pack of cleaning stuff provided. Towels and bed linen changed mid week but not cleaned. Fairly quiet except for the odd door bang. TV with BBC news. Good WiFi. No view. Easy to open windows with roller shutters. Good well lit and ventilated bathroom with bidet, loo and bath unusable with no plug! Not much in village and spoilt by busy main road. Lot of ongoing smart apt devpt. Supermarket 10 min walk down road and good shop in petrol station over the road. We used Euroski hotel's swimming pool and sauna jacuzzi and steam room not working 10 mins safe walk up road towards Soldeu. You can also go to Llop Gris pool in village near chair lift. All worked well for us but it's nothing special and lacks real charm and character like most of Andorra. El Tarter. Frequently Asked Questions. How do I book a hotel on Trip. Backpacking in Andorra: Canillo

Backpacking in Andorra: Canillo. After a successful day backpacking Pas de la Casa , I felt so inspired by Andorra, that I went and visited Canillo, 10km out of town back up the road towards the French border. A return ticket un bilete de regresso a Canillo costs 3. And checking out the map outside the Tourist Office, I found many hidden gems to go and check out. Andorra is a complete mind-blow. It's such a small country but packed full of things to see. It goes well beyond being a place for winter sports and duty-free shopping. In the end, I would spend 10 days in Andorra. That's 5 times as many days as I spent in Barcelona. It's not that Andorra is off the beaten track but it's off the radar for most travellers, backpackers, and tourists. The crowd would rather go to Barcelona, Madrid, or Rome. Because what's the point in going somewhere where most have no clue where it even is? Where did you go on holiday? Where the hell is that? And the conversation is over. But if you went to Barcelona and you got drunk in a bar on La Rambla, the conversation would be ongoing, discussing the best bars to get drunk in and how La Rambla was a lot wilder back in the day or how they got pickpocketed again. And if your budget can't handle France or Spain, I let you in on a secret. Andorra is so much cheaper than its neighbours. It's a tax-free haven. This one dates from the 11th or 12th century. It features a rectangular nave with a wooden roof, a semi-circular apse and a Lombard-style bell tower. You can see a few photos of the interior and find out when it is open from the Andorran Museum website. I'd heard of this Tibetan Bridge but hadn't gotten around to checking it out. So I was delighted when I saw that it was just out of Canillo. The path leading to the bridge started across from the Church of Saint Joan. How convenient! I checked it on MapsMe. The weather was great but after my coffee, the lady at the tourist office informed me that it's only open on the weekend. I'd have to come back. If you look closely at the photo below, taken from near the waterfall, you can see the bridge. Cascada de Los Moles. This 35 metre high waterfall is worth the m walk from the Church of Sant Joan de Caselles:. The original Canillo flour mill dates back to the beginning of the 8th century. Over the years it has been rebuilt several times. Excavations also unearthed a series of burials dating back to the 7th and 8th centuries. The Cross of the 7 Arms. There is a great legend surrounding this cross on the Visit Andorra website. Sant Miquel de Prats. This is a typical rural Romanesque-style church with a pointed arch of the Gothic period 12th to 16th century. Historic Ensemble of Meritxell. The newer basilica was born out of the fire that destroyed the older chapel see below on the night of September 8, Ricardo Bofill was one of the architects involved in the original project but it never materialised and he went on to design it alone and even then his original ideas never came to fruition. It was inaugurated, unfinished, in The original chapel dedicated to Saint Mary dates from the 12th century but the baroque-style one as you see today was built in the s though it was destroyed by fire in and restored in In ninth spot comes an activity, not a sight or place of interest. Walking back to the road, a glass of Ricard, in a small bar opposite the Ermita Hotel, had my name on it. How could I resist? Pastis has always been up there on my list of favourite tipples. This could make a great blog post no? Pastis, Mezcal, Lagavulin. So having finished enjoying, I walked back to the main road and I would like to have said, I took the bus back to Escaldes-Engordany but there is no bus stop and to avoid going back to Canillo, I just started walking and eventually I made it back to Escaldes-Engordany. It only added 9km to my day.
