When someone first use a drug, they may feel what seem to be positive or beneficial effects. They also may believe they can control their drug use. They can have a hard time controlling their need to take drugs even though they know the risks, and it starts to cause many problems and stress for themselves and their loved ones, and may start to affect their health, ability to work, relationship or finances. Some people may start to feel the need to take more of a drug, or take it more frequently, even in the early stages of their drug use — these are the signs of an addiction. The initial decision to take drugs is typically voluntary. The first stage of drug addiction is experimentation. It is where an individual chooses to use mood-altering drugs. Most people can do this and never use again. However, for some people, this can be habit forming. Problem use begins when the person starts to be negatively affected by their use of a particular substance. At this point, the user may be bingeing on drugs every weekend but is not yet physically dependent on them. Continuing to use mood-altering substances for social reasons may not cause immediate harm but it can lead to an increased tolerance and a physical dependence. Continued abuse of mood-altering drugs can lead to addiction for many people. Addiction is classed as a pattern of behavior that results in negative consequences for the affected individual. When the person is unable to stop taking drugs, they said to be addicted. Addiction can be either physical or psychological in nature. I know the try to improve, need to be given some time after Covid. I was mainly there because of depression and trauma issues and it really helped me. Get it confirmed in writing from the facility. As the brother of a patient at The Hills Rehab, I wanted to share my overall positive experience while highlighting a few areas where there is room for improvement. My sibling's recovery journey at this facility was undoubtedly remarkable, but there were some organizational and minor disturbances that caught my attention. Let me start by emphasizing the outstanding care and attention that my sibling received during their time at The Hills Rehab. The therapists exhibited both expertise and genuine compassion, tailoring treatment plans to his individual needs. It was heartwarming to witness the progress my sibling made under their guidance. The facility itself is serene and well-maintained, creating a soothing environment conducive to healing. The picturesque surroundings, coupled with the modern amenities, contributed to a truly holistic rehabilitation experience. A minor concern was that my brother could use the phone freely, which sometimes led to disturbances, at least to my family. While I understand the importance of maintaining a sense of normalcy and connection, it would be beneficial to limit the use of these tools. In conclusion, The Hills Rehab undoubtedly offers a transformative and enriching rehabilitation experience. The dedication of the staff, picturesque setting, and the progress made by patients are testament to the facility's commitment to healing. Our son was treated at the Hills as part of their youth program below He had developed a substance use disorder and mental health issues. We had tried psychiatric treatment and outpatient counselling on a weekly basis for about one year but it didn't really improve his condition, so in-patient treatment was highly recommended. From the moment he agreed to go, things moved swiftly. We booked the flights and the center was extremely helpful in assisting with all the necessary preparations. We dropped him off and the process was very well-managed. The facilities are fantastic, but what matters most, of course, are the people who manage the center and interact with the patients. During his treatment, our son was able to benefit from the whole array of treatments. After the first 4 weeks, he was very keen to extend for another month since he realized the benefits he was experiencing. We were so pleasantly surprised since he had told us before that 'rehab will be a waste of money' for him and 'that it won't change him'. When we picked him up after 2 months he has truly changed thanks to the fantastic work that the center did with him. From being more of a couch potato, he has now turned into a very sports-oriented person. He has adopted healthy habits and stayed away from substances. His depression has improved dramatically. He continues online weekly counselling with his great therapist Matt from The Hills. We are truly grateful. This is the most we could have hoped. Hello I hope this review finds you well. Ahmed was my counsellor, Yuri, Ahmed, and Matthew hosted many groups that helped guide me in my new recovery. The food is great. The staff is amazing. This place is like all others. These guys have rules. Do the Hills program and follow direction. Show More Reviews. Leave a Review. Frequently Asked Questions. How long is treatment? Not Sure Where to Go?
