A man has admitted supplying a 'rogue batch' of ecstasy tablets on the Isle of Wight which led to four men being treated in hospital. It is believed three of the four men affected bought the tablets inside Yates's bar in Newport on Friday. He is due to be sentenced at the island's crown court on 25 July. An NHS spokesman said it would be several weeks until it is known if the four have made a full recovery. The tablets, which police said 'could be life-threatening', have made people appear drunk, become very aggressive, frightened and lose consciousness. A spokesman for Isle of Wight NHS Trust said staff at St Mary's Hospital had to open an additional area to treat and monitor the four, resulting in the cancellation of scheduled surgery for several other patients on Saturday morning. People who have recently bought what they believe are ecstasy tablets on the island, are being encouraged to hand them in for analysis with assurances from the police that anyone who does so will not be prosecuted for possession of illegal drugs. A year-old boy from East Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A. He remains in police custody.
