Never skied this area before, can I ask what airport you all fly into and what sort of transfer times to resorts? We can either fly into Innsbruck or Verona to get to our hotel. We're planning to do a day and a night in either. Which would people recommend? Thunderpunt you have to fly to either Verona or Innsbruck. It's then a 3 hour drive from either. We flew to a Innsbruck and our drive was much shorter - more like 2 hours. The surrounding valleys were not busy but that main circuit is so popular I think everyone just feels they have to do it. There are masses of other lovely areas to explore. And Bombardinos! Oh and we've never actually done the Sella Ronda tour as you spend too much time on lifts! WellWoman we've decided to go to Verona as we'll get there at 8, can spend the whole day and then make our way to the Dolomites the next morning. Adding a day in Verona will be fun. Go in the summer too, for the opera in the Roman amphitheatre, it's amazing. Most of the key resort towns have big valleys of skiing behind them, away from the SR circuit. It's also easy to jump across to the next valley from where you are. We stayed in Santa Cristina this year and skied lots of very empty areas around our village as well as around and west of Ortisei, did the Sella Ronda and spent one day over around Corvara, further east of our base. Decided we'd like to be based in Corvara another time. We're enthusiastic but not the fastest or best skiers so I reckon most people can cover a lot of ground there. We loved how much there was to choose from. Also fabulous food and drink and much cheaper than France ski pass is expensive but you do get a lot for it, and most of the lifts are very fast and impressive. WellWoman thanks!
