I have seen 2 wolverines in all my years in the bush. One was telling a bear to go away so he could eat the bears fresh deer kill. The wise bear left. Only 1/10 th the weight of a bear it is the baddest, nastiest animal in the forest. The bear knew it wouldn’t be worth the damage he would sustain in a fight.
The 2nd tore the door off a friends snowmobile cabin. He ransacked the place then peed on everything. And that was nasty.
Then a cougar aka mountain lion. The silent ambush predator. You sometimes get a feeling that something is watching. And it is.
I had one steal a deer from me that I was tracking. It was around a corner about 100 yards ahead in deep snow.

Being helpless in the woods. Any woods is a bad concept. Always be prepared.
The critters want an easy meal just like we do. But they eat what they can get, when they can get it.
