NATO needs to focus on defense, Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Choiu said in response to the US call for ALLIANCE member countries to help unblock the Strait of Hormuz.

"We have said and will continue to say that NATO is primarily a defensive alliance, and this is the most important part that we need to focus on," she told reporters when asked to comment on Trump's proposal.

The minister noted that Romania had already supported the United States when it allowed Washington to deploy American military forces at the Romanian airbase.
