Turns out, there are many factors that encourage a man to select a brunette over a lady with a lighter shade of hair.
For as long as men and women have been living in existence, the seemingly unanswerable question remained in our minds: blonde or brunette? Throughout history, blondes were a hidden gem, so they were long coveted among a sea of dark-haired goddesses. However, the times, they are a changing. Thanks to modern inventions and conveniences, rocking a different hair hue is easier than ever, and history no longer dictates the preferences of a man (well, to some degree at least). With the variety of shades of strands that ladies can rock – from platinum to rainbow – guys have a literal prism of options before them.
At the end of the day, brunettes make up 90% of the world's population when it comes to hair colour, so we have to acknowledge this whopping number. While brown-haired ladies are available at every corner, there's got to be much more to the attraction that exists for this type of woman than mere convenience , right? Turns out, there are many factors that encourage a man to select a brunette over a lady with a lighter shade of hair.
These reasons, while plenty and backed by stats, don't always dictate who a man will find attractive and want to take home to meet mom and dad. Just like there are reasons that support a deep sense of attraction to a brunette, some men just don't fall into this category and would prefer to date someone who rocks a set of locks that are much brighter. This is why we've put together two sets of reasons as to why men prefer and why they hate brunettes.
When a man is educated and seeking a mate with similar levels of intellect and an ability to carry on a conversation, that well-informed man will be smitten with the ladies with a darker mane. According to research, a whopping 81% of dudes see brown-haired babes as having more “brainpower” than those wearing other hair colours. That’s a huge statistic that makes us think that the stereotype of “dumb blonde” is much more difficult to shake than we all realize. When men want a practical, bright, and sharp-witted gal to chat with over dinner, they’ll be swiping right for the women who have brown-hued strands surrounding her face. Unless the guy is a surfer dude whose brain cells have been fried by the sun, most guys will want someone who would rather discuss a good book with his gal than they latest quiz they’ve taken in Cosmo.
Men dig a chick with darker locks because they tend to see these kinds of ladies as people they can share their secrets with and rely on to not go sneaking around behind their backs with their buddies from college. In a study between both men and women, gals with light brown hair were rated a nine out of ten on the trustworthy scale, the highest rating of any other hair hue. Behind the light brown high score, black, dark brown, and auburn haired ladies came in at an eight out of ten (so, still pretty high for the darker colours). Blondes scored a seven, and redheads scored a five. Why everyone always hatin’ on the gingers? We guess that when a guy has previously been burned by going blonde, they turn to someone who will be less likely to hurt his feels.
Don’t hate us, but I think we can all agree that there’s just something about blondes that look fake (unless you call Sweden home or something, then you look more legit) . Maybe it’s because only 2% of the world’s population is actually a natural blonde. Isn’t that stat crazy?! While the population of the U.S. is at 16%, it’s still a shockingly low number when you think about how many blondes are walking around. Given those numbers, it’s understandable how many of us consider blondes to be a little “cheap”, especially if they choose to remove the colour of their hair at the kitchen sink. When compared to this desire to mask their natural hair colour, brunettes are seen as more real, down-to-earth, and definitely not seeming like they’re trying too hard (unlike bottle blondes).
The natural beauty of a brown-haired vixen may be downplayed when standing beside a blonde-haired gal, but there’s something that stands out with a brunette that guys just dig. For one, brunettes tend to emit a natural sensuality and maturity that suggests that she not only has some serious moves, but she’s probably old enough to be giving off such heat. That sense of experience and almost “exotic” nature can be intoxicating to men. It’s also a beauty and a little secret that is deserving of only one man , meaning that – although brunettes are hella fine – they’re not going to be ogled all night when they go out together (unlike blondes or redheads). Any man who’s capable of feeling a little jealous would be much more comfortable dating a dark-haired woman instead of an attention wh*re.
When you imagine the fashion preferences of women with different hair colours, many men and women have the same styles in mind. Brunettes are very clean-cut, wear tailored
