Boston Bruins at Pittsburgh Penguins odds, picks and prediction
The Boston Bruins (27-14-6) play the second contest of a two-game set against the Pittsburgh Penguins (32-14-3) Tuesday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at PPG Paints Arena. Below, we analyze the Bruins-Penguins odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.
The Bruins were on the short end of a 1-0 loss in the Steel City in the first half of the two-game set. It was the first time the B’s were blanked since March 28, also by a 1-0 score, against the New Jersey Devils. Boston had scored 27 goals across its previous seven games before the shutout loss.
The Pens have rattled off four straight victories and outscored the opposition 17-9 during the span. Pittsburgh enters this game 11-2 in its last 13 games as a home underdog and 4-1 in its past five against winning teams.

Tuukka Rask (11-4-2, 2.36 GAA, .913 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Tristan Jarry (21-8-3, 2.70 GAA, .911 SV%, 1 SO)
Rask took a no-decision against the lowly Buffalo Sabres Friday, as he allowed 4 goals on 28 shots. He is still 3-0-0 with a 2.17 GAA and .931 SV% through four starts in April.
Jarry made 30 saves Sunday for his first shutout of the season. He has rattled off four consecutive victories, and he hasn’t lost in regulation since March 18. Jarry is 2-1-1 with a 1.96 GAA and .938 SV% in four games against Boston.
Bet $1 on either team’s money line, WIN $100 (in free bets) if either team scores a goal in the game. Betting offer available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA and WV. Place your legal, online bets at BetMGM. New customer offer, terms and conditions apply. Bet now!
The PENGUINS (+100) are a great play as even-money underdogs at home. Jarry is playing with a lot of confidence right now, and Pittsburgh won eight of its past nine home games against Boston.
The Pens are a great value at home.

The Penguins +1.5 (-275) will cost you nearly three times your potential return, and that’s just not a good play. If you like the Pens, just play them straight up as home underdogs.
UNDER 5.5 (-110) is the best play on the board in this game. The teams just played to a 1-0 score, and Rask and Jarry won’t cough up a ton of goals.
The Under hit in six of the past seven, and four of the previous five meetings at PPG Paints Arena. Keep slamming the Under in B’s-Pens games until further notice.

New York Islanders at Boston Bruins Game 5 odds, picks and prediction
The New York Islanders and Boston Bruins play Game 5 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs second-round series Monday. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at TD Garden. Below, we analyze the Islanders-Bruins odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.
The Islanders pounded out a 4-1 victory in Game 4 as home underdogs in this seesaw best-of-7 series. In the first two games in Boston, the Isles lost the opener 5-2 but responded with an overtime win in Game 2. They came home and fell 2-1 in OT in Game 3 before leveling the series Saturday.
The Bruins fell in their most recent home game, losing 4-3 in overtime in Game 2. They’re 3-1 in the postseason at TD Garden this season. Both games in Boston in this series cashed Over tickets.

Semyon Varlamov (19-11-4, 2.04 GAA, .929 SV%, 7 SO) vs. Tuukka Rask (15-5-2, 2.28 GAA, .913 SV%, 2 SO). Stats from regular season.
Varlamov had his most impressive showing of the postseason in Game 4, allowing just one goal on 29 shots in the win. He has won two of his three starts in this series, with his only setback being the Game 3 home loss in overtime.
The score of Saturday’s Game 4 loss looked a little worse than it actually was. Rask allowed two goals on 32 shots, while the Islanders tacked on two empty-net goals to bail out puck-line bettors and anger Under bettors.
Bet now!
The Bruins (-190) are just a little over my personal money line limit of -180. In a pivotal Game 5, I’m not comfortable backing a team at this price, even if the home side is 9-3 across the past 12 meetings. We’ve seen the road team win twice in four games in this series.

The BRUINS -1.5 (+145) are a much better option, laying the goal and a half. There is just so much more value here than betting the B’s straight up. The Islanders are just 2-5 in the past seven meetings with the Bruins, although, of course, two of those wins are in this series. New York is also just 1-4 in its past five trips to Beantown.
OVER 5 (-130) is the lean, although I wouldn’t get too terribly crazy. While the Over is 3-1-2 in the past six meetings in Boston, including both Games 1 and 2, the Under is 24-9-2 in New York’s previous 35 road games.
