The group's lineup consists of Michael "Mikl" Shea and Julian "Phat J" McLellan, and musically are one of the founding groups in the crunkcore genre, which (in general description) is crunk hip hop music with screamed vocals.
I'd also say that a lot of that first Brokencyde album is a lot of fun and is mixed shockingly well. I know that a big slice of this sub are music dorks that bemoan the death of late 90s power pop or whatever but I feel like if you can conceptualize why people loved Limp Bizkit or the Sex Pistols you can also get why people liked Brokencyde.
