BRITNEY Spears highly anticipated collaboration with Elton John has allegedly leaked online.
Fans are furious the new track, titled Hold Me Closer, has made the social media rounds before the Princess of Pop was officially able to release it herself.
The song is Britney's first new music in six years.
It's said to be a mashup of Tiny Dancer, one of Sir Elton's most memorable tunes, mixed with samples from his other songs, including his 1992 track The One.
Britney, 40, reportedly tweaked the lyrics and offered to sing a new verse for the remix, which is due to drop any day now.
But some fans online say they got it early, and leaked what they claim is a preview of the single.
In the clip which was posted to Twitter , a voice that is allegedly Britney's, can be heard in her signature high-pitched tone singing "hold me closer Tiny Dancer," amongst other lyrics.
While the brief snippet has neither been confirmed nor denied, fans who have been waiting for the whole thing to be released in a proper format are slamming the sneak.
"This is not ok. She's working so hard," one Britney fan wrote, mentioning the care the singer has taken with her big comeback track.
"Stop leaking it," another begged, as a third called out: "Delete it."
One fan even wondered if the leak was even the final version of the song.
"Why leak it if she's not happy with it?"
Still, some anxious fans were all about sampling her return.
"Can’t wait" one person exclaimed, as another tagged on: "OMG I want it."
A third, who apparently listened to the purported preview, praised it.
"She sounds so good," the fan tweeted.
The collaboration is a follow to Elton’s team-up with Dua Lipa last summer.
Their hit single Cold Heart reached the top of several Billboard charts.
Britney is hoping for a similar reception, as she begins the process of performing again.
The former Mouseketeer has been at war with her ex husband, Kevin Federline , and even her own teenage sons, who refuse to see her.
She's also still putting her life back in order since successfully fighting her way out of her father's conservatorship .
A source told The Sun Elton has helped countless artists throughout the years, both publicly and privately, and has been well aware of Britney’s battles.
“They have known each other for years, with Elton personally inviting Brit to a number of his famous Oscar parties ," the insider revealed.
"He genuinely wants the best for her and to hear them on a track together is amazing."
Speaking about her love of Elton, Britney previously said: “I am the biggest fan in the world of him.
"Me and my mom, we love him to death.”

Britney Spears’ attorney, Mathew Rosengart, is coming to his pop star client’s defense after her ex-husband Kevin Federline attempted to disparage her character by leaking videos of her allegedly arguing with her teenage sons.
“Britney Spears is a brilliantly-talented, extremely-hardworking icon, who is rightfully beloved and respected by millions around the world,” the former federal prosecutor exclusively tells Page Six on Thursday.
“The same, unfortunately, cannot be said about Mr. Federline, who for reasons that are inexplicable, decided to give a gratuitous interview that has hurt the mother of his children.”
Rosengart adds that the “Oops! I Did It Again” singer, 40, has “faithfully supported” sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, and “loves them dearly.”
“Whether he realizes it or not, Mr. Federline has not only violated the privacy and dignity of the mother of his children, he has undermined his own children, whose privacy he should protect,” the high-powered attorney, who helped free Spears from her 13-year conservatorship, also says.
“Putting aside his ITV interview, Mr. Federline’s abhorrent, ill-advised decision to post an old video of his 11 and 12 year old children was cruel, bottom of the barrel stuff.”
Rosengart also claims in his statement to Page Six that Federline, 44, may have broken the law by posting videos in which Spears did not know she was being recorded since California is a two-party consent state .
“In addition to demeaning himself and violating societal norms, he has now also created various legal issues for himself including, but not limited to, implicating cyber-harassment and cyber-bullying statutes, among other things,” the LA-based lawyer says.
He tells Page Six it has been his “honor” to work with Spears to “suspend her father as conservator, to help her gain her freedom and dignity, and to help protect her from the type of bullying she endured in the past—and we will not tolerate bullying in any area.”
Rosengart also shares that he is working with Instagram to “ensure” that Federline “adheres to its rules and we are exploring all appropriate relief against him.”
“In the meantime, as Britney herself poignantly said, whatever is occurring between her and her boys should remain private,” he concludes. “We urge Mr. Federline to act with a measure of grace and decency and to cease from publicly discussing private matters, which benefits no one.”
Federline’s attorney did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Rosengart’s statement, but it appears the DJ does have some regrets about posting the leaked videos. Earlier on Thursday, Federline deleted the three clips from his Instagram.
Just hours before, the former backup dancer, who was married to Spears from 2004 until 2007, shared the videos on his platform with the caption, “I can not sit back and let my sons be accused in this way after what they’ve been through. As much as it hurts us, we decided as a family to post these videos.”
“This isn’t even the worst of it. The lies have to stop. I hope our kids grow up to be better than this.”
A source from Spears’ camp exclusively told Page Six in response to the posts at the time, “Kevin is disgusting. He is weaponizing the kids by releasing the videos. But in these clips, Britney is just being a mom.”
The internet widely agreed with people on social media commenting how Spears appeared to only be trying to discipline her children.
One person wrote , “The fact that Britney Spears has to remind her own kids that she is a WOMAN and she deserves RESPECT tells us all we need to know about Kevin Federline’s parental influence. That man is pure evil and he’s raised those kids in his image. Truly tragic. #JusticeForBritney”
Another tweeted , “Dear Kevin Federline. You released a ‘scathing’ video of a mom being a mom. Sometimes moms -gasp – have reactions. They might discipline by taking things away or ask for respect. This is shocking but sometimes moms will argue with their kids. #BritneySpears.”
Spears herself gave insight earlier this week into how difficult it has been for her to co-parent with Federline after he shared in a preview for an ITV interview that Sean Preston and Jayden James have chosen “not to see” their mom for “a few months.”
The “Toxic” singer called the claims “hurtful” on Instagram, saying it “concerns” her. She added later that her sons would act “hateful” towards her when visiting.

Britney Spears and Sir Elton John have been working on a new song together that was set to release soon, but apparently has been leaked early.
The upcoming track is titled Hold Me Closer and is a refashioning of Elton’s 1971 smash hit song Tiny Dancer.
A short snippet of the song was shared on social media on Thursday night, a move that Britney’s fans are calling out as ‘disrespectful’.
The song marks her first new material in six years, and fans were eager to get their hands on it, but not like this.
The snippet, which is said to only be three seconds in length, caused anger on social media, with one fan writing: ‘Ruining the release of Britney’s first single as a free woman in 15 years is honestly disrespectful.’
‘I can’t believe even Britney’s fans are spreading leaks.’
Another agreed: ‘I’m so tempted to go find Hold Me Closer leak but I want to respect both Britney & Elton, I’ve been waiting for this moment for almost six years.’
Rumours had been circulating among Britney’s fanbase that the release of Hold Me Closer had been delayed, with last-minute changes reportedly requested by Britney herself.
Rolling Stone then confirmed that the song, which was expected to be released on August 19, will now be released later in the year.
‘As leaks of Britney Spears and Elton John’s song “Hold Me Closer” get circulated on Twitter, a source confirms to me that the duet won’t be released tonight,’ one of its writers shared on Twitter.
The short clip has already been swiftly removed from all social media websites by the copyright owner.
Earlier this week, Britney shared her excitement for the new track, writing on Instagram: ‘I appreciate this and all of your support it means so much to me!!!
‘I can’t wait for you all to hear what we’ve been working on.’
She also shared a fanmade version of the single’s artwork featuring Britney and Sir Elton in baseball uniforms, and tagged the fan in her post , writing: ‘thank you so much for this incredible art.’
Other artwork for the single was released on Monday, and features a simple rose and a rocketship, representing Britney and Sir Elton respectively.

Britney last released new music in 2020, when Swimming in the Stars and Mood Ring finally got official releases as bonus tracks on the deluxe edition of her 2016 album Glory.
Hold Me Closer will mark Britney’s first release since her landmark conservatorship case.
Her father, Jamie, was recently ordered to produce documentation regarding alleged electronic surveillance that Britney was said to be under during her conservatorship.
