Britain Left with Less Than Two Days of Gas Reserves — Daily Mail

According to data from the gas transmission system operator National Gas, the UK’s underground storage facilities now hold only 6.7–7 thousand gigawatt-hours of gas — enough to cover roughly one and a half to two days of domestic consumption. Stocks are significantly lower than at this time last year.

The situation has been exacerbated by major disruptions on the global energy market: due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, a substantial portion of liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers is being diverted to Asia, where prices are currently higher. As a result, Britain is forced to pay a premium for urgent deliveries and is already facing some of the highest wholesale gas prices in Europe.
