Briefly about pilots training at the KhNUPS
INDIAHow cadet pilots are trained at the KhNUPS (Kharkiv National University of the Air Forces), and their subsequent division into units
There is nothing complicated here. After admission, cadets undergo a general education course. I think the disciplines are the same here, as in all universities.
With general disciplines, cadets undergo combined military course of a young soldier. They study weapons, tactics, run with assault rifles and throw grenades. That is, the first step is the general knowledge development.
Flight specialties cadets then proceed to study their first aircraft type, for example, a light aircraft.
They learn its construction, aerodynamics, piloting technique and many different disciplines directly related to the relevant type of aircraft.

After passing exams and admission, young pilots begin flight practice. After it, instructors write recommendations for further assignment to different types of aircraft. For example, if cadet shows fighter qualities, he goes to study jet aircraft(L-39).
I will answer here and now, the following qualities are: reaction speed, endurance, good piloting skills. That is, cadet has no problems with piloting, sending radio messages and also endurance to overloads and endurance.
My instructor, for example, during aerobatic figures perfomings forced me to count the carriages of the train that was moving on the ground, all this should be done at the same time performing a figure.
For L-39 piloting there is already a more serious pilot selection, since the jet is much faster, has a wide variety of tasks and required effort.
Many people can't stand it after starting performing difficult aerobatics. That means that cadet lacks attention in controlling the flight parameters, makes a lot of mistakes while performing figures, or in the process doesn't cope with a bunch of tasks such as "doing a loop, sending radio messages, holding a zone, etc."
After passing the practice on the jet plane, the distribution will continue as I said earlier. Instructors write recommendations for which type of aircraft the cadet's skills are more suitable for. Yes, during the practice they will ask what you would like to be (fighter, attacker).
Next comes practice on a combat plane but there is a nuance. There is so much money have already been spent that it is easier to teach cadets than drop them out

Distribution to brigades is usually done according to requests of these brigades. For example, in 2025, Vasylkiv sends a request to KhNUPS, in which requires 3 pilots, Mykolaiv requires 5 pilots. However, you can decide in your group who would like to go where, but there will always be a % of people who will just be sent to different bases.
There is no need to be disappointed here, because flying life has no bounds. Today you serve in the 40th brigade, and tomorrow there is a position for your promotion in the 831st.
So remember those who want to be a pilot: you will have constant moves, constant shifts somewhere but not at home.
Don't think that you will join the brigade wherever you want and will sit here until the contract ends.
It doesn't happen like that.
Flying life has its own romance, and you will understand it
