Hairs are the most important beauty factor for women. Ladies often opt to add more beauty to their looks by adding weaves and extensions to their hair. Brazilian weaves are beautiful and natural looking. Here is the brief about hair description, identification and maintenance of these hairs.
Grade and Texture: Brazilian hairs have coarse texture and are not so smooth to touch. These are obtained by donors of native South American women. Healthy young women are selected as donors for the hairs.
Virgin hairs: Virgin Brazilian hairs are the untreated hairs which are collected from the head of the donors. These hairs can be colored, bleached or styled as per the requirement.
Remy Hairs: When all the hairs are obtained from a single donor and the hairs are cut and gathered by a unique technique to have all the cuticles in one direction, such hairs are called as remy hairs. These hairs as they are from a single donor may contain white or grey hairs. The color of this hair bundle may not be uniform throughout, it is indication that the hairs are original.
The Brazilian Hair extensions can be various styles, length of hairs and add the number of bundles depending upon the volume to be added. Brazilian hair extension styles include body wave, straight, deep wave, loose wave, deep curly, kinky curly, natural wave and kinky straight etc.
These hair extensions can be installation by various methods such as
• Hot and cold glue: the hair extensions are stick with the help of keratin glue
• Sewn-ins- the extensions are sewed with the natural hairs. The hairs are braided first and then the extensions are sewed
• Clip-in: In this type of extensions, the extensions are clipped in the hair, make sure you use small clips so that it doesn’t get visible
• Brazilian knots: the knots are made in the hairs to add the extensions, but the hairs should have sufficient strength to withstand the stress developed by addition of a hair extension.
• Top-ins: In this method, the thinning of hairs can be hidden by adding the top-ins
There are a number of companies who claim to provide the original Brazilian Hair extensions, often the original hair extensions are mixed with synthetic hairs or the animal hairs. The synthetic hairs can be differentiated from the original Brazilian hairs by performing one of the following test
• Color: the color of original hairs will be lighter and the hair bundle maybe shaded. As the remy hairs are from one individual certain hairs may turn grey and the overal look may be shaded.
• Texture: the original Brazilian hairs are coarse in nature and also they are not straight, instead the original Brazilian hairs are little wavy in nature
• Flame test: this test is very useful in differentiating the synthetic hairs. The synthetic hairs give high flames when exposed to flames of candle or lighter, whereas the original hairs produces only little smoke
• Wet test: In this test the hairs are wetted. The synthetic hairs will be heavier than the original Brazilian hairs and also synthetic hairs may loose its style wave or curve. The original hairs may lose style because of the dirt and dust which wil be regained after washing
• These hairs need special care and maintenance to retain the natural shine and lustrous. As the hairs are cut from the source there is supply of nutrients to hairs, so with time the hairs may loose the shine and may become dry.
• It is advised to moisturize your hairs as frequently as possible to avoid drying of hair. One can apply oil, but don’t make it too oily also.
• It is also advised to use mild shampoo and conditioners to retain the moisture and natural texture of the hair.
• Do not blow dry the hair. It is advised you to allow the hairs to dry naturally, as they are sensitive to heat.
• Use a satin or silk cap before sleeping
• The hairs should be placed above the head to retain the styling
• Be careful while combing the hairs
