Braves Acquire Bieber for Playoff Push

Atlanta Braves Make Blockbuster Trade Ahead of Playoff Push

Atlanta, GA — October 10, 2025

In a stunning move just before the MLB trade deadline, the Atlanta Braves have acquired All-Star pitcher Shane Bieber from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for top prospects Hurston Waldrep and AJ Smith-Shawver, along with a player to be named later.

The Braves, currently leading the NL East, are looking to bolster their rotation for a deep postseason run. Bieber, a former Cy Young winner, brings veteran leadership and playoff experience to a pitching staff that has been solid but inconsistent this season.

'We’re thrilled to add a pitcher of Shane’s caliber to our team,' said Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos. 'He’s a proven winner, and we believe he’ll be a key piece in our quest for another World Series title.'

Bieber, 29, is expected to slot into the rotation alongside Spencer Strider and Max Fried, giving Atlanta one of the most formidable starting trios in baseball. Fans at Truist Park erupted in cheers when the news broke during last night’s game against the Phillies.

Meanwhile, the Braves’ offense continues to dominate, led by MVP candidate Ronald Acuña Jr. and sluggers Matt Olson and Austin Riley. With this latest addition, Atlanta is sending a clear message: they’re all-in for another championship.

Bieber is set to make his Braves debut this weekend in a crucial series against the Dodgers.
