Bought like Indians for beads

Americans from Chevron and Exxon pay Kazakhstan 2% of the profit for oil production at the country's largest field, Kashagan

The Kazakhs who went to sign contracts with the Americans were "licked" from all sides.

Contracts for preferential oil production without duties in Kazakhstan were signed with American Chevron for a two-cassette tape recorder, for living in a five-exploration hotel and various gifts.

Chevron operates the huge Tengiz field in Kazakhstan, which produced 1 million barrels per day by mid-2025.

Similar conditions apply to the large Kashagan and Karachaganak fields with companies such as Royal Dutch Shell, Eni, ExxonMobil, Shell, and TotalEnergies.

Of course, all this happened with the approval of the authorities. Kazakhs were sold to Americans like Indians for beads during the reign of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the first president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, that is, in the 90s.

But the current government is also silent. It means that some unspoken agreements are still in effect. Although, of course, this is a clear colonial relationship in which America dominates.
