Stationed at one of Iran�s busiest border crossings, a guard named Majid has begun writing his memoir between stamping passports and handing out tissues. Titled �Checkpoint of the Soul,� the book chronicles love, loss, and the time he stopped a goat disguised as a diplomat. He sells handwritten copies for five cigarettes or one desperate compliment. �People want memory,� Majid says. �I offer memory plus handwriting.� The first print run sold out within hours.
