Okay, so this isn't my first purchase on a kickback type product. I loved the first thing I bought but unfortunately forgot it at the gym one day, went back 20 minutes later and somebody had snatched it. So, I figured I could save some money by buying this thing. I know, I know, "made in china" and all that, but honestly my iPhone is made in China so I know there are some high end factories or whatever. Unfortunately, not the case here. This one popped the buckle the first time I used it and the cable literally flew up and hit me in the face. First time in awhile I've heard laughter at the gym. The buckle is sewed on by what looks like tiny hands with a single stitch, it just totally came apart. On top of that, it really was a poor fit in the first place. The strap underneath got caught up on the arch of my shoe, which meant the whole thing would never be very snug. I've attached a picture showing that. Even if I had a flat shoe, my foot has an arch in it, so any significant weight would just cause it to bend in there anyway. Luckily, I didn't really have that problem because they use stronger velcro than stitches. Oh well, serves me right to try and save a buck on something I use every legs day.
I received these about a week ago. I have only had the chance to use them twice given the holidays and my gyms schedule. My husband and I are gym rats and we have been for 9 years now. I am constantly looking for and researching new workouts to do/try. I am also regularly creating new workouts because I’ve done, or at least tried basically everything there is. Using the cable machines are among my favorite equipment. They have many, MANY uses and can work every single muscle in the body in multiple ways. I have worn out 2 previous sets of ankle/shoe straps (both different brands). I am always thinking that it would be nice to have options of where I can connect the carabiner to my instead of just one or two stationary hooks. It would help to target some muscles better pulling from, say, the ankle vs top of the foot. I ran across an add for a similar set of these on Instagram but were 3x the price. I found these and decided to give them a try. So, here is my opinion of them thus far..... 1. They don’t sit super snug on the shoe, specifically around the back or the heel. It feels like it’s going to slide off if pulled the wrong way. They do, however, fit around the top of the foot nicely. 2. I am disappointed there is no hook on the bottom against the soul of the shoe like other brands do. It would be a great asset. The hooks are quite small and thin and seem fragile. I can see them snapping with little effort. Doubling up hooks at each location or making them thicker would be a plus. 3. The straps around the hooks are sewn in nicely, however, it is extremely thin for an area that take constant and sometimes heavy resistance. I can see the material ripping right off as you’re in the middle of an excersice. It seems to me that it needs doubling up around the hooks, or even some sort of reinforcement material. You can’t do anything with an real weight attached. My heaviest weight during my use was only 10lbs and it was putting quite a bit of force on the hook and pulling the material outward. I was afraid it was going to rip right then. You definitely can not do any significant amount of weight (20+lbs). My other 2 pairs can hold up to 60+ lbs without any issues. 4. The pamphlet in the description shows them accompanied by a small black carrying bag. That’s not the case. They are somewhat awkwardly shaped and need a bag to carry them in. I found that disappointing. I gave these a 3 because they are a great asset to any workout given you are only doing light weight and minimal use. Maybe a beginner or someone who doesn’t add weight, just the cable. It’s a great idea but it just needs some revisements and reinforcement. Given those things, they’d be a solid work out accessory.
I just received these. I followed directions on size ordering, and based on my shoe size I ordered the mediums. The left one is too large and guess what the right one is twice as large as the left one. I haven't tried them out yet, little concerned about the stability.
While the price point lured me to try this product over others on Amazon, I was extremely disappointed in the quality. The velcro on the strap does not stay secure and tight during workout requiring you to check it constantly. The sewing of the straps looked as if they were done by a grade school kid learning to use a sewing machine for the first time. This left me large concern that the stitching was not secure or safe for the long term. The fit of the straps are not angled properly for a shoe, so when you attach the cable, the straps under the foot pull and create excess gaps. Not designed very well. In summary, you get what you pay for and anyone that is going to invest in their fitness should spend a little more for a intuitive and well designed accessory. What an every day consumer might think looks good for the price - please take my advice....you do not have to be a fitness expert to get the most out of your workout. The companies that spend more on design, top quality material and take pride in manufacturing deserve the price they charge. I will be returning this product and found what looks to be a far superior product by IPR Fitness. It will be worth a few extra dollars. It is hard to put a price on your fitness goals and success.
I was shipped 2 right feet.How does a company not check this before shopping?Nothing about this did I like.The books are too small and cheaply made.At least ankle straps have larger hooks and other foot straps.The Velcro has to be tightened constantly.Its just cheaply made.They need to use bigger stringer metal and better quality Velcro.
I bought these for my wife because they seemed to be a good price but at the beginning of her first workout the d ring broke off completely
I love these!!! Regular ankle straps are hard on me due to prior injury. These take the pressure of my ankle and allow me to do certain leg cable motions without and stress on my ankle. I also feel I can control the cable much better with these and can keep proper form much easier. These are defiantly a great buy. Just an FYI... When putting on the foot strap, make sure to pull up on the back, before completely strapping them down. This will help the strap sit correctly around the heel of your shoe. Then readjust the Velcro strap to fit perfectly around your top of the shoe. This will ensure that there is no slipping. If you do not pull the back/heel area up and readjust the Velcro to secure in place, the strap feels like it’s pulling your shoe off.
