Core Five Nights at Freddy's Series
Article Classification: Five Nights at Freddy's
Description: This article details a topic that is deemed canon to the primary FNaF series' universe.

“ Bonnie's my name, I'm hoppin' along, floppy ears and a cotton tail! My guitar is blazin', this rabbit's "Hare"-raisin'! Just listen to me wail! ”
— Bonnie, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Theme Song *

Bonnie is a major antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's series . Bonnie is an animatronic rabbit and children's entertainer housed at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza , alongside Freddy Fazbear and Chica . He is the guitarist in Freddy's band, positioned at the left side of the stage. Secretly, Bonnie and the other animatronics are haunted by children murdered by a man named William Afton . He and the others are now seeking revenge against their killer by attacking any adults in the pizzeria after-hours in blind rage.

He was the guitarist when the first Freddy Fazbear's Pizza was opened in 1983. [1] In 1987, he and the original animatronics had all fallen into severe disrepair and Bonnie was replaced by his newer counterpart for the "improved" Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, Toy Bonnie . [2] After the pizzeria's closing, as well as the Toy Animatronics being scrapped, he and the original animatronics were refurbished for the new pizzeria, [3] as of the events of the first game. However, after the closure of the new pizzeria, he and the other animatronics got dismantled by their killer. His soul, along with the others, was presumably set free, as evidenced by the good ending .

Bonnie is an indigo-colored animatronic rabbit with blue accents, magenta eyes and a squarish muzzle. The color from his muzzle, stomach, and insides of his ears is a lavender color (white in Help Wanted ). While Bonnie appears purple in artworks and in Special Delivery , he's shown to be more dark blue than purple in most of the games where he and his counterparts appear, including FNaF World . This could indicate he was blue at one point, but got a paint job of purple under unknown circumstance, hence the blue blotches. He sports long articulated ears that are capable of bending backwards and forwards (similar to several other animatronics' ears) and wears a red bowtie with a neck strap that is partially obstructed by his chin. Onstage, he carries a dark red guitar. Unlike the other characters, he has round teeth and lacks eyebrows. Excluding his head, most of Bonnie's body appears identical to Freddy's, apart from the latter's color. This version of Bonnie, like most of the classic animatronics (except for Foxy ), has no visible teeth on his upper jaw. [4] In Help Wanted , he is primarily blue, the color of his muzzle, stomach and insides of his ears is now white, and his guitar sports a different look, but has a more reflective shiny suit in Special Delivery as if made of different material.

His older pre-rebuilt form [5] , known as Withered Bonnie , has a damaged appearance, which is due to an attempted retrofit of the older animatronics that took place before they got scrapped for the newer models, such as Toy Bonnie. [6] Like Withered Freddy, Withered Bonnie also has two buttons on his chest. His face has been gutted, with most of it being removed, revealing his endoskeleton mechanisms and dangling wires. His lower jaw remains, featuring more teeth than the original Bonnie possessed in the first game, although the jaw itself still appears to be functional as seen in his jumpscare from Help Wanted . His eyeballs are gone, exposing glowing red irises. His left arm is missing entirely, baring a tiny strip on the topmost section, with a mass of torn wires in its place. The red layering of his mouth has been removed, making his teeth seem longer than before. Withered Bonnie's right ear is mostly seen being folded, similar to a stereotypical rabbit. His suit has become tattered, particularly around the legs, and a few loose wires poke out of his body. The covering on his right hand and left foot have come off, revealing more of his endoskeleton. He also seems to have a bigger stomach, as it looks more rounded and bigger than his upper body. Also, his chin does not squash his bow tie now, and his suit seems to have changed to a darker shade of blue. Like the original Bonnie, Withered Bonnie also wears a red bowtie. Out of all the Withered Animatronics, he seems to be the most tattered, as he has no face apart from his jaw and has only one arm. In Help Wanted , Withered Bonnie's design remains unchanged, however, the most noticeable change is that he has a darker shade of purple.

The Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Theme Song reveals Bonnie to have a personality based on a rock musician; boastful, prideful, with the speech pattern of a laid back hippie stereotype.

During the night, Bonnie becomes a sadistic and vengeful killer, murdering any adults at the pizzeria at night to gain his vengeance against his killer. He is by far the most active animatronic, usually being the first one to leave the stage, showing an eagerness to kill. He also seems to be an unfair and dirty player, as one of his tactics is to go to the closet then straight to the office, unexpectedly foregoing his usual route to catch people off-guard. He's also persistent but gives up quickly when he gets repelled, as, in the first game, he's the animatronic that tries to attack the most, but he also doesn't take long to leave when he's shut out. His twitching and groaning in the West Hall indicates that he is impatient and fidgety. He seems aware the night guard is watching him, as he will directly stare at the camera to intimidate and disturb him.

In Ultimate Custom Night , if Bonnie is seen in Pirate Cove when he's active, he'll damage the cameras, temporarily disabling them. This is because, according to Bonnie's description for the game made by Scott Cawthon, he is upset and in a bad mood because he's forced to stay with Foxy in the Pirate Cove, which is cramped for both of them; thus, if he gets caught peeking outside of the Pirate Cove, he'll get mad, jumpscare the player, and disable the cameras for a while, showing that he hates cramped spaces and being disturbed. With this evidence that he hates cramped spaces, it can be assumed that he is claustrophobic. According to the Five Nights at Freddy's (How-to-Draw Book) book, Bonnie greatly enjoys playing his guitar, and is also described as being a confident performer.

In Ultimate Custom Night , as Withered Bonnie, he has a tendency to make face puns (in reference to the fact that his face is missing). He is also aware of the fact that he is in disrepair. His voice sounds damaged and malfunctions frequently, as well as the ominous buzzing in the background. While Withered Bonnie enjoys making face puns and taunting the player about his scary appearance due to lacking a face, he is also shown to be quite saddened that he is the only animatronic to be missing a face, thus feeling left out and neglected.

Normally, Bonnie is intentionally designed to perform on stage with the animatronic band, singing and playing his electric guitar. This Bonnie model, revealed in Help Wanted , also seems to have technology similar to Funtime Animatronics , with parts that pop open and close automatically at the push of two buttons, which might also be Bonnie himself before he had a paint job due to being blue and white similar to Toy Bonnie, unlike the purple and gray Bonnie with blue blotches from Five Nights at Freddy's . Bonnie is a Scottish given name and is sometimes used as a descriptive reference, as in the Scottish folk song, My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean . It comes from the Scots language word "bonnie" (pretty, attractive), or the French bonne (good). That is in turn derived from the Latin word "bonus" (good). The name can also be used as a pet form of Bonita .
