WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT - Mistress Sarah Jessica says her dungeon is somewhere for people to come and explore their submissive side...
The Fifty Shades of Grey book, and movie version - which hits screens on Saturday - have placed a spotlight on the secret worlds of bondage, domination and fetishes.
The Manchester Evening News spoke to one of the UK's busiest Dominatrix, Mistress Sarah Jessica, about her line of work, and also what she thinks about the 50 Shades phenomenon.
I’ve always been quite dominant, and I like to live my life that way, but I didn’t really pick up on it until five years ago.
Basically I started googling the concept of BDSM (Bondage and Discipline and Sado-Masochism), and exploring myself and my desires more. I met a friend who is a Mistress - a Mistress is a dominatrix - about three year ago and that’s when I became a Mistress.
Mistress Sarah Jessica, a Manchester-based dominatrix (face obscured)
I do this professionally, but I’m also a lifestyle mistress as well, it’s part of my own life and who I am.
Sex has got absolutely nothing to do with it whatsoever. I have clients, submissive men, who come and visit me at a dungeon. It’s not a sex club, it’s basically somewhere for people to come and explore their submissive side and get that out of their system.
I deal with a lot of different men with a lot of different fetishes.
I’d really like to get my point across that it’s OK to be ‘kinky’ and people should be more open about it. It should be accepted. People are suppressing themselves because they are worried about being judged as a person. This isn’t right. People should never hide away and should be more open.
If society was more accepting of this lifestyle and actually understood it then I think things would be a lot different. You should never be ashamed of who you are... and I encourage it fully.
It’s a big scene here, I know of about 10 mistresses, and I’m well known on the scene. Sadists and masochists are people who like to inflict pain and receive pain, and that’s all done in a safe, consensual manner, I would never take somebody to a level of something they’re not comfortable with. I always make sure they feel safe.
It’s a fully-equipped dungeon with lots of different pieces of equipment.
There’s things like a spanking bench and St Andrew’s Cross, a piece of wood which you are attached to by your arms. It’s used if you’re flogging somebody and for people who like to be restrained.
I have a pin wheel, with little spikes on that kind of rolls over your body - you can do it softly and people can actually find it very therapeutic.
It’s the same with the spanking and flogging, you can do it in a way that’s hard or very therapeutic - you can build the intensity.
It’s dark in the dungeon, but I like to think it’s a cosy atmosphere. Although if I’m doing spanking or corporal punishment when I’m using canes or paddles I like the lights on because then you can see the marks coming up on the flesh.
If somebody doesn’t want a mark, you have to know when to stop. Some people don’t feel comfortable telling their partners about what’s really going on inside their head, or they feel embarrassed about it, or that their wife will be freaked out, so they obviously can’t have visible marks when they go home.
But it’s not all about pain. It’s not about picking up a whip and beating somebody, there’s a huge psychological side to it. You’ve got to understand the submissive mind to become a mistress.
I read the first book, and I’m going to see the film this weekend.
In our lifestyle we believe in safety and consent and follow SSC which stands for safe, sane and consensual.
The book shows complete manipulation on Christian’s part to gain control and to get what he wants. Anna is a vulnerable girl and is fascinated by him. He knew this and used it to his advantage. To me that is abuse.
The book certainly paints and sugarcoats that in a sexy fun light, which is obviously not a good thing and could potentially be dangerous.
It’s not proper BDSM, it’s psychological abuse. If I remember rightly there was a time where she even used the safe word which he took upon himself to ignore. In the real world of BDSM this is a huge no no!! It takes it to another level.
There are male doms, as we call them, but you tend to find not so much professionally. I don’t really think girls would be willing to pay for a man to do it! I just don’t think there’s a need for it. A male dom would do it quite happily without being paid.
My outfits include a lot of leather and latex but also I can do sessions in just normal clothes as well. If you’re a dom people think you’re in PVC or leather all day, but we’re normal people as well.
Dominatrix Mistress Sarah Jessica talks about her career
You can’t stereotype a dominatrix, the lifestyle is so different to what people think it is. It upsets me if I’m honest, that people frown upon us quite a lot, but whats wrong with people enjoying the things that they like?
I get some unusual requests for certain things, but if I don’t want to do something or I don’t like the sounds of it I’ll direct them to someone else who might be able to help them. For me, this is a job that I enjoy, and I wouldn’t do anything I’d be uncomfortable with.
People think it’s all about pain, but there’s more psychological aspects - like sploshing - which involves food. I’ve had a guy who just wanted custard pouring over him, as if he’s bathing in food. He just likes the texture and feel of it. It’s not sexual, it’s fun.
Personally, I enjoy CBT (a term for a form of male genital torture) - and smoking fetishes, that’s one of the things I enjoy. I like to smoke a cigarette in front of them and blow it in their face. Some people find that quite sexy for a woman to be smoking. Some people like leather gloves.
I get a lot of repeat custom. That’s by getting to know what they’re into, and making them realise that it’s ok, they’re not a freak. It goes on a lot more than people think. Making them realise that I understand them, we build up a connection so they trust me. I like my clients leaving feeling good about themselves and happy that they’ve finally been able to express their desires to someone who completely understands.
Someone who gives a lot of reaction in a session, it’s always good for a mistress to get a reaction from a session because you’re more inclined to know if the sub’s enjoying it, a reaction is a must! It’s obviously important that they enjoy it. And obviously someone with the same interests as me.
I think I’ve been quite lucky, not had any bad experiences. I suppose my less favourite ones would be if the client goes very quiet.
It might be because they’re nervous but if they don’t react, it makes it harder for me to work out their mindsets.
If the sub is in quite a lot of distress, or if he asks for the session to stop, or if I don’t feel like the sub is enjoying it or is in a bad place. But it never comes to that stage because I’m usually good at reading people.
Also if they tried anything sexual, or tried to touch me, I would stop it immediately.
Some guy came in once and obviously didn’t read up on the differences between a prostitute and a mistress. He tried to feel my bum, and that was it for me. He had to leave because clearly he’d got the wrong idea of what’s going to happen.
But that doesn’t happen very often. People who contact me are quite respectful.

As seen in KaroneRys (https://www.deviantart.com/karonerys) 's gallery here -- Everyday, I'm Filterin' ???

Last time, we began with a question about names, so let’s do it again now. Why do you prefer “Karone” or “CK” to your real first name?

My mother has always called me Karone, so that's what I'm used to going by. My first name is also the name of my Father's Mother, who we lived with for seven years after I was born. I used to get mad when people would call me by it, but shortly after meeting Cameron he shortened it to "Cy" and I thought it was the cutest thing ever. As for CK, Courtney started calling me that like one minute after we met. It's
It's been quite a while since I posted an interview with a model from the internet bondage world, but that changes today with this interview with the beautiful Karly Salinas! I met Karly last year at Fetish Con and we talked for all of about thirty seconds because I met her at the Con's Fan Photo Shoot and her rigger gagged her just as we started talking. Perfect timing!  (I didn't even have a chance to get her business card or email address, but, thankfully, another model -- Nyxon -- gave me Karly's contact information.) But that all too brief encounter was all it took for Karly to say yes when I asked her if she would do an interview with me. When she received the questions, her response was "WOW!" Then, despite, her crazy-busy schedule (which you'll learn about here), she gave full/detailed answers a few hours later! She impressed me at every turn. Plus, she's a reader (and made a few book recommendations to me that I'll be checking out as soon as the Amazon order arrives next week)! I was also appreciative because Karly sent me her choices for the pictures that accompany today's interview. Hope you enjoy meeting Karly Salinas!!!

1.  Without getting too personal, please tell me a little about yourself -- your background, age, how you got into modeling, how you chose your modeling name, etc.?
I was born and raised in NM, with ties to and property in CO from a young age. I am currently 28, soon to be 29 in July. I hold a Master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology as of 2018. Hoping to go back and complete a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling that I was halfway through when I abandoned it 4 years ago in pursuit of my other M.S.
I got into vanilla modeling when I was 19. It all happened when I became reacquainted with a family friend and local NM artist who had a decent degree of fame internationally. He asked me to pose for his watercolor paintings and I was over-the-moon excited at the offer. We worked together for about 3 years before he passed away unexpectedly. He took me to New Orleans and Australia to paint me. Early into that, I also began working with a local agent who was freelancing and he found me secure work in front of the camera lens. That man disappeared a year or two into our working relationship and then I took over managing myself. So, basically since I was 20, I have been self-sufficient with my modeling work.
When I was a few days shy of my 25 th birthday, I got hired by a traveling fetish producer, who was traveling through Denver and offered me work. When I moved to Tampa six months later, one of the fans from what I shot in Denver saw that I was moving out there and he had a local FL producer contact me. Florida being the fetish capitol of the U.S., it just snow-balled from there and my fetish career quickly took off.
2.  What will people see if they visit your website, karlysdeviousdelights.com ?
My website, karlysdeviousdelights.com/ is a comprehensive place where you can find all of my work endeavors. It has my Clips4Sale store linked to it, forms to order a custom, book a shoot, or book a session with me on any of my travels. It has more information about the services I offer, as well as examples of my model portfolio. Also, there are links to my Amazon wishlists and links to my session wrestling profiles. Finally, the local talent and other talent available to me on my travels for customs and sessions is all listed on my website. Photographer: Ed & Aileen Photography
3.  What kind of photo content do you shoot? What won’t you shoot? What type of content do you enjoy shooting the most and why?
I shoot all non-nude fetish that doesn’t have any overt suggestions to sexual activity. I don’t shoot JOI, kissing, licking, or performing worship on others’ body parts, no male groping, no interaction with genitals, no elbow-to-elbow ties where both arms are straight and tied together. Dom roles preferred. No hardcore catfighting, no racism, and no human excrement. I enjoy being in control more than being submissive in my roles. It just vibes with my true personality more than anything. Of course, however I like to think I am a chameleon of various types of roles.
4.  What do you like most about being a model? What do you least enjoy about it?
I enjoy the people I meet, the creativity involved, the diverse experiences it entails, and getting to document my growth in skills and aging process. I love seeing the end result of my hard work. What I enjoy the least is how truly overwhelming it is managing a diversified business all on my own. Between the never-ending slew of incoming emails, posting and messaging across various social media outlets, marketing, creating advertisements, posting consistently on subscriber-exclusive platforms, traveling, spending time researching and booking all my travel specifics (flights, rental cars, hotels), documenting my expenses and income for tax-filing, shooting content, editing content, coordinating shoots with others, etc. It is a lot to handle, and at times draining because there just aren’t enough hours in the day. And even when I take a day off, it rides on my mind -- the to-do lists for my business. It is still, despite all that, incredibly rewarding to run my own business and watch it grow and succeed with the work I put into it. Photographer: Mercedez Cunanan
5.   You were at Fetish Con in 2019 and I know you’ve shot bondage content with, among others, Shiny from ShinyBound.com and Nyxon from NyxonsBondageFiles.com. What was your very first exposure to the world of fetish and bondage modeling? Were you interested in fetish or bondage before you decided to try it as a model? What other bondage site and/or producers have you worked for?
My first exposure to bondage was when I shot for both Nyxon and Shinybound back in probably 2016 or 2017. I loved the detail and niche they both had in their content. My first introduction ever to fetish was shooting WAM and giantess for Hannah Perez. I was interested in getting my foot into the fetish world for years prior to actually doing so. I had read some blogs and articles that offered insight from a fetish model I came across randomly. And I just remember wishing I could figure out how to get in, but had no clue. I guess it manifested when, years later, Hannah traveled to Denver and gave me my first taste. I was interested in bondage, but fearful of whether I could handle it. Figured I had to at least try it out to see. But I waited until I was approached by reputable bondage producers to do so. I’m sorry, but I couldn’t possibly list all the producers I have shot with all over the country. I’m sure it’s somewhere between 45-80 producers by now. Maybe more than that.
6.  Describe your first photo and/or video shoot? Were you nervous doing it? If so, how did you overcome that feeling?
My first photoshoot was so awkward. I had no idea how to pose my body. I had no concept of how to manipulate my facial expressions for the visually appealing manner needed for photography. It felt like it lasted hours and it was just so awkward that it was uncomfortable for me because I felt so inadequate and I had a form of stage fright about my confidence in my abilities. It just took repetition to overcome. I think that after seeing the photos, I became more interested in continuing to pursue it and wanting to try to better myself at it.
My first experience in a video shoot was the opposite. Sure, I was nervous about having to act and ad/lib or memorize lines/key words. But, I was working with some real professionals who were so easy to work with and so good at what they do. They made me feel super confident and they were really patient with me. I think it was just difficult for me to not laugh at myself or the scripts, and that remained the case for my first few shoots until I realized what a knack I actually had for it all. 7.  What factors do you consider when thinking about whether to shoot bondage with a producer who expresses an interest in working with you?
Well, I have really (at times) debilitating tendinitis in my arms and hands. So, I have always tried to be careful in not doing anything too severely tight. But, I have certainly found myself tied up very tight and I am now beginning to realize that I may have some nerve damage. My hands go super numb on my hikes these days, no matter what I do to try to prevent it. It’s horrible. So, I will not be working in situations where I am tied too tight anymore at all. It just isn’t worth the long-term sacrifice in health. Also, I have begun to develop severe splitting on the corners of my mouth from ballgags. So, I really am avoiding those as much as possible anymore, and may be taking them off the table entirely because the recovery is too long after wearing one.
Other than that, I just look for references, am sure to vet that person, and only work with very reputable producers. Bondage is literally the only fetish category that I have worked in that I have found myself in sometimes compromising situations that push my limits in different ways; whether the storyline of the video is too sexual or dark for me, the producer is too aroused, the tie is too tight and I go numb, or I get a headache from too much struggling. So, I am much more scrutinizing and selective about who I shoot with now that I am more familiar with it all.
8.   During the times that you’ve done bondage modeling, did you enjoy being tied up? And, if so, what were your favorites -- Method of restraint? Type of gag? Bondage position? Wardrobe?
When the tie isn’t too tight, I don’t particularly mind being tied up. However, playing the part of the damsel in distress is something I am good at, but not personally fond of. I don’t like roles where women are objectified, dehumanized, or powerless. But I can separate my personal values from the act. I just have very specific limitations to maintain the balance in order to continue shooting it.
