We saw one guy bravely carry his lady-friend up the steps in the heat — he reached the top looking very pale and was still trying to catch his breath 20 minutes later. Then we went for a swim off the island, much to the delight of a horde of Chinese tourists who decided to take photos of us as if we were the craziest beings they had ever seen.
