The problem for those experiencing body dysmorphia is that perfection, as it pertains to the human body, is an illusion. Quality of appearance is subjective, which means there's no cumulative set of attributes mankind collectively judges as 'perfect'. That means what one person sees as perfect another might see as hideous.

While it's 100% acceptable to pursue your sense of body perfection, don't assume the commonly-worshiped male body is either healthy or fit. If you want shredded abs, you could get them through extensive dieting. Hard to get, even harder to maintain year-round. Being stage-lean is exhausting; being dehydrated is exhausting.

I was wondering in general, for people dating over forty, how important is a perfect body compared to personality or other traits? Just curious about people's thoughts on this.
I thought I was signing up for GOLO but instead I was "phished" to the Perfect Body site. After giving my information $ paid $67.00 but my checking statement read Perfect Body not GOLO.

Those "perfect" bodies you see online - how much of that is fitness, genetics, or plain fake?
Your body changes with age, and it has been changing since you were born. It takes some time to get used to yourself again. Look in the mirror. Look at pictures of yourself laughing with friends. No glamour shots where you analyze every line that ever existed on your face, though. I felt like I was past my prime when I turned 24.
Just because because somebody may look like they have the "perfect" body, doesn't mean they don't have their own issues and insecurities about it. You never know what's going on behind the scenes, so don't idolize a "perfect body" or tell somebody they're crazy because they want to gain weight.
The evolutionary process that created our bodies doesn't optimize for bodily perfection, it optimizes for reproductive capability. Subjective attractiveness is certainly a factor in other people's analysis of your reproductive potential, but it's not the only factor.
I'm so grateful for finding this sub; living vicariously through peoples' shared experiences has really begun to rewire my brain struggling...

It doesn't help when I see women on social media with perfect bodies and I start thinking "they're so perfect, why would anyone willingly choose me over them?" I believe my future partner will always feel like they settled because my body could always "be better".
Assuming the question refers to how I would personally want to look: the perfect female body would be smooth skin, thin/nonexistant body hair, wide hips to equal or greater than the width of the shoulders, and proportionally sized breasts, of course (I wouldn't want huge breasts but at least large enough to have cleavage).
