Interior designer Bobby Berk and his husband Dewey Do got married in 2012 after same-sex marriage was legalized in the United States.
Berk's wedding to his husband Do was entirely unique in many regards.
The Queer Eye actor, who portrays his real-life profession in his reel life, dated Do for around fourteen years before their wedding.
Berk said Do was "very lucky" that he said "yes," and remarked his husband's confident attitude as he was being proposed.
He was posed with a sudden marriage proposal by Do, and before he could think of planning for his big day, the marriage was already in place.
One of Berk and Do's friends was responsible for officiating and legally working out their wedding.

However, toward the end of the year, the couple had to frantically run to the courthouse in downtown New York to register their marriage on time after finding out they weren't married legally.
It turned out their friend trusted with processing the paperwork failed to register their marriage on time.
The newlywed became suspicious after not receiving their marriage certificate, even after applying for it via their friend.
According to a 2019 report by People , Berk and Do planned to have kids in five years from the said time.
A year prior, the couple had just moved from their downtown Los Angeles loft house to their under-renovated home in Los Angeles, near Silver Lake.
They previously lived in New York for around fifteen years.
Berk's new home was located high in the hills and was far from busy street noise.
"We left New York for this, for the quiet. Like, I can open my windows at night here and sleep," Berk said in his explanation.
Being caught up in two professions meant Berk barely made it to his home.
The actor-designer told the magazine that he had only slept in his new home for a total of two weeks since moving in.
Berk's busy work routine meant his husband Do was alone and forced to live his absence.
When the topic of having kids popped up, Berk said having kids with his long-time partner was part of their "five-year plan."
Berk quoted Do and said how his partner "don't want to be a single parent," as he is gone "like 90 percent of the time."
He also remarked his then-new house to be not kid-friendly.
In the same light, Berk said he wished to have kids with Do after moving to a new house suitable for raising their children.
Despite being in a relationship for a long period, Berk and his partner keep up via constant text messages and FaceTimes.
They had also imposed a rule of seeing each other at least once a week, regardless of everything.

How exciting! Queer Eye is back on Netflix for a third season and it's fully dropped the "Straight Guy" from its title. Currently set in Kansas City, this season will make over the houses and lives of roommates, couples and *gasp* even the Fab Five's first lesbian.
The Fab Five, who are responsible for upgrading participants' lives, are none other than Karamo Brown (culture) , Antoni Powoski (food and wine), Tan France (fashion), Jonathan Van Ness (grooming), and Bobby Berk (design).
And though viewers have been enjoying their antics for the past couple of seasons, many are curious about the personal lives of these fabulous queers. Like, who's Bobby Berk's Vietnamese husband, the guy he mentions on the show from time to time and is often pictured with in his Instagram photos?
Although Bobby makes his living out of his lifestyle and design expertise on television, his husband Dewey Do prefers to remain in the shadows. His Instagram account is set to private, and it seems like he's made Bobby stop tagging him in recent photos.
Dewey might have even made Bobby remove the more PDA-esque content of the couple on Instagram, like the time Bobby posted about their 14th anniversary, as well as one in which they showed off their new LA home. Well, whatever works for them is what they should keep doing. This couple has been together for quite some time.
If your husband asks you to take down photos, it might be an unspoken key to success in your marriage; at least it seems that way because Dewey and Bobby have been going strong for a while now. "We got married as soon as it was legal to get married and it was important to us to show the world our pride through our expression of love," Bobby shared on Facebook as part of his sponsored Pride partnership with Lyft.
Though Bobby initially revealed in Queer Eye 's pilot that he'd been married for five years (putting their marriage at roughly eight years now, if our calculations are correct), he mentioned that they'd been an item for way longer than that. Bobby and Dewey were together for another eight years before tying the knot, and it looks like they've figured out their key to a successful union: do your own things and travel a lot.
After living in New York City for many years, the couple recently moved to downtown L.A., where Bobby got to put his skills to the test and design the couple's own living space. Sleuths were pretty convinced Dewey worked in the medical spa business based on a 2010 tweet in which Bobby wrote they were "checking out condos in Saigon. Building is great! Also has a mall I can open a Bobby Berk Home in and that Dewey can open his medical spa."
But according to a more recent interview with People , in which the expert designer opened his loft up to the magazine, Bobby revealed his husband's occupation was actually as a maxillofacial surgeon. Judging from how often they travel, we're guessing he owns his own practice.
We wish all the best to this ultra-private couple and hope they're having a great time living in their ultra designed apartment. We'll be following Bobby's Instagram account to see where in the world they travel to next.

Perhaps the only thing I love more than Bobby Berk's taste in decor is his cute AF relationship with his husband of nearly eight years, Dewey Do. Though Queer Eye 's interior design guru is pretty tight-lipped about their love story, what I do know about Bobby Berk and Dewey Do's relationship history truly sounds like a fairytale. Berk may keep the details of how they met hush-hush, but he shares plenty of couple pics on IG, and he definitely isn't shy about expressing his love for Do. In July 2019, the designer even told Stylist that his happy place is " at home with my husband " and that Do is his "greatest love." My heart!
Do, who is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon , has a resume just as impressive as his husband's. After graduating from the University of California, Irvine, where he majored in biology, Do earned his dental degree at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He then went on to complete his six-year residency (as well as an accelerated med school program) at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Very #casual. Though Do doesn't have a public IG account, here's everything I know about the surgeon's 16-year-long relationship with the Queer Eye star.
In 2003, Berk moved to New York City to be with a guy he was seeing. "I went up there [to New York City] to visit a friend, and I met somebody, " he told Forbes during a May 2019 interview. "Though that relationship didn't last, I had fallen in love with the city." And it's a good thing he stayed, because in May 2004, Berk started dating his future husband.
Though Berk has never shared how he and Do crossed paths, Do was likely completing his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York at the time. On May 10, 2019, Berk wished Do a happy 15-year dating anniversary with a sweet IG post.
Though they didn't actually make the big move, a Nov. 2010 tweet from Berk suggests that he and Do considered moving to Saigon in Vietnam after they'd been together for more than five years. " Checking out condos in Saigon ," he tweeted. "Building is great! Also has a mall I can open a Bobby Berk Home in and that Dewey can open his medical spa." Do is Vietnamese , and Berk is a big fan of Vietnamese food , so making a home there would make sense for the couple.
In June 2018, Berk took to Facebook to wish his hubs a happy six-year wedding anniversary, saying they " got married as soon as it was legal to get married" and had a friend officiate the ceremony. A week before posting his tribute on Facebook, Berk told People that both the proposal and the wedding were surprises orchestrated by Do. " I was surprised with a proposal and then before I could even think about planning a wedding, the wedding was happening then as well," he said.
However, the two weren't technically married until several months later, since the friend who married them "never sent in the correct paperwork." As Berk explained to People , "We had to frantically run to the courthouse in downtown New York City to get married before the end of the year to make sure our taxes were filed properly."
During a July 2019 interview with the Hospitality Design podcast, Berk revealed that he and Do decided to make the move from New York City to Los Angeles " about four years ago ." According to Forbes , Berk decided to close up shop on Bobby Berk Home (which he launched back in 2006) after the lease ended for his brick-and-mortar store in Manhattan in 2015. " I decided to let retail go since it was engulfing my life," he explained. Soon after, the couple moved to L.A., where Berk founded Bobby Berk Interiors + Design.
After 16 years together and eight years of marriage, Berk and Do see children in their future. As Berk told People in June 2019, having kids is a part of their " five-year plan ," or "when things have calmed down from Queer Eye a little bit." I have a feeling the best is yet to come for these two lovebirds!

We all know and love Bobby Berk as the interior design expert on Netflix’s popular reboot, Queer Eye . And while Bobby has talked very openly and extensively about his difficult childhood growing up in Mount Vernon, Missouri, he seldom talks about his long-term boyfriend-turned-husband, Dewey Do. Naturally, fans of the show are eager to find out everything there is to know about the very elusive and private man in Bobby Berk’s life. So, we’ve created this Dewey Do wiki to help fill in some of the gaps about Bobby Berk’s husband.
Born Dutran T. Do, Bobby Berk’s husband goes by the nickname Dewey. Although Dewey doesn’t have a very prominent online footprint—his Instagram account is set to private and his Twitter account seems to be nonexistent—he does make the occasional appearance on Bobby’s Instagram.
Take, for example, this ultra-adorable FaceApp picture Bobby posted on July, 17, 2019, where the couple could easily pass as two loveable gay dads in a Disney sitcom.

Dewey Do’s age is unknown, but since Bobby was born in 1981, we can only assume that they’re around the same age. It’s hard to tell from the pictures of Bobby Berk and Dewey Do on Instagram, though, because they both seem to defy the laws of aging!
This couple has been together for more than 15 years! They’ve been married for at least six of those years and Bobby even revealed that their wedding was officiated by a very close friend of theirs who became ordained for the occasion.
Given that he’s a very private person, there’s no information available on Dewey Do’s family, but Bobby has dropped a few clues in the form of hashtags on his Instagram posts.
Here’s a cute picture of Bobby, Dewey, Bobby’s brother, and a young woman who appears to be a relative going snowboarding on a 2015 family trip to the picturesque Bear Mountain in British Columbia. It’s captioned: “When your little bro grows a mustache and looks like @cheechandchong.”

One of the hashtags Bobby used for this picture is #Vietnamese, which indicates that’s what Dewey Do’s ethnicity is. Clearly, Bobby Berk is very proud of his husband’s nationality!

Dewey and Bobby lived together in New York City for several years before making the move to L.A. in 2018. The couple now calls a refurbished train station their home. Not surprisingly, Bobby took on the design duties for the downtown loft, and the 115-year-old abode features a dark, muted color palette with “masculine undertones.”
According to Berk, the space not only boasts “huge” windows for an incredible view of L.A., but also a king-size Magniflex MagniStretch mattress that retails for $3,500.
Bobby says he spares no expense when it comes to their sleeping quarters because “you spend about 30% of your life in bed, and you should be comfortable, and you should wake up every day just feeling good.”
It appears that Bobby Berk’s husband isn’t just incredibly handsome—he’s also very intelligent, caring, and hard working! Who says you can’t have it all?
According to his professional profile on the Center for Oral Reconstruction & Education (CORE) website, Dr. Dewey Do has a dual degree as a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Dewey Do specializes in surgeries of the face, mouth, and jaw.
Currently based in L.A. along with his hubby, Bobby, Dr. Do has always had an interest in becoming a surgeon. He attended the University of California, Irvine, majoring in biology. After that, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Connecticut Health Center.
As if that wasn’t impressive enough, he then went on to complete a six-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, which is where he met his future husband!
At the time, he also completed an advanced medical school program and received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree along with a year-long general surgery internship.
To add even more experience to his extensive resume, Dr. Do also worked as a clinical instructor at his alma mater, the Mount Sinai Medical Center. While there, he assisted in training oral and maxillofacial surgery residents.
With such a strong penchant for helping others—most notably those less fortunate than him—Dr. Do has traveled extensively throughout the Philippines and Mexico to perform surgical procedures on patients born with cleft lips and palates.
With his dual degrees in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Do is also fully qualified to administer cosmetic facial injectable procedures including Restylane, Botox, Juvederm, and Dysport.
He’s also won several academic and professional awards and distinctions including the Lesnick Scholarship, the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Max Som Scholarship, and the Hinz Award. During his undergrad, Dr. Do was also honored by appearing on the University of California, Irvine Dean’s Honor List.
He currently works at CORE and keeps a very low profile in complete contrast to Bobby’s very public and beloved image. But they complement each other well and are still very much in love after all these years.
