My boobs are RECKED from breastfeeding but im pushing through. Today I noticed actual blood in my breastmilk meaning when I breastfeed, I imagine he's also getting some of my blood from my boobs... should I be concerned??
I dont have any medical issues or blood disorders. The only thing is genital herpes... I cant pass it to him from breastfeeding blood right???
I think if you just have breastfeeding sores it should be fine, but worth calling your doctor to double check.
baby will be fine, but get you some help momma! Contact your Ob office and ask for a lactation consultant. They’re lifesavers!
In the meantime, go send your partner out to get breast shells and make sure you have lanolin. I will link an example of breast shells below...it can be any brand, but I just wanted you to have an idea of what you’re looking for.
After each nursing session hand express some breast milk and spread on nipples, follow with the lanolin. Keep the breast shells on when not nursing to allow your nipples to breathe and heal and not be irritated by your clothes.
Make a super saturated salt solution (just google how to do it) and get a clean rag or a paper towel and put that on your nipples. It’ll sting but the salt will help heal your nipples. You can do this as many times a day as you like.

I second this! I went to see the lactation nurse today because I was in tears with pain trying to breastfeed. She told me to do all these to get my nipples feeling better, and she was able to show me how to effectively feed with no pain. She's seriously probably my favorite person in the world right now.
yesssss. My mom is a retired L&D nurse and was also a certified breastfeeding counselor and she’s the whole reason I didn’t have many issues breastfeeding (and who I got all those tips from). I still went and saw an LC a few times because they are amazing!!
Please look for a reputable IBCLC in your area. Many doctors are not expert in lactation.

I agree with the previous responders! I wouldn’t be too concerned about passing blood borne illness to your child but your nipples should not be bleeding. Time to get some help before it gets worse. And the shells are super helpful as well as making sure to let your nipples air dry! Good luck
I would talk to your pediatrician about this!! I had the same question re blood on nipples and mine told us it’s nothing to worry about — the only concern is if your baby spits up some blood just making it hard to know whether it came from your nipples (very likely) or somewhere else.
