About Blonde Redhead. Since their inception in , Blonde Redhead have released some of the most sonically interesting guitar-driven Indie Rock on the circuit. Originally incorporating the more melodic elements of Sonic Youth's dual guitar attack, the group created songs rich in dissonant texture and driving, urgent rhythms.
Their last record "Penny Sparkle" is one of my favorite Blonde Redhead albums, as well as "23" and "Misery is a Butterfly". However, it hurts for me to say it, but I think "Barragan" lacks some effort to make it sounds more like the band's ninth studio album. Performance wise is not as strong as its predecessors/5(35).

Blonde Redhead caught the attention of Sonic Youth's drummer, Steve Shelley, who produced their first self titled album in Shortly afterwards Maki Takahashi left the band and the remaining band members continued as a trio. On their third album, Fake Can Be Just As Good, they we read more.
Takahashi left the band shortly after, with Blonde Redhead continuing as a trio, releasing a second album, "La Mia Vita Violenta" in the same year. For their next release, "Fake Can Be Just as Good," they were joined by Unwound's bassist, Vern Rumsey, who was a guest on the album.
With Makino and Amedeo on guitars and vocals, Simone on drums, and Takahashi on bass, the band's chaotic, artistic rock caught the attention of Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, who produced and released the band's debut album, Blonde Redhead, on his Smells Like Records label. Shortly after the album's release, Takahashi left the band.
Blonde Redhead is perhaps the most straightforward album they ever made, with songs like "Astro Boy," "Mama Cita," and "Swing Pool" making the Sonic Youth comparisons understandable. Yet the way "I Don't Want U" shifts from its jazzy intro to explosive rock and primal scream vocals is still striking, as is the cinematic delicacy of "Girl Boy."Brand: Numero.
