Blocked SD-WAN and VPN

According to foreign media reports that a new mainland China policy will take effect next week, which will have a profound impact on companies in China that rely on Internet VPN or SD-WAN access. It includes tens of thousands of foreign companies and foreign individuals.

According to a Netease cloud headline, a notice issued by SD-WAN Experts from China Telecom shows that the Chinese government requires China's major commercial Internet service providers (ISPs) to block TCP port 80, port 8080 and ports by January 11, 2018. 443. Of course, port 80 is the TCP port that is typically used to carry HTTP traffic; port 8080 and port 443 are used to carry HTTPS traffic. If the customers of these commercial ISPs intend to continue to access these ports, they must re-open the port by registering or applying with their local ISP.

Bloomberg first reported in July last year the news that the new regulations will be implemented by February 2018. And this is the first time given a specific date.

In July 2017, China Telecom sent a letter to corporate customers stating that in the future, only VPNs will be allowed to connect to the overseas headquarters of the company.
