Virginia grandma Viola Brown just reached a milestone that few people see: celebrating her 110th birthday.
On October 4, Brown joined the exclusive club of supercentenarians — a list of people who have lived to see their 110th birthday. David Weiss, Chairman of Clarke County Board of Supervisors, proclaimed October 4 as “Viola Roberts Lampkin Brown Day.” He also presented Brown with a certificate at her birthday celebration.
“Over the course of more than a century, Viola Roberts Lampkin Brown has witnessed Clarke County’s progress and growth, which reflects the growth of our nation, and she has made extraordinary memories that are woven into her unique narrative of American history,” the proclamation said. “Centenarian Viola Roberts Lampkin Brown, who still lives in her Josephine Street home where she maintains a daily routine that includes spiritual reflection, now joins a small but extraordinary group of individuals known as supercentenarians.”
What’s the secret to Brown’s longevity ? She says that her faith has allowed her to be the longest living member of her family.
“He wakes me up in the morning. He tells me what to do. I don’t worry about things,” Brown told The Christian Post in an interview.
Brown was born on Oct. 4, 1911 in Hume, Virginia. She was the youngest of her 12 brothers and sisters, Christian Headlines reported.
Brown has seen a lot during her lifetime. She was a toddler when World War I started. She was around when the women’s suffrage movement ended and the deadly Spanish flu pandemic spread through the United States. Brown has witness segregation and affirmative action. She also saw the making of the first Black President.
Now, Brown is standing strong during the pandemic. The Christian Post reported that Brown is unvaccinated. She’s putting full faith in God to protect her during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also hasn’t depended on medications all her life.
“She never took any prescribed medication until she was 101,” Vonceil Hill, Brown’s 79-year-old daughter and only living child, shared during an interview with The Christian Post . “They put her on a low dose [medication] for high blood pressure.”
An ABC 7 News affiliate noted that Brown has “eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.” Her two husbands — John Lampkin and Rev. Paul Brown — passed away in 1982 and 1998, respectively.
On September 20, the Gerontology Research Group noted that there are only 18 people in the world that have reached 110 or older.
Andrew Roberts, Brown’s nephew, noted that he has always felt love and joy in her presence. He believes her devotion to her faith has played an instrumental role in her life’s blessings.
“I think one of the things, in terms of her longevity, has to do with her faith,” says Roberts. “The lifestyle [she practices]. She doesn’t let a lot of things bother her. She has great capacity either to tolerate stress or just kind of eliminate it for the most part because she is centered. She’s centered on something greater than herself.”

Virginia’s gubernatorial race was the most watched election of the 2021 cycle, but the woman who won the number-two spot in Richmond is getting her share of the attention — as a proxy in arguments over which political party is more racist. Winsome Sears was chosen as Virginia’s first Black woman Lt. Governor, and conservatives are using her victory to flip conversations about race and partisan politics on their head, according to the Washington Post. From CNN:
“She was national chair of Black Americans Making America First, a coalition that promotes initiatives by former President Donald Trump and has defended him after controversies and racist comments. Asked about her support for Trump, Sears told CNN, ‘I am an independent thinker’ and promised to ensure ‘more diverse representation is appointed on boards and commissions.’ She also said she would increase funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. In general, Sears has downplayed the influence of race on her political outlook and touted the progress of equality for Black Americans, but has also acknowledged that there is more work to be done. ‘There is no Census Bureau category called ‘of color.’ I am Black. Virginians are ready for strong, principled and sensible leaders who will serve them — no matter one’s color.”
That might be news to her conservative supporters, who seem to want everyone to know that Sears is Black and that it was Republicans, not Democrats who supported her rise. From the Wall Street Journal:
“What did all these racist Virginia voters do Tuesday night? In addition to electing [Glenn Younkin] as governor, they elected Winsome Sears as Lt. Gov. She will be the first African-American woman to be elected to statewide office in Virginia history...Despite what Democrats say, voters know their neighbors and they don’t see a racist society or country.”
It’s not clear which voters they asked whether racism was still a thing in politics, but for the record, it definitely is. Meanwhile, Sears is weighing in on social media. After the Atlantic columnist Jemele Hill tweeted that Republicans’ pickup of the Virginia governor’s mansion was due to white supremacy, Sears tweeted her disagreement with a photo of herself holding.. .an assault rifle . Not sure how, exactly, the gun refuted Hill’s point, which was more about Republican policies and rhetoric that uphold white supremacy than Winsom’s skin color (or her weapon of choice.)

The Daily Wire  >  Read  >  VIRAL VIDEO: Black Woman’s Fiery Denunciation Of Critical Race Theory Before School Board
© Copyright 2022 , The Daily Wire LLC | Terms | Privacy | Support
"You cannot tell me what is or is not racist."
At a public meeting, a black woman in Loudoun County, Virginia, erupted in a fiery denunciation of the school board’s seeming intent to implement the teaching of Critical Race Theory, blasting, “CRT is racist; it is abusive; it discriminates against one’s color. … Think twice before you indoctrinate such racist theories. You cannot tell me what is or is not racist. Look at me. I had to come down here today to tell you to your face that we are coming together and we are strong.”
The woman began by quoting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “In the words of Martin Luther King Jr., ‘I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character,’” she said. “Now I have a dream that we will implement love, not hate, or supporting another Jim Crow’s agenda. CRT is not a ‘nice dialogue,’ it was a tactic that was used by Hitler and the Ku Klux Klan on slaveries many years ago to dumb down my ancestors so we could not think for ourselves. CRT is racist; it is abusive; it discriminates against one’s color.”
Shaking her finger, she snapped, “Let me educate you: An honest dialogue does not oppress. An honest dialogue does not implement hatred and injustice; it’s to communicate without deceiving people. Today we don’t need your agreement. We want action and a backbone for what we ask for today: to ban CRT.”
“We don’t want your political advertisement to divide our children or belittle them. Think twice before you indoctrinate such racist theories. You cannot tell me what is or is not racist. Look at me. I had to come down here today to tell you to your face that we are coming together and we are strong. This will not be the last greet-and-meet. Respectfully.”
The Daily Wire reported on March 16:
A group of current and former teachers and others in Loudoun County, Virginia, compiled a lengthy list of parents suspected of disagreeing with school system actions, including its teaching of controversial racial concepts — with a stated purpose in part to “infiltrate,” use “hackers” to silence parents’ communications, and “expose these people publicly.”
Members of a 624-member private Facebook group called “Anti-Racist Parents of Loudoun County” named parents and plotted fundraising and other offline work. Some used pseudonyms, but The Daily Wire has identified them as a who’s who of the affluent jurisdiction outside D.C., including school staff and elected officials.
The Daily Wire later reported that Interim Superintendent Scott Ziegler, in response to the furor that erupted after the revelation of the “enemies list,” said that “LCPS has not adopted Critical Race Theory as a framework for staff to adhere to…. but does have a Culturally Responsive Framework .”
That 28-page document contains elements that echo key critical race theory concepts and was written in part by Equity Committee member Tara Hewan. Hewan had called for the school system to ban students from wearing materials related to former President Donald Trump, The Daily Wire noted.
The Daily Caller reported on March 23 that a recall campaign had been launched by a group called Loudoun Parents for Education (LPE) targeting six members of the Loudoun County school board for “neglect of duty, misuse of office, and incompetence in the performance of their duties” after reports surfaced accusing them of participating in the Facebook group “Anti-Racist Parents of Loudoun County” that included calls to list parents who opposed Critical Race Theory being taught in schools or wanted in-person learning restored.
LPE issued a press release stating, “Not only is this a failure of their duty to represent their constituents, but it raises serious questions about Virginia’s open meeting laws.”
An attorney for the GOP political action committee called The Virginia Project sent a cease-and-desist letter to one of the six board members, writing:
You commented to this Facebook group that you were concerned that Loudoun County parents opposed to the teaching of critical race theory or “equity” in Loudoun County Public Schools were “gaining support” and that your fellow school board members should be pushed to “call out statements and actions which undermine our stated plan to combat systemic racism at LCPS.”
The letter continued by asserting that one member of the Facebook group had explained that volunteers were needed to infiltrate Parents Against Critical Theory (PACT) and similar groups, hack or shut down and hijack websites and organizations.
The letter addressed the school board member: “You did not ask your fellow Facebook members to stop what they were doing, you did not rebuke or reprimand them, and you did not warn them about the risks of engaging in the above described illegal, reckless, inflammatory and irresponsible actions.”
