Why we must Teach our children Our History
White Supremacy is a religion and political system invented to keep Black people down and create within them a sense of inferiority and helplessness. To facilitate its spread and sustain its venom the white supremacist invented the writing of history. Before the raise of white supremacy you had annals written by people to acknowledge certain historical evenets, but it was the white supremacist that initiated the writing of a history that made “white/Europeans’ the centerpiece of the history.
Not a true history of the world and its people. It is a History that accommodates white supremacy by promoting a lie that history was only made by white people. In this history the founders of the River Valley Civilizations of Egypt, India and Mesopotamia were pale (and dark skinned) ‘white people’.
White Supremacists know the history they teach is a Lie. They know it is a Lie because the Greeks and Romans who were firsthand observers of these civilizations acknowledged they were founded and maintained by Black people. The white supremacists knew that if people knew this truth, their efforts to promote white supremacy would fell so they taught the world the Classic literature was myth, and not history.
Mainstream history is like a tree with many branches or a snake with multiple heads. It has been a history sold to the entire world that Black men and women were always slaves who were the servants of their white masters. Thusly the Lie was invented and maintained by the white supremacists, that the world has always been ruled by the ‘white man’.
You see writing history is the principle method used by the white supremacist to mislead Black people. White Supremacist writing history ensures that Black people buy into this history and support white supremacy.
Thusly, most Black professors and teachers teach a history curriculum that ‘white out’ the role of Black people in history prior to 1492. Some of them don’t know OUR history, while other professionals know the true history of Black people ,but they teach white supremacist Lies about the history of Black people so they can help maintain the status qua in countries around the world.
You see the intention of white supremacist is to demoralize Black people and keep them fighting among themselves and feeling inferior. Although this is the intention of white supremacy only foundational black American scholars have consistently fought against this religion and the white supremacist hegemony of writing history. The greatest foundational Black American scholar to influence the writing of history was W.E.B. DuBois. It was W.E.B. DuBois whose books the Negro and The World and Africa that influenced Carter G. Woodson, J.A. Rogers, John Jackson ,Anta Diop and myself.
I have spent over 40 years confirming the history taught us by the savants mentioned above to show our rich and vibrant history and promote a history curriculum that fully informs our children where we came from, and their ability to make the future even greater. In the 1980-90s, lazy researchers only talked about Egypt as if it was the only great civilization we founded, this was not the case with DuBois, Rogers and Jackson.
I have followed this tradition. I hope that today, now that children are at home engaged in remote learning, we begin to teach our children their true history. Knowledge of this history will make many of children to aspire greatness instead of gang banging and destruction of our communities.
