ventilators being blocked off
by occupiers who are being
annoyed by draughts. This
makes an important contribution
to safety. New tests show that
while this works the ventilator
may not pass the required
amount of air when the
appliance is operating.

THE BRITISH STANDARD AND
GAS SAFE GOOD PRACTICE.
The Benefits of a 'Black Hole®'
• Stops wind blasting in - the air flow within the duct is slowed down by
the change of direction and by the vortices formed, reducing draughts
to a minimum.
• Stops light showing through - the occupier cannot see through the
ventilator and is less likely to be worried that insects and vermin may
enter the house through it.
• Stops light shining out - night flying insects like moths, crane flies and
mosquitoes are not attracted in.
• Absorbs outside noise - reduces the penetration of traffic noise. The
internal construction works as a sound baffle.
• Allows air to be pulled through by the appliance when it is operating.
• Safety - with draught and light annoyance problems eliminated, the
occupier will not be tempted to block off the vent.
The 'Black Hole®' Magic Explained
As outside wind pressure increases, a normal ventilator lets more
air through causing annoying draughts.
Inside the Stadium 'Black Hole®' Ventilator vortices are formed
behind the internal blades as the incoming air is forced to change
direction. The gap that the air is able to pass through narrows. As
wind pressure increases, the vortices grow, so reducing the total air
flow, finally tumbling and slowing to a trickle, thereby cutting down
annoying draughts.
However, when the heating appliance is operating, air is drawn through
the vent and actually speeds up within the constricted air flow between
the vortices, thus maintaining the correct amount of air into the room
or compartment to allow the fuel to burn efficiently and flue gases
to escape.
When the appliance is not working, incoming air is reduced to a
minimum, even on windy days. The actual physical difference is that
of air blown or drawn. The energy of the blown air (wind) is quickly
dissipated by the restriction of the internal shape and the vortices,
while the drawn air will flow smoothly round the vortices.

I have a big and tall cat who both scatters litter and occasionally pees over the side of the litter box. This litter mat has saved my sanity, as it is remarkably easy to clean and prevents any stray pee from escaping the mat and soaking into my hardwood floors. The cats were a bit weirded out about walking on it the first day, but adjusted quickly. 100% worth the cost.
Definitely better than a standard rubber mat. Not too bad to clean, but if you’re worried about odor, clean it frequently! It seems like it would just suck in the odor if allowed to sit.
Captures litter that normally would get tracked across the floor by my cat
I have had one of these for a couple of years and it has worked perfectly. I needed another Matt and decided to purchase another one.
This mat keeps neat and tidy my cat box area. Kitty litter tracking about happens quite a bit less with the use of this mat.
Our cat has a tendency to trail litter with him after he’s used his box. This mat catches it pretty effectively, and makes it easy to put the excess litter back in the box (or dispose of dirty). It cleans up pretty easily too, and hasn’t warped after cleaning so far.
I had been seeing this item for a while every time I was looking for yet another kitty litter mat because once again mine had not met expectations and sometimes had also been devastated by my animals. What ALWAYS deterred me from buying this one (though it did sound/look promising) was the PRICE! $40?! I have paid that before for a mat before; but that was at the pet store and for a mat that I could have gotten on Amazon for $20. So if I were to equate this price to one my former mats, it would be $60, since that's what it is sold for in pet stores. I just wanted to try and find a good one for $20-$25! Well, I tried for YEARS! And while some of them were pretty good, they either just collected a ton of litter ON TOP to be spread to my floors, or they were a REAL PAIN to completely clean (and still didn't trap as much litter as I would like)! This one is SO different from all of the ones I have bought before. After trying SO MANY and forming a list of problems I had with all of them, I KNEW what specific qualities I needed. 1) Design - All of the others were really just one surface, even though some had obnoxious twists and turns of rubber on top so the litter would be "trapped underneath". The problem with those was that they did nothing to get the litter IN BETWEEN the paws to fall, and any texture on them was not high enough to contain hardly any litter at all "below" the surface. However this mat addressed BOTH of these design flaws. This is TWO surfaces. One completely flat surface underneath so that the litter can easily slide out when you're emptying it, and the top surface is a "honeycomb" design of medium sized bumps that actually SPREAD (not uncomfor
