BLK ED Network Narrowing the racial leadership gap for Black nonprofit directors
Changing the world is a risk worth taking. Running a nonprofit by yourself is not.
I AM NOT OK: Creating Healing Spaces for Black Executive Directors
Between the long days and endless hours, you’re going to need community, access to capital, and a clear path to cultivate your dreams. But these luxuries are not accessible to all .
There are more than 1.5 million registered nonprofits in the United States; however, only 150,000 of those organizations are led by people of color according to the National Center for Charitable Statistics.
This needs to change. So, let’s do it together.
Introducing the Black Executive Director’s Network, a national membership-based community designed to address the systemic issues and inequities faced by executive directors in the nonprofit sector.
We’re here to empower you with the resources you need to thrive in your leadership role.
By sharing your honest thoughts and bold ideas in a culturally safe space, we can build a better community together. One where everyone has a seat at the table, minority leaders are affirmed in their identity, and we all can keep changing the world as planned.
A "Hot Seat" is a form of group laser coaching of 5-10 people. Facilitators and consultants help participants examine a problem or concern within their organization and help determine the best solution. BLK ED was in the hot seat at the 2021 Maryland Nonprofit Annual Conference.
"This was absolutely a great session. So much talent, passion, and knowledge."
"Hearing others share that they have been experiencing our same exact feelings..."
