Overture

Today we could oversee a great example of "how to lose face". "Bittrex is a US based crypto-currency exchange designed with security and scalability in mind" – written in description of Twitter account. According to Bittrex`s rules user cannot withdraw money from account without verification, basic or enhanced. It sounds logic at first sight. But let`s see the issue from customers` side. I am just a regular person, who decided to explore crypto. For this, I registered on Bittrex.com – some mates of mine advised me to use this exchange. Ok with this and do not forget that I am exactly beginner in a huge and so strange Crypto World.

Next generation? Really?

Then I received on my Bittrex`s wallet address a little coins. That time I was inspired and felt welcomed to the fantastic Crypto World. Afterwards I realized that so "lovely" Bittrex stock doesn`t permit me to withdraw my coins. I cannot manage my money! It is required to fulfill all my ID information - name and address. Of course, it seems quite strange to share such information even you are going to work with child amounts - something about 5-10 ETC. However I input all need info and after received an error called "Name mismatch". Bittrex asked me to upload scan of my passport. Really it seems so strange for opened Crypto World where everybody could relax and feel anonymous! Of course, I obeyed and uploaded photo. But that moment I got a feeling that a typical bank was providing me service.

Set-up

I had uploaded scan of my ID (passport) and the user story began... Unfortunately, automatic verification was failed and everything on my account`s page had been disabled. For the moment I cannot refill information about myself, I cannot upload another scan, I cannot withdraw money, I cannot do nothing - there is no way. Feeling like a hostage. Only few words about my current status from Bittrex:

Trying to find a solution

I understood that I did something wrong and so that I`ve escalated a ticket. For me it is a standard action for such situations. No problem... After a little I received a feedback letter from Bittrex. It was a boilerplate answer. 

Increasing, growth and no resources to process all tickets...

Here I would like to ask a reasonable question: if you are a Big crypto exchange company (more than 1 billion USD of Turnover) and you are completely aware of a current situation on the market you are operating so why don`t you do anything with it? Where are you recruiters? Where is resource planning and where are managers, who can be that responsible guy and could find a solution for thousands angry users, to be more usually, angry customers?

Trying to keep it together I`ll stay waiting for response next 7 days as it was recommended by Bittrex. Then I gave another go and write Bittrex asking to update status of my ticket. But Bittrex was so sorry and that`s it. Dear Bittrex, I can buy bread using your "pardon coins"

Sorry, sorry, sorry, but we had been freezing your money and nothing could do we that. Sorry.

Then I started writing letters every day. Every time I kindly asked support just to give me actual information according to the status. Just give info, provide transparency! Since that Bittrex began keeping silence. 7 letters without no answer - really customer-friendly system! Aren`t it?

When company who provide you a service mount a Chinese Wall you have just only one way - co-operation with others. God bless Internet! I`ve found a number of publics in Facebook, Telegram, Twitter, Bitcointalk and others. I was quite surprised that there are thousands of people who faced with the same problem. All these guys are angry and disappointed - a great result of indifference from Bittrex side! And we all tried a lot of channels to contact Bittrex support:

  • Firstly, using the official slack channel. For the moment, you cannot join a channel because it is redirecting on their site, and there is no possibility to ask or to get new information. Weeks ago enthusiasts was trying to help and send ticket numbers directly to slack. Nowadays Bittrex banned them and now we deprived one communication channel.
Really strange logic: Bittrex does not give me an access to slack channel but asks to write about tickets directly tied to my account. But how?

And till now nobody understands how to get invitation to the slack group! Since 15 Oct it is impossible to come in slack room. Great!

If you want to help other users you can be banned easily
  • We sent thousands of mails to support and there were no results at all. Mail communication channel also is blocked by "opened" Bittrex`s support team.
  • Trying to communicate in Twitter, but here we also face with a Chinese Wall designed by Bittrex
In Twitter you also cannot ask a question or contact with support

Facts

Using simple arithmetic, we can calculate how many tickets had been initialized just for one last month. At the beginning of November, we had numbers in tickets like 285000 and now users are getting something about 484000. It is about 200 000 tickets just for one month - incredible!

What do we have today?

  • Thousands of people are dissapointed in Bittrex exchange
  • Thousands of people are dissapointed in Crypto World
  • Now it is clear that exchange companies are similar to typical banks
  • There is no decentralisation in Crypro World which was promised. A number of companies are controlling coins
  • There is no quality service provided on crypto currencies market at all

If we want to develop Crypto World and inviting fiat people into we need to build a enviroment with a high quality service with:

1) Fast and cheap exchanges

2) Low fees for buying crypto currencies

3) Flexible and responsive support

4) Transparent account managing

5) Easily and flexible rules for verification
