I really wanted to love this device and had high aspirations for it, but I feel it falls short of its intended goal. After a few weeks there is a persistent rattle with the fan and the box that was sent had the seals broken prior to arrival. In its current form, it is little more than an overpriced toy at a pretty steep price. After playing with this a while, I setup a Raspberry Pi with a nice case and a fan that does not rattle at a fraction of the cost using Minera and an AntMiner U3. The development environment can easily be setup at little to no cost using VMware and Ubuntu and there is no shortage of information regarding Bitcoin on the Internet. This product lets you play with the blockchain and micro payments in a way you just cannot do with a regular full node. Although 21 did a great job making the device look pretty the actual functionality of the device is absolutely horrendous. I have never been able to get it to connect to my wifi connection nor to any of my computers MacBooks. The device will only work on an Ethernet connection with a stand alone hdmi display. I even tried it on an older MacBook Pro which has an Ethernet connection and that was also unsuccesful. I am very disappointed in the amount of time wasted spent trying to configure the device and money. At this point which is 2 months later, I still have not been able to get it up and running. I have purchased several bitmain miners and they connect to the network instantly without and troubleshooting at all. If anyone has anymore questions feel free to email me smallsihsv gmail. The idea behind this is a good one, build miners into devices that people already use. You could have devices that sell or are rented for a discount because it has a mining chip in it that sends money to the company while the device is in use, in this case 21inc has decided to basically sell a development kit that pays them by mining while users learn to develop bitcoin applications on it. Its an interesting idea in theory, but a pointless waste of money. The API itself is fairly bare bones at the moment lots of commands just tell you 'coming soon' , you can buy and sell only on a very basic level, there are much better developed bitcoin APIs available that offer more than just a basic command line. The gb sdcard is already nearly half full out of the box due to storing the bitcoin blockchain in a year or 2 gb wont be big enough to store it all. Honestly anyone who is interested in this device would do better to purchase a standard Raspberry Pi2 and manually installing the 21 software packages. The miner included does not justify the extra costs, and the 21 software can be set up for buying and selling without the miner attached.
