The Little Sister is hard to really describe as an enemy because it cannont attack or be attacked in any way. Little Sisters were originally human girls but were changed in order to produce Adam. The problem is they did not produce enough so they were asked to harvest them from dead splicers. When they refused they were genetically altered to find the dead Splicers as angels making it more desirable for the Little Sisters to harvest them. They are weak so they are always protected by a Big Daddy and when attacked the Big Daddy rushes in to fight.

When the Big Daddy is defeated the Little Sister is left crying over it and there are two choices. Harvest or Rescue. Harvest gets the most amount of Adam but it kills the Little Sister. Rescue saves her life but less Adam, however with every three rescues, you get a gift with Adam, money and unique gene tonics and plasmids.

Pinup artist Martin Abel has transformed Rapture's creepy little girl clone into something rather er…grown up. Between this and the Deus Ex: Human Revolution sexy sex sexxxxy photoshoot that popped up on the internet last week I am beginning to think someone is trolling me. Seriously, guys? Someone (s) felt the need to sexualize a little girl AND take pictures of a topless lady cyborg? For gaming culture? Why? For fuck's sake, why?

I can't even with this. I want to present a well thought out argument for both sides but I've got nothing here. I have a pretty subversive sense of humor. I almost always follow the rule that if something is funny then it trumps offensive. But this kind of willful misogyny (in a culture already known for its apathy/hostility towards women) for no apparent purpose other than to titillate 13 year old fan boys just makes me sad. And mad. And then mad sad. And then I throw something at the wall. It's pointless. I mean, if someone really felt like they just had to send up a video game old time-y fashion then how about making Big Daddy into a pin up, huh? Like when Bugs Bunny would comb the hair of that beast thing and make it look pretty? Why not? Because bottom line is it wouldn't make as much money. Because this is how our society is wired. Because by accepting these things as just "fun" we're all complicit in this farce – a sexist culture making money off of women's bodies. Grump grump grump.

A final moment between one of BioShock's iconic Little Sisters and her Big Daddy is captured in an illustration from a creative fan artist.
The image of a hulking Big Daddy standing menacingly in the cover art of BioShock is a memorable motif that has made its mark on many fans of the series. These monstrous behemoths are an intimidating sight for players, but a piece of fan art shows that there is more to Big Daddies than just ion lasers and heavy drills.
Artist Huusenuri posted a creative piece on DeviantArt of a Little Sister in her characteristic dress, watching over the decimated remains of a Big Daddy . Huusenuri wrote "a favorite game" to accompany the piece. The artwork is gathering both attention and praise from BioShock 's still thriving community of followers. Many commenters expressed their amazement at the piece's attention to detail, while others reminisced about the character dynamics of the Big Daddies and Little Sisters.
Entitled "Goodbye", the drawing was originally posted in November 2012. The lore behind the Big Daddies and Little Sisters only serves to accentuate the illustration's meaning. A Big Daddy is a juggernaut tasked with protecting their bonded Little Sisters, who they are mentally conditioned to see as a daughter. Big Daddies are genetically-modified humans that are completely grafted to their gear, from their skin deep into their organs. Rather than a suit worn over the body, the two are combined in an amalgam of flesh and machine.
For gamers looking for more fan works, Twitter user @GameonFocus is has created artwork of another parent-child duo--Kratos and Atreus--with an animation of God of War: Ragnarok's key art . Comic book artist Mark Brooks can also be seen showcasing his own skills with a sketch of the Dimitrescu family from Resident Evil Village .
As for fans of the original BioShock who want to take control of a Big Daddy for themselves, BioShock 2 is a direct sequel that lets players take on the role of a Big Daddy, Alpha Series Subject Delta. Separated from his Little Sister Eleanor, Subject Delta must fight his way through the underwater metropolis of Rapture in order to rescue her from a group known as "the Rapture Family."
BioShock 2 is available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. BioShock: The Collection , which is a remastered compilation of all three games in the franchise, is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
Lance is a passionate gamer who's been behind a controller ever since he could walk. From the original PS1 to the modern PC, he's been with the scene through its ups and downs. His current favorite game is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. He also has a penchant for anime and manga.

GDC08: Early, pre-Little Sisters BioShock footage

Yesterday morning we had the chance to listen to Ken Levine speak on the storytelling process behind his hit title, BioShock . The quick Zero Punctuation video got big laughs , but there was another video during the presentation that more accurately represented what Ken was talking about. Above is a picture of a stage in the development of the Little Sisters , a hint at other (stranger?) versions of Rapture and its denizens. You can catch other stages in the Sisters development in our gallery of photos from the talk . Like the Little Sisters concept, the video itself shows an early version of Rapture. The beautiful art-deco world we know and love is an ugly, boxy, warehouse of a place. Check it out below the cut for raging Big Daddies, worm-like Little sSsters, and one of the quickest "time to crate" experiences in gaming. %Gallery-16573%
