When I worked on this film in 2004, I had no idea how big of an impact it would have on my life. The same applies to Wayne Bergeron, who played 1st trumpet on that score. It was composer Michael Giacchino’s first film and I was fortunate to hop onboard with Michael at that time. So, when the sequel was released in 2018, we were all excited to get another go-around. This new arrangement of Michael’s themes takes a few liberties but essentially creates the same “secret agent” vibe as in the films. And, as in the films, Wayne Bergeron shows why he is a simply one of a kind musician. As is Andrew Synowiec with his 60’s influenced guitar solo. This chart also contains what it probably the most challenging lick I’ve ever written for this band. It’s near the end, did you hear it? Of course, they nail it, as usual. - Gordon Goodwin
