A young British mom with “unbelievably saggy” boobs says they threaten her life.
Holly Shortland stands just 4-feet-9 with size-H boobs that are so heavy her partner has to pick them up and physically move them to keep them from strangling her while she sleeps.
The 18-year-old, who lives in Taunton, Somerset, says her breasts have been causing her back, rib and hip pain and have been giving her rashes since she was 14 — when she was already a G cup.
“It’s awful on my back and shoulders because they’re so heavy and droopy. I get hip pain and pains on my ribs really bad,” she said.
Shortland has even gone on a health and fitness mission and lost 84 pounds, hoping that her boobs would shrink down with her other weight loss.
It didn’t work, and her breasts still rest in her lap when she sits.
“They put weight on my chest, and if I lay down, they go all the way up into my throat and push on my throat and face,” she said.
“They’re unbelievably heavy and unbelievably saggy. Because of my height, when I sit down, they rest in my lap,” she continued.
Her boobs now weigh about 14 pounds each.
Shortland said she has been woken up in the middle of the night by her boobs “suffocating her.”
“I can’t breathe in my sleep, that’s the breaking point. I can’t do it anymore. They suffocate me. They wake me up every couple of hours,” she said.
She explained they press down on her throat and her partner, Ryan, 21, has to lift them, roll her over and place them back down next to her.
“Ryan helps me out a lot with them, but as a man, he’ll never really understand the struggle,” she said.
Shortland shared that if she does manage to get her boobs into a bra, she’s left with dents in her shoulders from the straps.
Although she’s a size medium, she has to wear size XL shirts that still end up being too tight. Shortland admitted she’s been heckled on the street by complete strangers since she was 14 — even when she was pregnant with her daughter, Luna.
“I’ll be minding my own business and people make comments.”
Strangers have joked that her baby must be “well-fed.”
“I was in Primark and someone said I didn’t look pregnant, I looked obese because of my chest. My chest was out as far as my bump.”
She said people over-sexualized her pregnancy, with one person on social media telling her she shouldn’t do a maternity shoot “because it would be trashy.”
“I felt awful because my chest is my biggest insecurity,” she said.
Others have told her to wear a bra even though she can’t find any that fit.
“I get nasty comments and rashes where my boobs are swinging against my stomach,” she shared. “I hate the way I look. My clothes don’t fit unless I wear a binder. I can’t get clothes that fit.”
“Older people tell me I should put on a bra, because they’ll get more saggy, random people I don’t know. I get nasty comments from older people,” she added.
Shortland even gets brutal comments about her appearance on social media.
“I posted a weight loss video and strangers were commenting, saying it’s not fair because most of your weight is your boobs, they’re about a stone each,” she said. “All the comments were about my chest. I was wearing an XL T-shirt so they weren’t even on show.”
“The reason they are so saggy is because of the size of them, and I can’t change that.”
Now, the young mom is fund-raising to get a breast reduction in Istanbul, Turkey, and hopes to get surgery as soon as possible.
On a GoFundMe page created for the reduction, she wrote, “I was quite hesitant to make a go fund me, as there’s a lot of negative people out there, but I genuinely believe I need help and won’t be able to save for this alone.”
Shortland is hoping she’ll be able to sleep properly and resolve some of her boob-related issues if her breasts’ size is reduced to a DD.
“I don’t like leaving the house, they cause so many issues, dents in my arms and my ribs are being pulled up,” she said.
She shared that she struggles to carry her baby daughter with her boobs in the way.
Although she’s eager to get the breast-reduction surgery, she initially worried about how her partner will react.
“Ryan likes big boobs and how I am, but I can’t do this anymore. He was so supportive of me getting rid of them. He said, ‘Good for you,’ ” said Shortland.
“I care about his opinion but also his opinion isn’t valid. If he said he didn’t want me to, I’d tell him to f – – k off and get it done anyway.”
Shortland isn’t planning on having a flat chest, though.
“I’m Holly Shortland, the girl with the big t – ts, ever since I was 14. It’s a personality trait now,” she said. “It will be hard for me to lose a part of myself, but I need to get it sorted as soon as possible.”
