Sonic Revolution: Betrayal of a Hero, also shortened to Betrayal of a Hero, is the fourth prequel story for Sonic Revolution , written by Casey McGregor of Star Technologies . This story is the first prequel story to actually take the form of a three-part novellette, and traces the early life of Terios the Hedgehog and Tangle the Lemur, characters scheduled to appear in the novel.
The incorporation of Terios the Hedgehog and Tangle the Lemur into the plot of Sonic Revolution stem from two factors.
After Tangle previously appeared briefly in Sonic Revolution: The Loved Bully 2 , Casey wanted to further advance her character in some way, deciding her being in affiliation with the Freedom Fighters of Acorn while in their first generation would not only bring her more character, but also shine extra light on the early stages of the Freedom Fighters, before their appearance in the novel. The other contributing factor to this was Casey's affiliation with YouTube user BulbaSour, to create concept art and new characters and ideas for the novel. BulbaSour submitted a piece of artwork to Casey for a potential villain, which Casey dubbed Zero, named after the concept name for Infinite in Sonic Forces. Casey then also decided to make Zero a Phantom, one of the servants of Mephiles, as well as making Zero the Phantom form of Terios the Hedgehog, who was already scheduled to appear in Sonic Revolution 2 as a villain. This influenced Casey to move the character back to appear in the first installment. As such, a prequel story had to be created to create Terios' backstory. Casey also took this as an opportunity to further incorporate Tangle into the plot, by putting both together as members of the first generation of the Freedom Fighters. While writing the story, Casey discovered that there was too much story to incorporate into a single story; with this, it was announced that Betrayal of a Hero would be split into three parts as the fourth, fifth and sixth prequel stories. Following the release of the first part, a Terios trailer was uploaded to the Star Technologies YouTube channel, announcing a brand new coverart for the Sonic Revolution: Prequel Story Collection, as well as copyright information and rating information for the novel.
Sonic Revolution: Betrayal of a Hero takes place 30 years after the events of the previous prequel stories.
Terios is awoken by Maximillian Acorn, to help fight against the latest attack from G.U.N. on the kingdom of Acorn. Terios heads out on the front lines to fight, but is shot in the shoulder, losing consciousness, before being taken to the Acorn Hospital by Tangle the Lemur. While unconscious, Terios is visited in his dreams by Mephiles the Dark, who proceeds to offer Terios the Phantom Ruby in return for his allegiance, mentioning that the ruby will allow Terios to easily defeat G.U.N. Terios agrees, before he awakens, to see Tangle next to him. After a short argument, Terios storms out with the Phantom Ruby, not showing anyone. Outside that night, Tangle finds Terios, and the two talk briefly, before Terios shows Tangle the Phantom Ruby. The two then kiss, laying down on the grass to look at the stars.
During the night, Terios meets Mephiles once again, who tells Terios he will go insane from the Phantom Ruby, and this causes him to run away, followed by Tangle. Mephiles then drives him to use the Phantom Ruby to transport to Mobotropolis.
Tangle follows Terios to Mobotropolis, but is attacked by Mephiles on the way, wounding her heavily. In the outskirts of Mobotropolis, Terios destroys the G.U.N. headquarters, and heads back. There, he finds Tangle, weak and dying, and after she dies in his arms, Mephiles lies to Terios, telling him G.U.N. harmed her. This seals the coffin and turns Terios into Zero.

You woke up in a glass cylinder, outside the glass you saw a fat man with goggles and a long beard. You felt weak; on your right was another glass cylinder with Dianna inside it still unconscious.
You saw that both glass cylinders were attached by a big pipe, you wonder why. Suddenly you saw that your hands were furry and you were small. “Aah!” you screamed. That got the fat dude’s attention.

Suddenly Dianna woke up. Violet Aura started surrounding me, it began to get chaotic in Dianna’s cylinder. Soon it burst open. Eggman rushed to his computer and pressed a big red button that said ‘Emergency’. A gate opened and robots came out.

Dianna broke the glass cylinder containing you and you all get ready in a fighting stance. “So, okay there’s a 60% chance we’re gonna get captured again since I am not a fighter” she said.
The walls suddenly burst open and a blue hedgehog and black and red hedgehog came in. “He Butnik you having a party without us?” the blue hedgehog said. “Such a shame, this part is actually to DIE for” the red and black hedgehog said and they both leaped at Eggman.
Dianna dragged you to the open wall, you guys ran until you reached the hangar. Dianna opened the door and cold wind brushed against your fur and hair, you were high up in the skies. “Okay, plan B- Aah!“ Dianna was cut off as she was thrown out the gate.
You turned around to see a robot. The robot came towards you but you took a step back, then you slip and fell.
(If you can fly, your character was too shock to fly.) Suddenly you landed in mid-air. “W-what the!” you heard, you turned your head and was now looking straight into a pair of golden eyes.
When you two landed you saw it was actually a white hedgehog. “Whoa! what happened? You just came from the sky and-and!” he said. “I’m Silver, Silver the hedgehog, I’m a time traveller”
There was a loud bang, when you look up Eggman’s base was destroyed, and the two hedgehogs came out safely, but was falling to their doom.
You and Silver ran to the hedgies and Silver created a green aura around them and slowly put them down. “SAFE!” the blue hedgehog said then he looked at you “Hey! My name’s Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog and I’m the fastest thing in the world”
The black and red one then came up and said “I am Shadow, Shadow the Hedgehog, and I am the ultimate lifeform”
You heard the bush nearby rattling, you and the guys watched as Dianna came out soaking wet with bits of twigs on her hair, “You… do not… want … to… know… what I’ve been through” Dianna huffed. You and the guys just laughed.
You, Dianna and the guys walked for awhile until you saw a big house. “Home, Sweet, Home” Sonic said
