Beta 138

Beta 138

Beta with low oxygen affinity has been associated with a mild anemia form. While the electrophoresis mobility is similar to HB A, it is difficult to separate the variant of HB A. Beta 138 study shows that the introduction of proline in position 138 does not change hydrophobic interactions between the subunits. In addition, the measurement of oxygen affinity shows that Beta138 shows the same functional properties as HB A.

Preventing diseases from developing based on genetic counseling, operator identification, and prenatal diagnosis. Genetic counseling gives individuals who are at risk and partner information about this disease and how it is inherited. Prenatal diagnosis can be done through fetal cell analysis. Amniocentesis or villi chorionic sampling can be done in about 15-18 weeks of pregnancy to identify the presence of alleles that cause disease.
