We all love a good sexy game around here — and those who have been following PC gaming for a while will recall that, outside of a few peculiar situations, Valve mostly seems to be open to sexy games on its Steam platform these days. So here’s ten of the best for you to enjoy!
With the sequel’s release imminent at the time of writing, there’s no better time to enter the delightfully saucy world of Huniepop if you’ve never had the pleasure, so to speak. First released in 2015 after a successful Kickstarter campaign — and deliberately developed in protest at the apparent increasing intolerance of sexualised content in video games from popular media at the time — HuniePop is a genuinely excellent game that has remained popular for good reason.
In HuniePop, you’re challenged by the fairy Kyu to get together with a range of eligible bachelorettes in your local town. In order to win them over, you’ll have to chat with them, give them gifts and, most importantly, engage in fierce puzzle game battles.
The puzzle gameplay, while initially resembling the Bejeweled-style match-3 gameplay we’ve seen a thousand times before, has considerable depth and plenty of distinctive features that keep it feeling fresh and interesting — plus the lewd, frantic twist on it when you finally get a lady back to your room is both exciting and oddly invigorating. If you’re yet to experience HuniePop, then stop what you’re doing and go have some fun right now!
Dismissed by many as a cynical cash-in on HuniePop’s popularity at its time of original release in 2016, Frontwing’s Purino Party is actually a very distinct experience. It blends genuinely hilarious visual novel sequences — loosely based on Frontwing’s unlocalised titles Pure Girl and Innocent Girl, hence the name — with exciting and distinctive match-3 gameplay.
Like HuniePop, the latter doesn’t just follow the boring old Bejeweled mould; there’s some deep strategy required to clear the levels in this one, though after a bunch of whingeing from Steam reviewers who aren’t good at puzzle games but still wanted to see boob, Frontwing did also add an “Easy” mode.
Purino Party’s cast members are rather refreshing in how blunt and up-front most of them are about their sexuality and particular tastes. You’ll find yourself enjoying the honesty of these girls as much as the enjoyable, challenging puzzle action.
Continuing with the puzzle action, Zoo Corporation’s Delicious! Pretty Girls Mahjong Solitaire presents you with a series of increasingly challenging mahjong solitaire puzzles. Each set of puzzles is accompanied by a girl drawn by prolific artist Ayase Hazuki, each of whom is originally from a title published by Zoo Corporation’s eroge labels Norn, Cybele, Miel and Yumesta.
As you progress through the stages, the girl will change costumes — and they get increasingly lewd as you progress, though note there is no completely explicit content in this game. There is, however, an absolutely banging soundtrack that late ‘90s Namco would be proud of, and honestly this is reason enough to play this game if the prospect of saucy ladies and addictive puzzle action wasn’t already enough.
Developed by the legendary AliceSoft, of Rance fame, Evenicle was a genuine surprise to see on Steam — particularly in its uncut form. It was most certainly a welcome surprise, however, as Evenicle is an excellent RPG that features fantastic artwork by Nan Yaegashi — best known as the Senran Kagura artist — as well as an extremely well-crafted story filled with both humour and drama, some of the finest waifus in all of creation and really solid combat and progression mechanics.
Note that being an AliceSoft game, Evenicle doesn’t hold back on the sexual violence angle, and there are a number of fairly unpleasant scenes as part of the game’s story that some may find uncomfortable or distasteful. They are much less frequent than those in the Rance games, however — and also unlike Rance, the protagonist of Evenicle is not the perpetrator of any sexual assault scenes over the course of the game, since the emphasis is very much on the developing relationship between him and his wives.
Yes, wives plural; Evenicle is noteworthy for many reasons, but one of the most interesting is its surprisingly sensitive exploration of the concept of polyamory. Why have one waifu when you can have, well, all of them?
And talking of polyamory, this excellent title from Nekopara creator Sayori and renowned lewd artist Ishikei is not only a heartwarming story about finding (or, in some cases, rediscovering) connections with one another, but also one of the most beautifully presented, expressive visual novels you’ll ever see.
Like Sayori’s best-known work Nekopara, Love³ -Love Cube- makes extensive use of the “E-Mote” animated 2D technology by M2 — yes, the same people who do the really good shoot ‘em up ports. Love³ -Love Cube-’s characters are some of the most believable characters you’ll ever see in a visual novel, making use of body language and gradual changes of facial expressions as they speak. And they can even move their arms! This might not sound like a big deal, but when you compare the animation in Love³ -Love Cube- to titles that use rather more “stiff” takes on Live2D, it’s hard to go back!
The version of Love³ -Love Cube- on Steam is the all-ages version, but in this instance it’s strongly recommended you also get the 18+ patch, since the sexual intimacy between the core cast is of critical importance to the overall narrative… as well as being super-hot. It doubles the price of the game… but believe me, it’s worth it.
Continuing with the visual novels, Lucy Got Problems is an adorable, genuinely amusing and highly entertaining story about a succubus who isn’t very good at being a succubus. She’s clumsy, she’s not too bright and she has an awkward habit of inadvertently and unintentionally getting herself into lewd situations, and you can’t help but love her.
Besides the story, Lucy Got Problems is noteworthy for incorporating a range of options that should appease even the pickiest visual novel enthusiast. Multiple difficulty levels allow you to completely disable “bad” endings and timed decision points if you so desire, and you can also turn on or off the ability to “rewind” the text and change your answers to choices. If you do happen to reach a bad ending, a convenient “back to last choice” button allows you to try an alternative approach; this should be a standard inclusion in all visual novels from hereon!
Lucy Got Problems is a fun game with lovely art, nice music and an interesting structure where you can meander back and forth across a number of narrative routes over the game’s duration, rather than locking yourself into a single one. There’s lots to discover and the game has clearly been put together with genuine love, so while this one might not be as well-known as some of the other titles on this list, it’s definitely worthy of your time.
Bullet Girls Phantasia can also be acquired on PlayStation 4 in both physical and digital editions from Asian regions, but as for in the West… well, Sony. As such, if you don’t want to go through the hassle and potential expense of securing an Asia English console version, Steam is your best bet.
Bullet Girls Phantasia is a game that combines isekai fantasy with cute girls doing cute things and a variety of heavy military hardware… plus some of the most erotic scenes you’ll see in a game without said game actually crossing the line into becoming completely explicit. By day, you’ll blast away at hordes of fantasy monsters, level up your girls and develop them with a comprehensive skill tree; by night, you’ll “drill” them to resist torture in a variety of interesting and lewd ways. And, as you progress, you’ll get the opportunity to be “drilled” in return, in some of the sauciest first-person scenes in all of gaming.
Bullet Girls Phantasia isn’t ashamed of what it is, and it provides a solid blend of action RPG-style progression with satisfying third-person shooting alongside all its filth. It’s also noteworthy for being the work of Shade, a company formed from the ashes of legendary Super NES developer Quintet, who longstanding gamers will remember as the people who gave us Actraiser, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma, among other things. So there’s a strong developer pedigree here too!
Staying with the third-person shooter theme, Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash might initially seem like a silly spin-off game to Kenichiro Takaki’s legendary busty ninja series. Narratively it’s actually a direct follow-up to Senran Kagura Estival Versus — and in its finale even teases Senran Kagura 7even, whose existence sadly remains a complete mystery at the time of writing.
Peach Beach Splash is a joyfully arcade-style third person shooter in which you blast one another with water guns of various descriptions, ranging from simple pistols to ridiculous “rocket” launchers. In terms of its speed and slickness, it feels like a lost Sega game — those old enough to remember titles like Outtrigger on Dreamcast will be in heaven here — but there’s a ton of depth, too, thanks to a collectible card system for power-ups, as well as levelling the enormous cast of playable characters.
While it may eschew the usual ninja fighting action the series is best known for, don’t sleep on Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash. It’s genuinely one of the most enjoyable Senran Kagura games out there, with a great soundtrack, an entertaining story that combines comedy, drama and pathos in the way the series always has, and some really solid mechanics.
One of two well-regarded games by legendary adult game developer Illusion — the other being Honey Select Unlimited, which sadly isn’t available on Steam — Koikatsu Party is best known for its spectacularly comprehensive character creator. You can let your imagination run wild and create a wide variety of anime-style characters, then either have some, uh, intimate encounters with them, or load them into the separate “Character Studio” application to set up your own custom scenes.
This Steam release of Koikatsu Party cuts out the main game mode of the original Koikatsu, where you could walk around a school setting and interact with the characters you’d created, but there are… ways to restore that. You’re on your own to discover those, though!
Even without the “game” side of things, though, Koikatsu Party is well worth investing in as a creative tool, because between the character creator and the Studio application, it provides a wonderful means of playing virtual “doll house” with characters of your own design — lewd or otherwise!
In the same mould as Koikatsu Party, Custom Order Maid 3D 2 is another title best known for its comprehensive character creator. This time around, there is an actual “game” to go with it that requires you to create a selection of maids, train them in various areas and make your club a big success, but as with Koikatsu Party the real appeal here is in using the game as a creative tool, particularly as the localisation of the dialogue for the main game mode is extremely weak.
The character creator is very comprehensive and flexible — though Koikatsu Party arguably has it beaten in a few areas — and the photo mode allows you to position and pose your virtual models however you see fit as well as applying effects and backdrops.
This is a very popular game for modding, too; if the default game doesn’t provide a costume you want, chances are some enterprising young modder out there has done it for you, so you really can let your imagination run wild. Do note, however, that the Steam release of this game lacks all 18+ content by default; the adult patch must be purchased separately outside of Steam.
