Wherever you fall on the debate around Page 3, the legacy speaks for itself – with the controversial segment ending in 2015 after 44 years.
Page 3 has launched the careers of many celebrities and many appeared in the documentary Page 3: The Naked Truth which aired Thursday 18 June.
Who are some of the stars who got their break on Page 3?
Possibly the ultimate success story of the Page 3 heyday, Katie Price , 42, launched her decades-long career appearing as her glamour-girl alias Jordan.
Jordan was a regular on Page 3 from her early days glamour modelling in 1996 onwards.
It was from her turn on Page 3 and party-girl antics that she was chosen to appear in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! In 2004.
It was here that she met future-husband Peter Andre and her appearance on the reality show propelled her reality TV career, helping build her empire.
The actress and former glamour model, 61, was a favourite fixture on Page 3 in the 70s and 80s.
Lusardi – who has most recently made headlines detailing her battle with coronavirus – went on to star in Emmerdale in 2007 and has appeared on shows including Dancing on Ice and BBC’s Hole in the Wall.
Jodie Marsh, now 41, was a regular on Page 3 and appeared in an assortment of lads mags in the early 2000s.
Marsh, who went on to write a best-selling autobiography and star in a string of reality shows centred around her life, defended Page 3 back in 2015 when the backlash against the tradition led to it coming to an end.
Taking to her Twitter, she wrote: ‘I loved doing Page 3, it was good money, I felt powerful, I was definitely in control & all the people (mostly women) I worked with were FAB’.
She posted in a follow-up tweet: ‘I never felt exploited – in fact the opposite. I thought “blimey, people are willing to pay to see my boobs”!!’
Singer, songwriter and actress Sam Fox started glamour modelling in 1983 for The Sun. She was 16 at the time and continued modelling as a Page 3 girl until 1986.
She used her platform as one of the most prominent Page 3 girls to launch a successful career in music.
Her debut single Touch Me (I Want Your Body) reached number one in 17 countries, and she received a Brit Award nomination in 1988.
She has gone on to release six studio albums, as well as starring in shows including I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity Big Brother.
There were the regular Page 3 girls who made a name for themselves on the pages, but there are other stars who have appeared on the page as a special appearance or appearances.
The Spice Girl herself was super spicy in 1990, when she made an appearance as a Page 3 girl for The Sun.
Geri hasn’t mentioned much of her glamour modelling days since she became part of the biggest girl band the world has ever seen.
Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan made her first appearance on Page 3 of The Sun in 2013, in between stints playing Rosie Webster on the soap and after appearing in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

THEN: Spotted by Star photographer Jeany Savage, she began appearing on Page 3 in the mid 90s.
NOW: Worth an estimated £7million, the 35-year-old has a new TV show starting in America, has appeared in films, and has her own swimwear and lingerie range with New Look.
THEN: Lucy first appeared in the Daily Star in 2003 after we spotted her on Bournemouth beach.
NOW: She is still a model aged 31, starred in flick Strippers v Werewolves and also appeared in Celebrity Big Brother in 2009 – but was the first to be voted off.

NOW: The 32-year-old has appeared in several reality TV shows and is happily married with two kids.
THEN: The Brighton belle launched her Page 3 career in 1996 under the name Jordan with a 32B chest. She later became known for a string of boob jobs to boost and lately reduce her assets.
NOW: The current CBB star is estimated to be worth £45million. As well as reality TV shows, the mum-of-five has launched clothing, haircare and perfume products and penned best-selling books.
THEN: The former bank clerk from Leeds became a glamour model after a suggestion by her hairdresser.
NOW: She was the Lara Croft model for the Tomb Raider game and starred on I’m A Celebrity.
THEN: The brunette appeared on the Daily Star’s Page 3 from 2011 to 2013.
NOW: After starring on MTV’s Ex On The Beach last year, Chloe, 21, won herself a place in this month’s Celebrity Big Brother, but was evicted last week.
THEN: Became a much loved pin up at 18 in 1976 and was voted the best Page 3 girl of all time, continuing to wow fans with her 36-24-36 body and amazing cheekbones through the 1980s.
NOW: The mum-of-two, now 56, has starred in Emmerdale, The Bill and Dancing On Ice.
THEN: The blonde lovely made her Page 3 debut in 1997 after being spotted in an advert for double glazing.
NOW: Melinda, 42, has presented and appeared on a string of TV shows including Cowboy Builders and Dancing On Ice.
THEN: The Ginger one was a P3 girl before she was a mega pop star.
NOW: Geri, 42, became part of the most famous girl group in history as one fifth of the Spice Girls, had a string of solo hits and is currently working on new music.
THEN: The daughter of London market traders found fame aged 16 in 1983 when her mum sent photos of her into a newspaper competition. With her 36D-23-31 figure and girl next door looks she became one of the most snapped women in the world.
NOW: At 20 she became a pop star. Her 1986 hit Touch Me (I Want Your Body) went to No 1 in 17 countries. She’s starred in TV shows including I’m A Celebrity and Celebrity Wife Swap. The 48-year-old came out as a lesbian and now lives with partner Myra Stratton.
THEN: A fresh-faced Nicola first hit Page 3 in 2001.
NOW: Now 33, Nicola appeared in Celebrity Big Brother and I’m A Celebrity and has produced a range of onesies. She’s become well-known for Twitter spats with some other celebs in recent times.
