A new app has been developed which connects sex workers, male and female, to users.
Rendevu was founded by Reuben Coppa, from Sydney, in a bid to create a safe space for sex workers in NSW, and an Uber-style umbrella organisation under which to operate.
FEMAIL spoke to Mr Coppa about Rendevu, and Mila Jovi, who runs a Sydney-based escort agency that uses the app.
According to Ms Jovi, who has worked in the industry for 30 years, the app is a 'game changer' for safety within the sex industry.

Rendevu was founded by Reuben Coppa (pictured) from Sydney; he speaks to FEMAIL about his idea to create an Uber-like umbrella organisation for sex workers
For Mr Coppa, inspiration for the app came about late one night when he realised the difficulties within the sex industry:
'Clients and service providers can't connect at any time, and this doesn't happen in any other industry,' he told Daily Mail Australia.
'Moving into the sex industry was a completely new move for me, but it's been eye-opening insofar as what we've noticed.'
According to Mr Coppa, while there are plenty of clients who are looking for sex through Rendevu, there are also plenty of people who are increasingly focusing on a more emotional connection:
'Lots of people aren't after the more involved stuff - they want breakfast dates, a cuddle or a companionship appointment,' he said.

Sydney-based escort agency manager, Mila Jovi (pictured), who uses the app, said that people are looking for sex less and more emotional connections
According to Ms Jovi, the 'stigma' that comes with working in the sex industry is getting less and less taboo (stock image)
Sydney-based escort agency manager, Mila Jovi, agrees with this point.
'Lots of the men and women on the app are looking for a connection they don't get at home,' she told FEMAIL.
'For some clients, even a brush on the cheek or a touch on the hand feels important. Sex is a very, very small part of the actual booking.'

Ms Jovi said that she finds Rendevu a huge help because 'it takes the nasty surprise out of who is coming to visit you (stock image)
Ms Jovi said that she finds Rendevu a help because 'it takes the nasty surprise out of who is coming to visit you.
'It's super safe, because everyone is vetted and customers have to put their credit card details into the app before they receive their booking.
'I had one case before Rendevu where one of my girls turned up and the client didn't have enough cash to pay. This eliminates all of that and makes safety not as big of a concern as it has been.'
The Sydney-based founder added the app is also beneficial, insofar as it helps to promote a message:
'The stigma of being an escort is diminishing, it used to be so taboo to talk about it,' she said.
Mr Coppa concluded: 'People never think about online security from the point of view of a sex industry worker.
'But they arguably need it more than any other professional.

More than 2,000 people downloaded Rendevu since it launched in Scotland just ONE month ago
A SEEDY new sex delivery app that has already become a hit with randy Brits is already ruffling feathers in Scotland.
More than 2,000 people have downloaded “Uber for escorts” platform Rendevu after it launched north of the border just one month ago.
The app, which became available in England earlier this year, allows clients to order hook-ups at the click of a button on their mobile phone.
But concerned Scottish National Party MSP Sandra White has blasted the app’s creators amid fears women will be exploited.
She said: “It’s quite worrying; it’s like a takeaway menu.
“You just get the app, then phone it up and get to take away an escort.
“Depending on what the escort is asked to do, it’s really quite disturbing that anyone can access it.
“It makes this ‘undesirable’ type of work so available to anyone and I’d be really concerned about that.”
Founded by Aussie entrepreneur Reuben Coppa in 2015, Rendevu’s online platform claims to be changing the industry by creating a safe space for sex workers.
The on-demand site allows escorts and erotic masseurs to organise their availability, pricing and location while clients can request a service.
Once logged on, punters can view the name and profile picture of all available service providers, plus costs and estimated arrival times.
Reuben said: “We’re now rolling the app out region by region. Escorts can sign up in the area and clients can then load the application and see escorts around them.
“In the last week we’ve had a couple of new profiles that are available in Scotland.
“Now we’re getting a lot of requests from other escorts in tight-knit communities.
“We’ve tried to make it as simple as possible.
“People just have to load the app in their browser. It looks and behaves as an app.
“They can also view it in private browsing or incognito mode.
“It will show them a list of all the escorts available and in reach of where they are.
“On arrival the clients must show the escorts a piece of ID that matches the credit card they use.”
Customers can book either in-calls — which involves travelling to the service provider — or outcalls, where the client provides the location.
At the end of an appointment, reviews can be posted online for overall appointment quality and the accuracy of the escort profile.
But Ms White, a long-time campaigner on women’s issues, thinks the safety of the escorts involved may be an issue.
She said: “It needs to be looked at and legislated for.
“I have real doubts over safety — this is another arm of exploitation on a greater scale.
“And it would be open to anyone who could access a mobile phone.
“Anyone could be homeless and see the app, then put their name on it in desperate situations and someone could exploit them.
“I will certainly be raising it to Parliament considering that we are looking at all the aspects of internet grooming.”
Despite the controversy, the platform is already receiving rave reviews from escorts and agencies, with one saying Rendevu is a “game changer” for the safety of escorts.
Reuben, above, continued: “We have been pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback. It’s obviously an industry where there has been stigma attached to it historically but I think that attitudes towards sex are changing in general.
Sex work in England, Scotland and Wales is completely legal — so long as it’s kept off the streets and is kept indoors.
While soliciting, kerb-crawling and brothel keeping are considered crimes, prostitution is not illegal in a private setting.
That’s why using apps such as Rendevu avoid breaking the law. Founder Reuben Coppa said: “Rendevu provides a platform for sex workers to define their services, prices and availability.
This means sex workers can work in a safe environment and in accordance with the local laws.”

“Now there are the likes of Grindr and Happn and people accept it.
“Everyone should be able to do whatever they want as long as they’re not harming anyone else.
“There has been no real hostility to the app. There is a pretty big divide around sex work but feedback has been very positive and we’ve had no major controversies yet.
“The on-demand aspect is a large part of the appeal.”
