The fighting abilities of lone swordsman Guts pique the interest of mercenary leader Griffith , following the former's defeat of Bazuso during the siege of a Falcon-held fortress. The two later engage in a decisive duel, in which Griffith successfully recruits Guts into his Band of the Falcon by defeating the swordsman. [1]
For three years, Guts aids greatly in the Band of the Falcon's military efforts, gaining rank as the Falcon's Raiders Captain. With their consecutive military victories and ever-increasing fame, the band eventually wins over the confidence of the King of Midland , who enlists their aid in Midland's Hundred-Year War with Tudor. In a siege on a Tudor-held fortress, the Band of the Falcon encounter the legendary swordsman Zodd , believed to be immortal. Despite being overwhelmed by Zodd's inhuman strength and ferociousness, Guts and Griffith leave with their lives after Zodd notices Griffith's mysterious Crimson Beherit and ominously withdraws thereafter. [7]
Midland's generals eventually set their sights on recapturing the border fortress of Doldrey – Tudor's seizing of which ignited the Hundred-Year War. Griffith assures the King of Midland that he and his mercenaries are all that is necessary to recapture the fortress. True to his word, Griffith successfully leads his mere 5,000 cavalry against the 30,000-strong legions of Tudor forces and recaptures Doldrey, thus concluding the Hundred-Year War. [3]
At the height of the Band of the Falcon's glory, Guts acts on his growing dissatisfaction with fighting for Griffith's dream and departs from the band, [4] to attain something of his own. Losing his most-treasured soldier throws Griffith's mind into turmoil, compelling him to impulsively bed Princess Charlotte on a fateful night. [5] Captured the morning after and imprisoned for treason against Midland's royal house, Griffith is sentenced to a year of prolonged torture by the incensed King of Midland and the Band of the Falcon members are consequently branded enemies of the state. [8]
A year later, having received word of his former comrades' continued activities, Guts reunites with Casca and the remnant Band of the Falcon, sharing an intimate moment with the former before aiding the latter in rescuing Griffith from beneath the Tower of Rebirth . [9] The King, incensed even further both by Griffith's escape and by the fact that Princess Charlotte has chosen to go with them, sends a group of the famed Bakiraka assassins after them with express orders to bring the Princess back alive. The mercenaries are forced to release Charlotte before making their escape through the sewers. Charlotte is brought back to the King, but the King is not satisfied with this. Despite Charlotte's pleas to spare Griffith, the King sends the Black Dog Knights , led by an apostle by the name of Wyald , after Griffith and his band, with orders to kill them all.
When Wyald and his men find the Band of the Falcon, a furious battle commences in which Guts, Casca and the others are thrown into battle with the Black Dog Knights and eventually Wyald, who is defeated by Guts at the cost of his sword. Wyald eventually meets his end when he captures Griffith to try to find his Crimson Beherit, only to find that he does not have it, and is killed by being ripped in half by Zodd as punishment for trying to kill Griffith.
Now a crippled shell of his once-glorious self, having been completely ravaged by his torturer , Griffith activates his Crimson Beherit in a moment of utmost despair. After rationalising his corpse amassing can't be stopped at that point if he still wants to attain his dream, he is granted new life by the God Hand , reborn as their final member Femto in exchange for sacrificing his Falcon comrades during the fifth Eclipse . [6] The group of sacrificed mercenaries is feasted on by ravenous monsters called " apostles "; Guts loses his left arm and right eye, and Casca 's mind collapses after being raped by Femto. The two are left the only surviving sacrifices of the hellish event only due to the Skull Knight 's intervention. [10]
Guts vows revenge on the apostles and God Hand. [11] After having a sword made for him by Godot, he breaks it on the hide of the first apostle to seek him out, before using another sword – the Dragon Slayer – to kill it. Armed with this weapon and a prosthetic cannon arm , and clad in a set of black armor and cape, Guts embarks on a personal war against his sworn enemies as the Black Swordsman. [12]
Griffith defeats Guts and enlists him in the Band of the Falcon . [1] Guts and the Band of the Falcon encounter Zodd . [2] The Band of the Falcon recaptures Doldrey , thus ending the Hundred-Year War . [3] Guts defeats Griffith and departs from the Band of the Falcon. [4] Griffith beds Princess Charlotte , [5] resulting in his imprisonment and the Falcon mercenaries being exiled. Griffith sacrifices his Falcon comrades for kinsmanship with the God Hand , [6] as their fifth member Femto.

An Excellent 3-Part Story, but this one was rushed.
This movie is Short, whereas the runtime may be about 78 minutes but with credits and an opening "anime"-style intro, it's only approximately 70 minutes long. It's short, which Can work in certain films, the Main issue is that certain scenes that were Crucial in the overall Arc were rushed, badly. Especially one scene with Zod where this took up about 15 minutes in the 1997 series, a 10/10 series by the way, but the Movie made it seem less important than it was. Also, the lines are Very straight-forward, as in telling the audience exactly what happened with no room for interpretation. The Best way I've heard this described is "leaving no room for interpretation and just telling the audience what happened means bad writing," and there is a Lot of that within this film, compared to the series which is just superb.
That being said, it is still a Great watch, especially if you like animation and anime-type cinema, and the story it goes on to tell is top notch... at least the 3 movie series and the 1997 anime which I recommend in English dub over the films; at least a first-watch. If the film was to be a 10/10, it would need to have edited the writing to make it more eloquent, extended the film to about 100 cinematic minutes Minimum, and certain Critical scenes needed to have been rewritten to be more obviously important rather than just line-dropping without time to absorb what was conveyed.
Another great thing is many of the Original English Voice Actors Returned for this film series from the 1997 series! This is just amazing, as it was 15+ years and they came back. This is just Professionalism at its' finest.

Griffith : Why do men like to shed blood, you asked. You are right in saying that it is one of the facets we, men, possess. However, it is but a tool to obtain what our heart desires and keep it from harm's way. I believe it to be a double-edged blade.
Charlotte : What your heart desires... a lover? A knight's honor?
Griffith : Both are important, aren't they? Fighting and dying for love and honor is what a knight desires above all else. But for men there exists something even more important than that. You know of it, I believe.
Griffith : It is a dream formulated and fostered for your own sake. Men are entranced by their dreams regardless of birth, rank or social standing. The dream supports them. It makes them suffer and it breathes new life into them. And it kills them. Even after they've given up on it, it continues to smolder in their hearts. All men have a dream at least once in their lives. They imagine themselves being martyrs to the God their dream has become. Others live on powerlessly, birthed into the world. I could not endure such a life.

Unleashing the dark world and its power.
The third installment of 'Berserk: The Golden Age Arc' movie series which was based on the manga series. As expected the movie didn't disappoint me but still first two are the epic compared to it. Yes first two were war genre, fully gore, awesome movies and this third one was slightly turned out fantasy-horror. After where it ended in second part I thought the revenge will commence in its follow-up story but it surprised me and took us on the different path. This story follows after a year since Guts and Griffith parted. Some of the escaped Hawk bands prepare for the rescue mission in the Casca's stand-in command to bring back their leader. Soon, Guts join them, the rescue team becomes much stronger. Not wasting much time the mission commence and what comes next is the unexpected twist and theme transformation. The dark world unleashes, without a mercy it assault the heroes and leaves the unforgettable scars. The best part of all these three movies were the way the movie ended. It leaves something broad ope
